Dystopian Netflix series

Can anybody recommend a good dystopia or Sci-fi Netflix series? I keep starting to watch stuff and it turns out to be bollocks 🙄 my latest failure is The I-Land. It's embarrassingly bad. I want something that's decent quality with good actors and proper characters etc.

I liked Squid Games if that's any help. I can't follow anything that's mega convoluted or over complicated 😄

I've watched a one about robots having human consciousness and that was good.

I've watched the Black Mirrors. They're great, I've been re-watching them tbh.

Snowpiercer is good.

BooksAndGin · 06/01/2022 15:25

12 monkeys, the tv series not the movie. It was on Netflix a while back but not sure if it's been removed but it was fantastic.

Travelers is good too.

HobnobsChoice · 06/01/2022 15:27

3% is good. Brazilian so it's subtitled but I think there is a dubbed version if you prefer

I also liked Sweet Tooth.
I started watching The Rain as well which is in a similar vein and I also would recommend Black Mirror and Humans (which might be the robot one you refer to).

Handmaid’s Tale…..

StormTreader · 06/01/2022 15:28

I personally really enjoyed NightFlyers although its only one season

RunningInTheWind · 06/01/2022 15:32

To the Lake - it’s Russian and makes covid look like a bit of a damp squib.

ufucoffee · 06/01/2022 15:34

What was the one about the robots OP? Sounds interesting.

Cooroo · 06/01/2022 15:35

La Valla is Spanish and set in a Dystopian near future. A good watch.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/01/2022 15:35

What was the one about the robots OP? Sounds interesting.

It was called Humans. Three series, originally shown on Channel 4. Really good characters.

The Good Place.

It's distopian/Sci fi but a comedy. With Ted Danson. It has everything one could need in a TV show.

Ylvamoon · 06/01/2022 15:37

Not a series but I enjoyed What happened to Monday on Netflix.

titchy · 06/01/2022 15:45

Umbrella academy, dark, the rain, Silent sea, the 3%

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/01/2022 15:58

I loved Altered Carbon on Netflix and The Expanse (originally Netflix but all the series are on Amazon Prime now).

If you have Amazon Prime then I also recommend Upload, however there is only one season. I've been waiting for season two for ages, I don't think it's coming at this stage.

I've just finished Devs on Netflix and it was quite slow-moving but at the same time it really pulled me in.

See. It’s the best one for miles - a universe where being blind is the norm and seeing is a disability that gets you killed.

Years and Years. Fucking amazing - the trans allegory is particularly amazing.

Expanse.

Snowpiercer.

Walking Dead

Firefly

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/01/2022 16:14

Thanks for all these recommendations 👍🏻

My DP watched The Leftovers, which is more supernatural than dystopian maybe (2 per cent of the world disappears without trace). He said it was really good, particularly the second series. We watched Devs together which was pretty good, not totally amazing.

titchy · 06/01/2022 16:20

Oh yea years and years was bloody brilliant! And devs

Thecurtainsofdestiny · 06/01/2022 16:20

Better than Us. It's in Russian with English subtitles available.

If you liked Humans, you'd probably like it.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/01/2022 17:51

I don't think See is on Netflix Ozanj or, at least, it's not coming up on my search.

sohypnotic · 06/01/2022 18:11

Another vote for Altered Carbon

Also Lost in Space - first series is a bit family adventure, but it develops more and series 3 was excellent

Stranger Things
Black Summer - zombies
Kingdom - Korean zombies
Bird box - film
