Where to shop for clothes for a 12yo boy

My usual staples of Fat face / John Lewis / Marks & Spencer's aren't really cutting it anymore. I did get some nice skinny jeans in Next recently, but where else could I look for some things?

DS would probably like some tracksuit bottoms, but I'm not very keen 😄🙈. Is there a slightly different / smart tracksuit bottom that I haven't found yet?

Thanks!

I find that my teen likes to wear a Jean jogger. Found them on the Next site.

gettingolderbutcooler · 30/12/2021 16:19

Skinny Levi's are great.

Neolara · 30/12/2021 16:21

Next and H & M are your friends.

Thanks everyone, I'll have another look around online this evening 🙂.

I haven't ordered from H&M for years, I think because they took weeks to deliver - do they still do that?

H and m had some trousers with a jogger style top. Ds wont wear Jean's and I'm sick of seeing joggers so this was a good compromise. Lots of colour choices.
That was in store so not sure on delivery

Exhausteddog · 30/12/2021 16:55

My 12 year old has no jnterest in clothes at all. (Or labels!) He won't wear jeans and lives in shorts (or joggers) and tshirts and a hoodie.
He literally wears the same whether lounging around the house, going to a restaurant for dinner, or going to the park with friends! I borrowed a pair if trousers for him to wear to a funeral as the only trousers he owns are joggers.
Most of his stuff is from H and M, TK Maxx or sports directBlush

GiltEdges · 30/12/2021 16:57

My god children who are both around that age wear a lot of Hype branded clothes.

leccybill · 30/12/2021 17:05

Hype stuff is a bit (a lot) gaudy but washes and wears well, and they have good sales.

I mostly buy DD 12 clothes from Mountain Warehouse and Surfdome now.

Agree, it can be gaudy! Though for Christmas I managed to find jogger/hoody sets in fairly neutral colours with only a small logo. They're quite pricey though for what they are.

H&M, Uniqlo. Also, take him shopping and ask what he likes. Mine really enjoyed it when I did this.

actiongirl1978 · 30/12/2021 17:44

DS wears whatever I buy him from hm, marks and Spencer etc.
I did get him a hollister hoodie for Xmas but he likes it because its soft not for the label.

Foxglovesandlilacs86 · 30/12/2021 17:44

My older boys that age just wear sports stuff all the time now. I wanted to avoid it but it’s what they like and what all their friends wear! They prefer Nike over Adidas.

ZenNudist · 30/12/2021 17:54

For t shirts and hoodies try sonneti. Very popular with that age. We shop at next and h&m and sports direct and tk maxx. I didn't know that 12yo boys could be persuaded to wear much other than joggers or maybe jeans. My ds loves clothes. He has a tonne of stuff.

Hockeyboysmum · 31/12/2021 17:28

My 12 year old and his friends all wear sports stuff. Mainly adidas or nike.

Hellocatshome · 31/12/2021 17:31

For t shirts and hoodies try sonneti I think this must depend on your area, no 12 year old where I live would be seen dead in Sonneti. Basically anything from JD or Foot Assylum that isn't Sonneti or Mackenzie is a fairly safe bet ot if you want something cheaper try Boohoo Man. Unless they are very small xs man's should fit them.

MsEmmeline · 02/01/2022 10:20

Maybe I need to relax a bit about the jogging bottoms 😄.

Thanks everyone, I'll have a look at the brands suggested. DS isn't bothered about brand names yet, but I suppose he might be at some point.

DS(13) has no
Real interest in clothes, but like the paint drip stuff from Hype, jeans and joggers from Next. He’s in age 16 for height, so H&M getting too small.

Rivermonsters · 02/01/2022 10:25

Uniqlo ?

TerrifiedandWorried · 02/01/2022 10:25

Mine lives in skinny jeans and band tshirts (or assassins creed or d&d). Hoodie if he's cold (rarely happens!).

windowstothesoul · 02/01/2022 10:26

My 12 year old boy happy in Zara - good jeans & good hoody's/jumpers -

Oneforthemoneytwo · 02/01/2022 10:27

I def think you need to relax about the jogging bottoms. They comfy and also completely standard wear for 12 year old boys.

Mine likes plain clothes so plain joggers from H&M as they are quite slim. Plain sweatshirts and hoodies from H&M or I buy Gildan on amazon. Plain slightly soft slim jeans from next and plain T-shirts from H&M. He’s not bothered about labels unlike his older brother

alwaysstressed · 02/01/2022 10:27

Anything from JD Sports. Nike, The North Face or Under Armour is all my ds11 will wear

scaredsadandstuck · 02/01/2022 10:31

Yeah, give over on the joggers - never understood the snobbery about them. If you had girls you'd presumably let them wear leggings as they are comfy and practical. Lots of them are slim fit now which makes them look a bit smarter (if you need him to be smart)? Although a middle ground is cargos which are back in again (apparently!). My fashion conscious 13yo is in men's clothing already, which is expensive but better choice!

I'd recommend Next, H&M (their delivery is much better than it was - I remember the 3 week thing too) and Zara. H&M sizing is a bit odd though and they don't have as much for older boys, whereas Next do a huge range of stuff.

Tulipvase · 02/01/2022 10:32

My 13 year old wears shorts or skinny jeans and a hoody. All the time. But he’s in mens small now so we tend to get next jeans in age 16 and then hoodies from M &M, ASOS etc. he isn’t massively fussy but does like Nike. He has a Jack Wills hoody he loves but it takes days to dry as it’s so thick!

furbabymama87 · 02/01/2022 10:34

My son and his friends all wear sports wear, mainly Under Armour. I'd let him wear trackies if that's what he wants even if you don't like them as he's old enough to decide what he likes and you don't want to isolate him from what all his friends will be wearing.
