Ubiquitous TV/film personalities

I get really frustrated when the same few "stars" get wheeled out again and again to the point where you just become sick of the sight of them even if you quite liked them originally.

It happened with Tony Slattery many years ago (not a happy ending) and also Caròl Vorderman.

Nowadays I can't seem to go a day without seeing Romesh Ranganathan, Tom Allen, Dr Michael fucking Moseley and even, God love her, Olivia Coleman.

Who else is over exposed? I'd love to see some more actors and presenters getting a share of the work but producers/casting directors just seem so unimaginative.

God yes I remember Carol Voderman on TV constantly. She did loads of ads too.

Obviously Phil & Holly have to top the list. Sick of the sight of them.

Eamonn Holmes appears on every ad break.

The vicar Kate (Botley?) seemed to appear on every quiz show going over Xmas.

Suranne Jones in gritty dramas is samey samey everytime. She's the new Keely Hawes.

I've been watching Four Lives, about the serial killer, and it took me ages to work out it was Sheridan Smith playing one of the victims mothers. She's a great actress but doesn't seem to do a lot, or maybe I've just missed TV and films she's been in.

A580Hojas · 06/01/2022 15:29

Good call on Phil & Holly. Similarly, how could I have forgotten Ant & Dec?

45Degrees · 06/01/2022 15:43

More recently Olly Alexander. Seems to be in everything.

AmyDudley · 06/01/2022 16:04

Dr Ranj
The vicar lady

CarButtonCloth · 06/01/2022 17:11

Bradley Walsh

A580Hojas · 06/01/2022 19:02

Suranne Jones, Nicola Walker, Keeley Hawes.

Are there no other 40s ish female actors who can fill those roles?

Rylan also.

I'm not a fan of Phil and Holly but I don't find them to be 'everywhere'.

NightmareSlashDelightful · 06/01/2022 19:12

Timothee Chalamet

Clawdy · 06/01/2022 19:32

Yes, Bradley Walsh is everywhere! And Lily James is in everything.

BellaChagall · 06/01/2022 19:33

Gregg Wallace. He's everywhere.

BeefSupreme · 06/01/2022 19:34

10 posts in and nobody has mentioned Gregg Bloody-Hell-Him-Again Wallace?

BeefSupreme · 06/01/2022 19:34

Oops X post

bizboz · 06/01/2022 19:35

Immediately came on to say Ant and Dec! Also Michael McIntyre.

ScreamingMeMe · 06/01/2022 19:39

Definitely Ant and Dec!

Cuck00soup · 06/01/2022 19:46

Richie Anderson from radio 2

Maireas · 06/01/2022 19:48

Olivia Colman is in everything. At the risk of sounding heretical, I think she's overrated as an actress (ducks for cover)

A580Hojas · 06/01/2022 19:49

Love the Greg Wallace x post Grin.

To ubiquitous chefs I will add Tom Kerridge. Yes, ok love, you lost 10 stone. We all know now.

OP posts:
Maireas · 06/01/2022 19:57

Bradley Walsh

There was a time when Rita Ora was on the cover of every magazine, every advert, the face of perfume/sportswear/phones/trainers, a judge on multiple talent shows, musical collaborations with every popular male singer, she even performed at the Oscars. I always wondered if she had an "arrangement" with someone.

Haven't seen her for years so maybe the arrangement ended.

Romesh Ranganathan - one night in Dec he was on a different show at the same time on four channels.

KimWexlersPonyTail · 06/01/2022 21:04

Rev Richard Coles gets in everything on BBC Can't be doing much vicaring.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 06/01/2022 21:43

Agree re Olivia Colman.

Nicola Walker and her lookalike Anna whatsername from Line of Duty and Motherland.

Clawdy · 06/01/2022 23:05

I've never thought Nicola Walker and Anna Maxwell Martin look at all alike! Shock

mumofEandE · 06/01/2022 23:08

Yes - came on to say Romesh Ranganathan
The BBC are guilty of doing this - fixating on a celebrity and then putting them on everything- like Michael McIntyre

StCharlotte · 07/01/2022 00:29

Yes to Olivia Coleman. Also David Tennant.

Sarah Lancashire and Keeley Hawes seem to be taking a break.

Jobs for the boys innit.

CailleachGranda · 07/01/2022 02:00

Oti from strictly. Really being pushed as a celeb and is on everything

And yes to that godawful Richie Anderson.
