Dystopian Netflix series

Can anybody recommend a good dystopia or Sci-fi Netflix series? I keep starting to watch stuff and it turns out to be bollocks 🙄 my latest failure is The I-Land. It's embarrassingly bad. I want something that's decent quality with good actors and proper characters etc.

I liked Squid Games if that's any help. I can't follow anything that's mega convoluted or over complicated 😄

See is on Apple TV, which also has Invasion which fits the bill. For All Mankind is also space based and excellent.

Hellbound

I’ve been really enjoying Sisyphus on Netflix.

Love some of these suggestions - I've taken some screenshots.

My faves are:

Snowpiercer
The Silent Sea (latest South Korean release)
Alice in Borderland (a sort of Japanese Squid Game)

I also liked Colony (post alien invasion).

Like you, I start watching loads of these shows but get bored quickly. I love some of the foreign language ones (Dark is awesome) but I hate the awful dubbing. I avoid subtitles as I'm one of those annoying people who do something else whilst watching tv.

doadeer · 06/01/2022 18:27

Do you have apple TV? See and Foundation might appeal

Rubyupbeat · 06/01/2022 18:28

'Alice' is very good, lots of twists and turns and great characters (not to be confused with 'Alice in borderland'
OA was good, but has been cut after 2 series, which left you hanging.

MrsPsmalls · 06/01/2022 18:33

Snowpiercer
The Good Place - not dystopian really, but weird in its own way.

hotchocdrinker · 06/01/2022 18:33

Dark is absolutely brilliant. I binged three series over an alarmingly short period of time. German with subtitles but my German comprehension improved no end!

HugeAckmansWife · 06/01/2022 18:39

Brave New World - though that might have been on Prime. Its nothing really like the book but good.

BarrowInFurnessRailwayStation · 06/01/2022 18:40

I don't have Apple TV or Prime, just Netflix.

Hellbound - Korean with subtitles and really very good.

ParadiseLaundry · 06/01/2022 18:45

Snowpiercer
Travelers - so underrated IMO
Daybreak - dystopian comedy, sadly got cancelled after 2 season though but I really enjoyed it

ParadiseLaundry · 06/01/2022 18:45

Sorry 1 season, not 2

SparkleWhale · 06/01/2022 18:46

Dark is good but it is complicated.

SufferingJet · 06/01/2022 18:48

DARK is amazing.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 06/01/2022 18:52

I'd forgotten about Travelers, it had a really excellent cast, especially the guy who was an extremely old man in a teenager's body. I was unsure when I started watching it because I often get very annoyed with time travel things not having a consistent logic but the storyline was really good from that point of view.

Latenightreader · 06/01/2022 18:52

3% is brilliant. I managed to watch the first series with subtitles and the second dubbed so it was a bit odd, but I've actually considered resubscribing for a month to finish watching.

inmyslippers · 06/01/2022 18:53

The one

GCITC · 06/01/2022 19:09

Katla

missnevermind · 06/01/2022 19:17

There is a Russian version of Humans called Just Like Us. And honestly it's 10 time better. On Netflix

Serenschintte · 06/01/2022 19:17

Colony on Netflix is good. Lots of episodes so lasts a good long time

missnevermind · 06/01/2022 19:30

Zoo was good too.
The Barrier. Near future set in Spain in Spanish
Songbird. A film about Covid still being about in the Future
The Silent Sea
How It Ends
Space Sweepers
Warrior Nun. (yes really)

Pieceofpurplesky · 06/01/2022 19:42

Lots already mentioned! My list makes me seem like a teenager!

Zoo
Colony
Black Summer and Z Nation (same universe completely different shows)
Snowpiercer
The Witcher
Izombie (like chick lit zombies)
Shadowhunters
The Rain
Elves
Santa Clarita Diet
The 100
October Faction

midsomermurderess · 06/01/2022 20:08

I'd recommend The Leftovers too. 2% of the population suddenly and inexplicably vanishes, in a rapture-type event and those left behind have to try to come to terms/make sense of it.

Dizzylizzy22 · 06/01/2022 20:10

Don't think it's on Netflix but Amazon Prime but as always the book is better. 'The Road' by Cormack Mcarthy.
