Best spa hotel England/Wales?

custardbear · 05/01/2022 13:13

Hi can I seek your advice on a really good quality spa hotel in England or wales? It's for a significant birthday retreat - looking for non-city as want to walk, preferably in hills or somewhere picturesque.
Spa wise - lots of different spa rooms would be best (went to somewhere that had a tiny sauna and steam, I think they were in changing rooms if I recall so couldn't go in with DH)
Many thanks

I've not been myself but have heard great things about this place.
West Wales is just lovely. You can walk for miles along the coastal path. Lovely places to visit...Tenby, narbeth, st governs chapel, barafundle bay to name just a few.

Have a lovely trip wherever you go!

Lodore Falls near Keswick in the Lake District looks nice. I've driven past it several times and you can see the steam rising from the outdoor pool, your view would be Derwentwater, and the Skiddaw fell range in the distance.
I'm determined to stay there one day Smile

Oh my god I was coming on the exact same thing! We drove past it and I was really envious of the people in the pool, it looked awesome! No idea what it is actually like to stay at though.

Woodland Spa in Burnley is amazing and countryside such as Pendle Hill, Forest of Bowland and some nice large parks nearby.

Fairlawns hotel and spa, Hoar Cross Hall, Pennyhill Park

CurbsideProphet · 05/01/2022 13:39

Woodland Spa is supposed to be lovely, especially because it's adults only. A lot of spas are within health clubs so you can't guarantee how busy they will be with members using the facilities.

Swinton Park is lovely and has a fabulous spa.

lilao · 05/01/2022 14:24

Ragdale Hall would be absolutely perfect for this - it is hands down the best spa I have ever been to

The Grove is lovely. I speak this as a local to the area; try to put the nearness to Watford out of your mind, it's actually set on a nice estate. We walked around their grounds a lot in lockdown. In fact, sometimes we stay over there and take the longer route to spin the journey out to a full 15 minutes...

Another vote for woodland spa - there are various different rooms within the spa and some outside pools/jacuzzis as well. The hotel is new and has its own restaurant in addition to the one in the spa, both are lovely, and the hotel is nice and service excellent. There will be some nice walks around there too, though I haven’t done any myself as I prefer the spa Grin

The Last Drop in Bolton is lovely, I admit I've only been for a drink there but would love to go and have a spa stay. It's like a little village, so beautiful Smile

The Lucknam Park Hotel & Spa near Bath is divine and so is the food.

Rudding park Harrogate. So nice and lovely service.

The Aqua Sana spa at Center Parcs is amazing! They have something like 15 different steam rooms & sauna, as well as an indoor hydro pool and outdoor swimming pool.

Pre covid you could just book a spa day without staying at the parc. Not sure they're allowing it at the moment

Another vote for St Brides Hotel & Spa. It's on the cliff in saundersfoot and has beautiful views. Many beautiful walks , beaches etc nearby.
I'm a trained therapist and been in many spas and I can say that St Brides spa is lovely. No separate rooms. All the thermal suite rooms are in one place . Outdoor jacuzzi with beautiful views .

StNickNock · 05/01/2022 15:06

Fairlawns spa in Aldridge, I see I am not the first to recommend it!
