Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in silence, as usual!

We're not doing much of anything today - last night's pots need to be washed, school shirts ironed and some washing done for the girls' uniforms. We need to nip to Asda too; I need a few things to make what we have in, into actual meals that'll feed us properly!

Both girls are still in bed atm, but I'm off up to get dressed at 9:30 ish, so will see how awake they are then & they can give me a hand.

There are a couple of smaller jobs to be done too - dd2's calendar needs a nail in the wall, and dd1 has some lights she wants to put up, there's something else too but I can't remember what it is 🤷‍♀️

I want to try and cram it all into today because tomorrow's my 40th birthday & I start a new position at work next week sometime so I'd like to spend tomorrow just "being" apart from cooking a roast.

Later on, they'll Minecraft or watch other people play Minecraft 🙄🤣! And I plan to carry on with the socks I'm crocheting for dd1.

What about everyone else? Anyone up to much? :)

Yep, it's part-time (18hrs) so I'm keeping my other hours. & in Early Years, so lots of learning through play.

You could always try it, and see how it goes? If one thing doesn't work out then maybe there'll be something else. I used to read with various classes on an afternoon, or help with activities in small groups (baking/fruit tasting were fun).

@Simonjt

We’re off to see our little girl this morning, so yet another day closer to finally bringing her home.

Later we’re off to Twinlakes as it’s on the way home, we haven’t been before but it looks like there will be plenty for a six year old to do.

We’re going to finish watching four lives this evening.

I hope everyone has a nice Sunday

Aww are you adopting @Simonjt? Sorry if I have misunderstood!

Yes early years is particularly what I want to do. I used to run toddler Sunday school at my church so plenty of experience. I also have a heart for Sen aswell so if I could combine the two it would be a dream! I know some makaton and bsl so that's a start! I dont use bsl myself though, I lipread mainly. Masks have been a challenge let's say!

@Lucysmam I stained it with a wood colour from Wilko. Very messy but it gave a lovely dark colour.

I've been for a walk and because the sun is shining I feel inspired to do some spring cleaning.

MrsDThomas · 09/01/2022 12:37

Im off to an afternoon of drinking prosecco and eating afternoon tea with friends

InFiveMins · 09/01/2022 13:02

Had a lie in today which was glorious! Done some cleaning but now we are spending the day relaxing as had a busy first week back after the Christmas break. Going to make homemade burgers for tea so that will keep me occupied later on, but until then just reading, browsing on here and might watch a film this afternoon.

I’ve done two washes, cleaned the fridge and the bins. A friend came round for coffee and I completed her tax return for her. DH is on an early at work, DMIL went to church (after doing all the ironing for the household) and goes to the pub after for a drink with her chums. DD is doing course work for college. I’m now prepping a big roast pork dinner for about 4pm and listening to the radio. I need to make a pudding, thinking pineapple upside down cake with custard. Love a Sunday like this.

@Plantsandpuddlesuits Yes we are 🥰

Very lazy day here! Dog walk and then showered him off. Lit the fire and the wax burner and hoovered the living room. DH is working out upstairs while I sit here with the animals contemplating a cup of tea Smile Later we will play board games and rustle up something good to eat.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 09/01/2022 14:32

How wonderful @Simonjt

@Littlewhiteballs it looks really good with your plants and books on it! I wouldn't even know where to start with something like that 🙈 Your dog's very sweet too.

@Simonjt I hope you had a lovely day seeing your little girl!
