Kids grass roots football cost

Bagamoyo1 · 09/01/2022 09:01

My kids both play football, and one of the other parents says that another local team is much cheaper, and she thinks we’re being ripped off. So I wondered if people could tell me what they pay per year in subs.
Thanks

Thanks - those who’ve said the monthly - is that every month for the year, or just the season ?

My DD pays £3.50 per session.

Workyticket · 09/01/2022 09:23

£25 a month. 1 training session and 1 game a week.

He's just had a new strip given, a training top a few months ago and they have coats on order.

I think we pay all year - happy to as they have grounds to upkeep.

HappyGreen · 09/01/2022 09:23

£35 a month and buy own training kit but match strips supplied. Well worth it.

TokyoSushi · 09/01/2022 09:24

£20 per month,1 training and 1 match per week, inc kit, own boots

HappyGreen · 09/01/2022 09:25

Oh, that's every month but we train through the summer too. And it's 2 x 2hr training nights and Sunday matches.

Angel2702 · 09/01/2022 09:25

Think ours is £300 a year kit is separate cost. Includes one team training sessions and one specialist goal keeping training session.

It all depends on the club’s facilities, which league they are in, the quality of coaching. Cheaper doesn’t mean it’s like for like.

flossie47 · 09/01/2022 09:25

Woah this is a lot! We pay £50 for the whole season!!! This includes kit, referees and any pitch charges.

JacquelineCarlyle · 09/01/2022 09:29

£25 per month including match kit (need to supply own boots, water bottle & whatever you wear for training kit). Includes 1 training session per week - sometimes with a professional coach but often with their own coaches (dads of kids on the team who aren't qualified coaches).

I think we pay all year - but it was stopped during Covid full lockdown. It also includes an end of season party (local hall & supplying party food) & trophies.

Riverlee · 09/01/2022 09:29

Costs can depend on the amount of training the team offers etc.

AliMonkey · 09/01/2022 09:30

£120 pa. Costs to club and therefore your fees will depend on things like whether they own and have to maintain a pitch or rent, whether it’s volunteer run or paid staff, whether that includes a kit, and whether they run lots of teams and/or are subsidised by adult teams. Ours was largely volunteer run with one part-time staff member shared across about 10 teams plus our team had a paid coach for one hour a fortnight. The pitch was hired from the council for Saturday mornings plus hired Astro pitch at local school for an hour a week. So the costs seemed very reasonable but it wasn’t accessible to all families.

For DS we pay £35 per month through the whole year. DD plays for a different club and we pay £110 for the year. Both get kit, tracksuits, training and matches included.

CloseYourEyesAndSee · 09/01/2022 10:00

£130 per year including new strips every 2 years

confusedofengland · 09/01/2022 10:20

I think ours is £150ish for the year. That includes kit & membership to the Sports & Social club, as well as training at a different , 4G, pitch once a week. My DH is one of the coaches.

LadyPlasters · 09/01/2022 10:23

DS is £25 per month which includes 1x training and 1x match per week. 1x home kit and 1x away kit, 1x training jacket

DD is £11 for training once a week as she doesn't want to do matches

They attend different clubs

nuggetschicken · 09/01/2022 10:35

£25 a month. 1 training session and 1 game a week, sometimes an extra friendly. Tournament once a year.
Training kit and match kit. They also have a big day out together before any breaks in the season.

Hellocatshome · 09/01/2022 10:37

£20 a month all through the year they get home and away kit and training kit (we buy boots and shin pads) 1 training session a week, 1 match a week during the season, training continues over summer and they enter tournaments as well.

converseandjeans · 09/01/2022 10:55

£18/month for 1x training on fancy 4G pitch plus 1x match.

DH coaches & pre covid I fundraised so nobody ever had to pay for parties or socials. Now we ask for £10/term to cover Christmas party, end of season social & also tournament entries.

The £18/month goes to club to cover pitch fees, refs, general upkeep of club. Fees are paused now if we have a lockdown.

Oblomov22 · 09/01/2022 11:00

£25 per month.

Bouncer500 · 09/01/2022 11:08

£25 yearly admin fee, £25 per month and we buy our own kit.

Fiddlersgreen · 09/01/2022 11:12

Surely cost will depend on location too?
We pay £250 per year, kit not included.
We get 1 training session and 1 match per week, season runs from September to April/early May usually. We are in London

MrsKDB · 09/01/2022 11:17

it will depend on location, times per week training, amount spent on FA fees / kits etc. And PLEASE remember that the people running grass roots clubs get paid nothing, they are volunteering huge amounts of time to give your children a brilliant experience and need to do the official FA training weekends / update certificates as well.
