Do you have a hobby?

I don't have a hobby and I feel like doing something just for me, just for the enjoyment could be a nice thing to try, but I have no idea what. What hobbies do you or people you know have?
Thanks!

I go to bootcamps - very inclusive and good fun.

I also run with friends but there are lots of running clubs around - also park run is excellent and social.

I have thought about joining a book club before but not got round to that yet.

This year I’m planning to learn to ski (hopefully).

I did also used to enjoy sewing, just basic stuff, making decorations and bunting etc.

I need to change my evenings of mumsnet, moaning there is nothing on the TV and folding clean washing

I sew, do a lot of card making and recently learned crochet. I also do yoga etc. but don’t class it as a hobby where some might!

Lathemistress · 01/01/2022 16:26

I do wood turning, pyrography and also knitting and crochet.

Nix2020 · 01/01/2022 16:29

Boot camp and running here. Keeping on the lookout for a barre class locally.

Starcaller · 01/01/2022 16:30

Felting, playing piano, gaming!

Freddofan · 01/01/2022 16:34

Running (solo and with a club), knitting and crochet ( teaching myself with small fun projects such as tea cosies and gnomes).

XenoBitch · 01/01/2022 16:39

VR gaming.

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 01/01/2022 16:41

Art and photography and a few different crafty things.

HeyMicky · 01/01/2022 16:41

Roller skating (derby) and tap dancing

I got an allotment nearly 2 years ago with a good friend and we love it there! In the summer we go on a Friday night with a can of pimms! However this time of year there’s a lot less to do. I have done couch to 5k before and let it all slip so once kids are back to school (and I get over Covid I have at the mo) I am going to try this again! I’d love to be a bit fitter and just a few pounds lighter.

Joxster · 01/01/2022 16:49

Running, cycling and swimming. I like to read too mainly SF and Fantasy if that’s a hobby!

AffIt · 01/01/2022 16:55

I play rugby! I'm getting on a bit now, though, so will probably make the shift from playing full contact to touch and doing a bit of coaching over the next couple of years (although I've been saying 'this season is my last' for about five years, now...).

My OH plays and coaches too, and our club is a great community.

Reading is definitely a hobby

Placemarking too. I’m wondering whether to join a local salsa class, or whether I’ll look out of place because I’m fat! Silly, I know.

I’m hoping to take up swimming as well.

janedani · 01/01/2022 17:03

I play tennis, I play socially 1 night a week and have lessons once a week.

missmodular2 · 01/01/2022 17:05

Yes! I play the guitar and am a member of a couple of music groups. I'm also learning the violin as a lockdown project with a view to joining an amateur orchestra when I'm good enough. Other than that I cycle 2-3 times a week and am about to start the Yoga with Adrienne daily challenge in January. I also love baking and gardening.

I love my hobbies Smile

Bettybantz · 01/01/2022 17:06

Outdoor swimming - it’s a great community and lots of fun

Cattenberg · 01/01/2022 17:12

If I include people I know:

Samba drumming - my friend is in a band and loves performing live
Knitting
Rug-making
Dungeons and Dragons
Park run
Spinning class
Photography
Yoga

yoshiblue · 01/01/2022 17:13

Crochet, reading, ballet class, gym. Going to start tennis this year too.

Matbest · 01/01/2022 17:55

So many good ideas on here, mulling a few over.
Considering adult swimming lessons as I am a very weak swimmer and have a holiday booked for August in a resort by the sea and with a pool...

So many possibilities.

Do you want
physical exercise?
Something to get you outdoors?
to learn a new skill?
to meet new people?
to give something back into the community / society?
to do at home?
to go out to, regularly (say weekly)?
to take up something you used to do?
to improve something (like swimming as you say) you can do?
to try something completely new?
or out of your usual comfort zone?

I guess I just want ideas for things I might not have thought of. Something enjoyable and engrossing, which could be anything. Don't really want to meet new people, as miserable as that sounds! My job involves being around a lot of people every day.

I've just booked a Body Balance class for Thursday to give that a try. Apparently a mixture of yoga, pilates and Thai chi...
