How much would you expect to pay for this holiday?!

Sorry to post in chat but I want to get a wider range of responses than in the holiday forum. How much would you expect to pay in total for this kind of holiday? I’m having a disagreement with DH (and need to prove that I’m right haha)

  • One week all inclusive
  • Two adults, one toddler (1) one preschooler (3)
  • Somewhere in Europe. No particular location but warm and by the beach. Avoiding Bulgaria and turkey or any massive resorts eg Benidorm, would rather Portugal or Greece or italy but not tied to one specific location if that makes sense.
  • reasonable flight times that don’t involve getting up at 3am or arriving at midnight
  • quite fussy on standards. Don’t want a “pile em high sell it cheap” type place. Needs to be very clean, not at all “tacky”, basic but good quality food. Nowhere with stag dos.
  • not during school holidays, can go late June or early September
  • somewhere that offers a room big enough for us to be able to shut the kids away in the evening. So either a two bed place or at least a separate bedroom. Not just everyone together in one hotel room.

Thanks!

Sorry I’m case it’s not obvious I’m talking about a package holiday here. So booking everything together including flights, transfers, accommodation and AI board.

4000/5000?

Legodout · 12/01/2022 08:49

£1500 if not in school hols.

Workin8til6 · 12/01/2022 08:50

And sorry I mean in total for all four people. Not per person.

Depends where you go. I haven't looked recently so my figure may be out of date but if you went for Majorca, I think you could tick those boxes for under 2K.

Do a quick search on On The Beach. I warn you it will be Ryan air for that price.

Santaslittlemelter · 12/01/2022 08:50

I would say 5k

Legodout · 12/01/2022 08:51

(On the basis I've got all that for £2000 in Easter school hols)

ZaZathecat · 12/01/2022 08:51

About £2000

TheFlis12345 · 12/01/2022 08:53

£3-4K, maybe £5k for somewhere really nice.

IsThisNameTaken · 12/01/2022 08:54

Out of school hols you should be able to get that for just less than £2k

MouseyMoose · 12/01/2022 08:54

£2-2.5k

Pippinlily · 12/01/2022 08:55

£1500 would find you something nice. But if focused on Greece & Italy, more like £2000+

GuckGuckDoose · 12/01/2022 08:58

Haven’t looked for a couple of years, but for 4/5 star I would expect around the £3500/4000k mark.

imnottoofussed · 12/01/2022 08:59

£2500

HasaDigaEebowai · 12/01/2022 09:00

Your biggest factor is that you want two bedrooms. However at least your kids are little. On that basis I'd say out of school holidays for two weeks about £3.5k-£4k

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 12/01/2022 09:02

Between 2k to 6k depending on what facilities you want.

pradavilla · 12/01/2022 09:03

I'd say £2k if not in school holidays should be doable. I've been looking for similar myself. I found one that was a 4 star for under £2k. It was also an apartment and had a large terrace with a hot tub. However it was in the middle of nowhere between 2 resorts in costa del sol and the reviews on the food weren't great so that ruled it out for me.

If u want a luxury one, 5star with great reviews then ur talking £4k+.

AtillatheHun · 12/01/2022 09:05

2 beds and civilised times for flights / not school holiday - £3k

Tal45 · 12/01/2022 09:06

You could probably find somewhere for a week outside school holidays for £2000 but you could equally find somewhere for £5000. I don't think either of you are right or wrong, better just to find somewhere you'd like to go and see what the options are.

CovidForChristmas · 12/01/2022 09:06

I’d say £2000 for 4* out of school holidays.

BarbaraofSeville · 12/01/2022 09:06

I'm not sure on costs because everyone has different levels of quality expectations. What one person finds lovely, would be unbearably nasty to someone else. I don't like buffet restaurants for lunch and dinner, so would rather self cater or go B&B in an apart hotel and eat out in the daytime/evening as I don't want to pay for a la carte AI.

But I'd look for an apart hotel in somewhere like Menorca. Jet2holidays do well priced packages and good flight times, they have a 'family luxe' option which could help you zone in on the type of holiday you are looking for. Or On the Beach has a very good search function that allows you to tailor your preferred flight times to daytime only.

Madickenxx · 12/01/2022 09:07

We have just spent £4,500 on what you describe in the May half term (Canary Islands). Outside of school holidays I think you could knock off £1K or so.

girlmom21 · 12/01/2022 09:10

£3000

MintyGreenDream · 12/01/2022 09:12

Around 4 grand if 3 star 5 if AI
