Good Morning Mumsnet! What's everyone up to today?

I'm just drinking my first cuppa of the day, in silence, as usual!

We're not doing much of anything today - last night's pots need to be washed, school shirts ironed and some washing done for the girls' uniforms. We need to nip to Asda too; I need a few things to make what we have in, into actual meals that'll feed us properly!

Both girls are still in bed atm, but I'm off up to get dressed at 9:30 ish, so will see how awake they are then & they can give me a hand.

There are a couple of smaller jobs to be done too - dd2's calendar needs a nail in the wall, and dd1 has some lights she wants to put up, there's something else too but I can't remember what it is 🤷‍♀️

I want to try and cram it all into today because tomorrow's my 40th birthday & I start a new position at work next week sometime so I'd like to spend tomorrow just "being" apart from cooking a roast.

Later on, they'll Minecraft or watch other people play Minecraft 🙄🤣! And I plan to carry on with the socks I'm crocheting for dd1.

What about everyone else? Anyone up to much? :)

Got people coming. Told them I am in a laid back mood, so dont expect me to be jumping around.
Trying to work out in my head, how late I can leave everything!

DH and I are isolating, so not much.

DDs have been asking for boxes of their teddies / old toys to be brought down from the loft, so we may do that to keep them amused for a couple of hours.

It's either that or listen to them act out YouTube videos of Barbie Annabelle and and Isabelle.

Other than that, we'll probably play Jenga and Scrabble and probably watch a film later.

May order an Uber Eats for dinner, probably McDonalds for DDs and Chinese for DH and I.

If I get a -ve LFT tomorrow morning, and DD2 stays -ve then DDs and I can go out.

I’m supposed to be doing the food shop but currently still in my PJs with a snuggly puppy asleep on me.

Will get going soon then taking DS for a haircut later.

Lazy day after that. I’ve had the week off so I want to eke that out as much as I can and do some reading. DH will walk the dog and takeaway tonight.

DH is cooking a breakfast of scrambled egg, toast and bacon. Then I’m off to have my nails done while he pops to B&Q for lightbulbs. This afternoon we are off to the cinema we haven’t been in such a long time so really looking forward to it. Then home for homemade lamb burgers while we watch the end of Celebrity Apprentice Australia

Mix of dog walking which I’ve done! Pulled pork overnight for tomorrow and food for tonight done! 2.5 year old playing with toys- good vacuum around and hang washing up before back out with dogs

After a really busy week I'm being annoyingly unproductive today. 😔 I've been up since early, but have been basically on MN & procrastinating. Unusually for me I missed my exercise class, couldn't face it today.

Food shop to do, more decluttering & DS x2 have soccer training.

I feel like I've hit a wall in terms of life admin / jobs, hence the time wasting.

I'm going to eat something, disentangle fighting DC and get them to help with jobs, and make a Bolognese for later.

I'm 50 today. Just opened all my pressies etc and off out for a surprise lunch before DS1 goes back to uni.
Even the atrocious weather can't take the shine off.

Head pounding for the 2nd day, negative LFT even though 7 staff have gone down in the last two days. Duvet morning with the 6 year old then work later.

I'm so fed up.

Tea and toast in bed with the cat, dd9 is merrily tapping away on her computer. Taking down the Christmas decorations today and having a good clean. Making macorini cheese for dinner, kfc for dd. Looking forward to watching the masked singer later!

Still in bed, will start lunch at 12. DS 14 appears to be going out.

We’ve had coffee and amaretti in bed.

DH made me a cup of tea and I’m sitting in the living room, wrapped up in DH’s very thick towelling robe, just chilling (having a difficult few days), doing some virtual window shopping and MNetting. He’s cooking, getting our beef bourguignon started so it can cook slowly for a good few hours.

In a little while I’m going to have a shower and get myself ready for the day.

We’ve got a long list of house admin/chores that need catching up on, so we’ll be ticking those off today.

Later we’re having people over for dinner.

Isolating, trying not to eat all the Christmas chocolate in one sitting and about to have a movie day!!

Slightly better weather here today, just rain rather than hail 🤣

Not sure on plans for today, older ones have homework etc and are still asleep. Might take toddler on a walk (we are.aemi rural so lots of.open space) so DH (covid positive) can have a bit of quiet. Older ones can come if they want but think they will like a lazy day

Online shop arriving soon, had to order school uniform in with it as couldn't get any in the shops yesterday so I'll wash that when it arrives etc

Sausage and mash for tea..need to go down to the village to the butcher's to get sausages we aren't keen on supermarket ones. Out butcher's does some fantastic venisian and red wine ones this time of year might get those for DH and I and do a slow cooker sausage casserole for us and children can have sausage and mash. Decisions decisions 🤣

Thanks @Plantsandpuddlesuits, I'm just enjoying the silence before the girls get up. Dd2 left me a note "morning mum, happy birthday, don't get too old", to get up to 🤣

I'm going in as normal tomorrow to run through everything after dinner time with either the Deputy Head, or Head, depending who's available.

Those sausages sound lush! Definitely get those for you and DH! We're just having roast chicken - my friend picked two up off the reduced shelf at Tesco on Friday; one for them and one for us.

Aww best of luck. It's a t.a job isn't it? I think I've said I'd love to be a t.a in the future.

I have a vague plan of offering to volunteer in my children's school when covid allows and then hopefully train at college. I have helped out on school trips etc but with being deaf I'm worried I won't be able to hear properly inside the school it might be a cacophony of noise. The trips I've helped with have been outside so alot easier to hear. It's hard to explain. I guess I'll just have to try and see how it goes!

We’re off to see our little girl this morning, so yet another day closer to finally bringing her home.

Later we’re off to Twinlakes as it’s on the way home, we haven’t been before but it looks like there will be plenty for a six year old to do.

We’re going to finish watching four lives this evening.
