Kids grass roots football cost

Bagamoyo1 · 09/01/2022 09:01

My kids both play football, and one of the other parents says that another local team is much cheaper, and she thinks we’re being ripped off. So I wondered if people could tell me what they pay per year in subs.
Thanks

£12.50 per month (12 months a year) and £20 a year reg fee.

Includes at least one new kit per year plus tracksuit top or hoody. There's also often enough funds in the kitty for a free Xmas activity - last year they went go karting in Dec which was free.

I know ours is probably the cheapest by far in our area though - it's the biggest/most well regarding club in the County so they have queues of businesses lining up to sponsor the teams for kits etc. Many of the smaller clubs are far more expensive but have less kits and activities included.

£150 a season inc kit (not boots)
They usually have a decent end of season activity paid for by the club as well

£50 a year for subs then £20 a month for 4/5 months. Its about £150 a year.
We get kit provided except boots and shin pads.
We as parents though have also put money together to buy our lads same bags, water bottles and we got them some canvas benches to sit on but that doesnt come out of what we pay to the club

For anyone with football kids who need to buy their own kit, I assume this is because there's no team sponsor. It just doesn't occur to some teams to look for one.

If this is the case, float the idea with the coach and other parents - there are likely to be plenty of local businesses who would be willing to pay a few hundred quid for their business to be splashed all over the kit and team Facebook page etc.

I think we pay £20 per month , kit included. A huge thank you to all on here who are volunteer coaches and helpers . So many people give so much time for free - I think it’s an amazing thing to be a part of .

Just to say if it is too expensive talk to the coach. Quite often they can either allow you to pay over longer periods or have a fund to help.

This is a very good point - no way would our club not want a child to join in just because their parents couldn't afford it (but they'd obviously need to know about it first.)

Third this. They will not want children excluded if it’s genuinely out of reach but the child is keen.

Kids football is a middle class sport. It's expensive to run a team, so much external costs involved. Training facilities, match pitches, pvg's, first aid etc. Then the traipsing about to games at the weekends.

Would love to see more inclusion and free training in schools leading into academy funding if there is scope for the child to progress.

I'm £30 per month for my DS. 2 training sessions plus game at weekend. Match kit and training. No extras like jackets/hats/water bottles.
