What lovely holidays do you have planned over the coming year?

I am really looking forward to going home (I live abroad) for a few weeks in the summertime. We did this last year and it was brilliant. My mum has cancer, and it's really important that we get home if at all possible.

I'd like to get a beach weekend local to us here as well, if possible, to escape the baking heat but we will have to see!

Keeping fingers crossed the pandemic won't come back with another variant and gather speed over summer/ autumn this year, and that people can travel and holiday and spend time with loved ones - where are you planning to go?

Have you booked anything?

Center Parcs in March
Majorca in June
South coast in August
Center Parcs in November for our annual extended family meet up (missed 2020 but got there in 2021)
Also hope to fit in a visit to a family member who lives away at some point.

A self catering cottage with a hot tub, in Devon for the Easter bank holiday.

Toulouse for three weeks in June.

Hoping to go to Paris in September/October 🤞🏽

Skiing in February at the ClubMed hotel we loved, with all the family except DGS - exams. If France lets us in.

Cruise to the western Med in April just DH and me.

Family trip to the Caribbean in August.

4 days Barcelona end of May with 17 yr old ds.

Later in the year either a few days Florence with a friend or maybe 3 nights Northern Lights trip Iceland if not with ds if my friend and I dont go away.

We are flying to New York in august and taking a connecting flight to Florida, then spending 3 days in New York on the way back. Hoping to take a week somewhere with my mum & son, we love cruising but might have to wait a bit for that

foreverlove · 11/01/2022 17:41

Nothing yet but probably Cape Verde in April and Caribbean in October/November. Perhaps a couple of weekend breaks too.

[quote PicaK]Yes! I'm just getting used to being a single parent and I've booked us in with a firm who just run camping holidays for single parent families. With activities etc.
It feels really empowering and I'm delighted that I'll have other adults to hang out with! So lovely to have something to look forward to.

@SilverontheTree

Gran Canaria at Easter Northumberland in May Majorca in the summer Peak District long weekend August bank holiday. That’s all we’ve booked so far.
That's more than many people have.
TrexDrip · 11/01/2022 17:42

Mexico end of May for 2 weeks as the kids have 2 weeks off school
Turkey end of July for 10 nights
Might do York or Edinburgh for over Easter for a couple of nights

Echobelly · 11/01/2022 17:43

At the moment just to my parent's Eastern European place (not naming as very idenfying as no one else goes there!) in summer half term - also means we'll miss half of the Jubilee nonsense, thank God.

Might try to get away at Easter, but there's only a 4/5 day when both kids are on holiday and it's not Passover, and it may depend if oldest has a musical commitment. Am thinking maybe Amsterdam on Eurostar, but that is super expensive!

Summer is a bit up in the air - both kids are interested in residential summer camp and the one they go to annoying tends to fall precisely in the middle of holidays so if we want to get away as a family there's not quite enough time either side to do so. Also son will probably have introductory summer scheme for secondary school in first week, which will further limit options.

We’ve got two weeks in the Maldives in March and a week in Croatia in August. I’m really hoping that we can get a weekend city break in Italy in early summer as well. That will depend on how many restrictions are still in place, though- beach holidays are one thing, but if you still need face masks to walk around cities, go in museums etc, I’d rather wait.

BlowDryRat · 11/01/2022 18:00

Center Parcs for May half term.
Two weeks in Costa Rica in the summer holidays.
Probably a long weekend in the Netherlands to see family - once they let us in.
