Another Bloody Downing Street party

JustJam4Tea · 10/01/2022 21:51

So hours after telling us to only meet one other person outside from a different household 100 invited to Downing Street BYO in the garden.

It was unlawful to mix outside. If my employer had invited 100 staff to a garden party we’d have all been arrested.

The PPE scandal is bad , giving contracts to your friends is awful and the amount of money they threw around at that time is criminal.
Not to mention Dido Harding and her huge pay out too.
Just all gets worse doesn't it ?

He tweeted say he’s in ilfracombe today “investing in Bristish jobs” his next one most likely Grin stay far away from cow pat as possible

jgw1 · 12/01/2022 11:32

@DuncinToffee

It's not getting better for the government today

BREAKING: The Government's use of a so-called VIP lane to award contracts for the supply of personal protective equipment #PPE to two companies during the first wave of the #Covid19 pandemic was unlawful, the High Court has ruled.

Only two?
ancientgran · 12/01/2022 11:32

@BitcherOfBlakiven

I don’t drink either, but they’re bloody making me want to!

I had a Maccies breakfast this morning, it’s sort of hit the spot.

I made pancakes and had them covered in syrup. It did cheer me up, glad the Maccies helped.

Let the bodies pile high, other people's bodies that is Angry

Wonder when that was arranged....

This was the sort of line that rogue Robert Maxwell used to use when caught out in shady dealings - "He's in blah blah town saving jobs."

He, as you will recall, came to a sticky end.

John Major went to the dentist when Thatcher was under pressure in the Commons.

IntermittentParps · 12/01/2022 11:43

@Hearwego

The Tories have a habit of ‘getting rid ‘ of their leaders once they’ve had enough. It happened to Thatcher and Major. And May too.
Oh yes, they won't hesitate.
poorbuthappy · 12/01/2022 11:45

I do wonder what on earth it will take to get rid of him.

The lies just fall out of him (and most of them I know) but time and time again he's proven to have lied and broken the law.
I don't know what photos he has and of whom but they must be earth shattering.

jgw1 · 12/01/2022 11:56

Oh yes, they won't hesitate.

Johnson is still in office, which rather suggests they are hesitating.

User1isnotavailable · 12/01/2022 11:57

@SpindleyCrow

Fucking hell, Jim Shannon MP is in tears, he's broken down speaking about his MiL dying alone.
That was hard to watch.

Most people did the right thing and followed the rules. The PM and about 30 people attended the party. There were other parties and get togethers. They did what they wanted to do whilst telling us to stay home at that point.

Hearwego · 12/01/2022 11:57

I copied this post from another website but have to say I agree with it;

I'm not ashamed of our armed forces, I'm ashamed of our government who, instead of giving people a stiff ignoring or putting them back in their boxes, they pander to the very vocal minority and change the lives (for the worse) of the majority, just in case some nasty person on (anti)society media calls them a word ending in "ist".
I'm ashamed that they are so busy fighting each other over petty shit, and trying to get each other to resign, that they have totally forgotten that they have a country to pull out of a pandemic.

I'm ashamed that our government mainly consists of people who are in it to make themselves rich at the cost of the people.

I'm ashamed of our media for the lies and fear the spread just to sell a paper. And again of our government for not curbing the powers of the media.

I'm ashamed of our country for lying down and taking it all.

Bit of a non-sequitur there, really. For it to make sense you also need to be ashamed of our armed forces for taking orders from these scumbags. Otherwise it doesn't square with the last line. You don't have it both ways. That's part of the reason we're in this pickle.
ancientgran · 12/01/2022 12:02

He was in the garden on the 20th May. He thought it was a work event.

Keepitonthedownlow · 12/01/2022 12:03

Not a fan of Johnson, but were they not technically at work?

ancientgran · 12/01/2022 12:03

Damn, delivery at the door so I missed the end of his apology.

ancientgran · 12/01/2022 12:04

They were invited to a drinks do in the garden.
Hearwego · 12/01/2022 12:06

Why were so many in Downing Street that day in May 2020? We’re they not working from home?

Hearwego · 12/01/2022 12:07

Boris has had days to think of something. A work event held outside in the garden is the best he could come up. He’ll hope he will get away with it and hope it passes. He’ll ride this out like normal.

ancientgran · 12/01/2022 12:08

He's not quite his bumptious self today.

Ihatestripysocks · 12/01/2022 12:09

He said he was there just thank staff then back to work. The garden was used as extension of office blah blah. Sort of it looked bad it wasn’t a party it was break in work. Yea right

ancientgran · 12/01/2022 12:10

Oh well he's given Keir a good laugh anyway.

Hearwego · 12/01/2022 12:13

I think Boris knows he’s in hot water for this one

ancientgran · 12/01/2022 12:15

Oh how he wishes it had been different. And now we are onto the tests and anti virals and it's all due to him. That's OK then isn't it.

I've lost count of how many times he has apologised.
