Lower back pain, upset stomach, nausea…anyone else had this mystery bug??

Since yesterday I have really terrible lower back pain-right the way across and around my kidneys, have the runs and feel very nauseous (not actually been sick but don’t tend to), headache, generally exhausted and a headache. Really odd feeling. I have zero appetite and haven’t eaten at all today. We’ve had covid in the house but clearly not covid symptoms and every test each day for the past 7 days and including today has been negative.

Anyone else had similar?

Yes! I've felt like this since Wednesday. I find it improves in the evening but comes back with a vengeance in the morning. I've LFT each day and it's negative

Oh although I’m sorry you feel the same, I’m glad it’s not just me! Have you got the back pain too? So strange!

I did have the 1st 24 hours but the pain has subsided now. It makes you feel really ropey. I hope you feel better soon

Lower back ache and nausea are apparently two of the three omicron symptoms (anecdotal rather than published).

Paranoidandroidmarvin · 31/12/2021 18:22

Yes. I had it a few weeks ago. I spent two nights sleeping on the bathroom floor and at points (tmi sorry ) it was coming out of both ends. Have never had a sickness bug like it.
I worked with kids for 30 years so my immune system is solid. But this got through. Not been ill for years and this side blinded me n

Oh gosh, sounds really rough! The back pain is the thing that’s throwing me. Did you have that too? Worrying now about omicron!

Are you sure it's not a kidney infection? The symptoms are very similar.

Motnight · 31/12/2021 18:32

My dd had these symptoms. Tested positive for covid yesterday with a pcr. She only went for the test as is NHS worker and needs to be extra careful, but had had daily negative tests at home.

EcoCustard · 31/12/2021 18:32

I have pain in my lower back and kidneys like an infection. No nausea but lost all appetite.
I tested positive for Covid yesterday. I can only describe the back pain is similar to back ache when Labour starts.

Theyellowflamingo · 31/12/2021 18:36

Sounds very much like covid to be quite honest, especially if it’s in the house. The symptoms now are quite different to just the core three. If you can get a pcr I would take one.

PineappleMojito · 31/12/2021 18:38

I had something similar on Christmas Eve. I assume it was a 24h sickness bug as was fine by evening on Christmas Day. But rotten while it lasted

PollyGray · 31/12/2021 18:46

I have it now, the exact same symptoms. Had it since last Weds and initially thought it was side effects of Sertaline. Very odd, every now and then I feel better then it comes back.
I'm waiting for pcr results to come back but all my LFT's were negative.
I feel kind of relieved that it's not just me, as I have health anxiety and have been imagining all kinds of things.

Happylittlethoughts · 31/12/2021 19:39

Those were my Covid symptoms 👀

Pieceofpurplesky · 31/12/2021 19:42

@Paranoidandroidmarvin that sounds more like norovirus - both ends is a telltale sign

SarahWoodWould · 31/12/2021 19:43

Sounds similar to when I was coming down with Covid.

greenweepingwillow · 31/12/2021 19:46

well I read that and thought - oh exactly the same symptoms as mine. I had a positve covid pcr on Chrismtas day. The nausea and back pain have been my worst symptom, although now on day 7 finally feeling better.

mater71 · 31/12/2021 19:47

My daughter (16 years old) has had the same symptoms for the last 4 or 5 days. Negative lateral flow tests until this morning when she tested positive.

Hope that you’re feeling better soon 💐

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 31/12/2021 19:49

Based on others things I've seen on here those are omicron symptoms. Not saying that's what you're got but I wouldn't dismiss the possibility.

itsgettingweird · 31/12/2021 19:51

I've been like this for 3 days!

No temp, cold symptoms or cough. Taste and smell normal and negative LFT.

I just feel so tired and my back hurts so much and my headaches even with painkillers.

itsgettingweird · 31/12/2021 19:53

Should add I don't have d or v. Feel sick but hungry sick and have really bad reflux with it too.

Lacedwithgrace · 31/12/2021 19:53

People on twitter and tiktok have discussed back and stomach/side pain with omicron. Might be worth getting a PCR to rule it out

elizabethdraper · 31/12/2021 19:54

They are all omicron symptoms

Oct test

I have all these to - it's omicron
inheritancetrack · 31/12/2021 19:56

They are omicron symptoms as reported from S africa. I'd get a PCR test, I think LFT tests are for asymptomatic and you are having symptoms :-(

Aderyn21 · 31/12/2021 19:59

I've had back pain and cramps for a few days. I put it down to coming off my low carb diet and also changing my HRT. DS had covid though so maybe I ought to check.
