What's everyone up to today?

I'm mid-way through cleaning the kitchen & having a coffee break. Just a few bits to freeze so they don't go to waste & some pots left to sort.

No-one else has surfaced yet so it's lovely and quiet!

I'll finish my coffee, finish off the kitchen & by then hopefully dd2 will be up. The plan for today was to sort her bookshelf, drawers and wardrobe so her new things from Christmas and her birthday can go away properly.

Later on, I'd like to start my new crochet project of some socks dd1 requested. I was given the contrast colour yarn for Christmas & had a quick play with it last night but am not keen on the hook I tried so will try another one.

What about all of you? Anyone up to anything much? Xmas Smile

Dying Sad I decided to relive my 2005 holiday spent sipping margheritas on a tropical beach but in my living room.

Woke up at 3am with a pounding headache and needing to throw up. Couldn't take paracetamol as even the smallest sip of water sent me running back to the toilet. Spent 3 hours moaning and groaning in ds's bed (he invaded mine so I left him to it so as not to wake him). Both dc woke up at 7am demanding breakfast and homemade smoothies so had to deal with that while feeling extremely fragile. I'm now sitting on the couch watching sunny bunnies and feeling extremely sorry for myself. Bring on dry January!

Pegasussnail · 29/12/2021 11:35

We are at a hotel (very rare treat) for a night.
It's lovely. Heading to the beach soon and it very wet and windy. Spot of shopping.
Then it's back to reality.

CremeEggThief · 29/12/2021 11:36

I got up just before 10.30 and had a nice breakfast and used the last of the Baileys in my coffee. It's absolutely bucketing it down here and I have the house to myself, so thinking of going back to bed to read my book. The alternative is doing housework (that can probably wait a few days.)

ivfbabymomma1 · 29/12/2021 11:37

That sounds like a lovely morning OP

I'm going to spend the day resisting the urge to take down the Xmas decorations (young son) and then later on my mum is having my son and I'm going out with DH for the first time this Xmas child free so looking forward to that! Although hes been a little angel this Xmas so far so I actually think I'll miss him lol!

I hope you feel better soon other poster who js poorly :(

Itsnotdeep · 29/12/2021 11:39

I'm cleaning - kids are at their dads (teens are managing a whole 24 hours) so I have a quiet house for a bit. Took the tree down yesterday.

I hope to get a couple of hours in a clean house before they all get back.

poppym12 · 29/12/2021 11:39

Lying on a sun lounger, watching the boats bobbing about on the sea. Trying to accept that's there's sod all I can do about my adult DC's life other than carry on loving them and being there for them if they ever need me.

liveforsummer · 29/12/2021 11:58

I'm sitting in bed mumsnet ring with the dog sleeping on my legs. Tempted by all the talk on here of baileys in coffee. Have lots to do in the house but simply cba

Had a lie in with baby DD, DH had Ds and some cartoons for a bit. Unpacked most of our bags from staying at relatives for Xmas, been out for a splash in the puddles, Ds now napping so want to tidy all the new stuff away.

Got some life admin bits to do, then making salmon with lots of veggies tonight.

Clarkey86 · 29/12/2021 12:00

Waiting for my c-section - I’m last on the morning list so should be any time now but I’m sooo bored and sooo thirsty!

Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 29/12/2021 12:01

I've cleaned out the pets and groomed them, made breakfast, moaned about the weather, put some washing on and had a shower. Not sure about later on.

lucysmam · 29/12/2021 12:05

Oh dear @Littlewhiteballs. I don't envy you one bit having to deal with breakfast smoothie making with a hangover!

@Clarkey86 good luck! What an exciting way to spend the day Thanks

Nothing much - DH and DS have work to do with deadlines attached and DD and me are off work / uni until the 3rd. DD is reading and drawing.
I sort out the files, prepare the end of year family accounts, set up next years budgets, check if all work, photos, my family research etc are properly backed up and so on. I am an admin person and enjoy that sort of thing.
Temps. have quickly gone up from -8 to +5 so my head grumbles.

I'm 99% certain I have another ruptured ovarian cyst, started yesterday evening. I'm laying in bed with a hot water bottle and DS watching dinosaurs and feeling sorry for myself.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 29/12/2021 13:12

Working. Half through an 11 hour shift. Got 4 days off now but adult step kids visiting with grandchildren. Told dh I am not getting dressed on Sunday, Xmas has been far too busy for my liking.

ssd · 29/12/2021 13:15

I'm quite content and cosy. Need to get shopping in and organise that. Dinner defrosting from last night. Nothing madly exciting but it'll keep us going. Just hoping the world opens up again next year for my grown up kids.

Inthesameboatatmo · 29/12/2021 13:17

I was supposed to be going out this evening but guy I'm seeing has tested positive on lft. I did wonder but he's sent ample proof of the truth. However I've arranged childcare for tonight so am not wasting the evening and am going out with friends instead .

Oatsamazing · 29/12/2021 13:30

I'm back at work, gardening at a historic property. Been clearing leaves, tidying up a shed and off to do some border work after lunch. I'm the only one in so enjoying the peace after 4 busy days of visiting family with my 1 year old DD.

Simonjt · 29/12/2021 13:34

My hero (Grandma) is having my son for the night, so we’re off to see Spider Man in a bit and the rest of the day will be a mixture of PS5, hottub and general laziness.

MrsDThomas · 29/12/2021 13:35

Cleaned the utility and kitchen. Taken the few decorations i had up there down. Living room next, leaving the decorations up till Saturday but i need polish and vacuum. Log fire plays havoc with my surfaces this time if year but i do live my fire. Then tackle the bathrooms . Back in work tomorrow for 2 days.

FrenchyQ · 29/12/2021 13:45

Been to the garden centre this morning and the Nike outlet store on the off chance they had black air force 1s in a size 13 🙄
Having a tidy up this afternoon.

SpikyHatePotato · 29/12/2021 13:47

Panto. All the fucking panto.

Way too much stuff. I was at work 8.30-2. It's utter chaos this week due to staffing issues (entertainment), so most of it was spent trying to find out what on earth is going on. Still none the wiser.

I did the weekly food shop on my way back. Currently sat eating lunch, then I need to hover, dust, mop, clean bathroom, do 2 loads of laundry and some ironing.

In 2 hours I go to the airport to pick up my parents, who are visiting. I'll take them to their AirBnb, then back to work 8-10pm. On my way home I have to pick up my brother, whose train gets in at 10.30pm. He's staying at my place so I'll have to make him some dinner when we get home, make the beds, and hopefully we're asleep by 1am. I'm dreading this evening. And tomorrow.

Nc123 · 29/12/2021 14:18

My mum and Aunty were visiting and went home this morning. I’m looking after my friend’s DS this afternoon and he and DS1 are making a film upstairs while DS2 is having some time on the switch. Later on when DH finishes work I will get a walk out on my own.

Goodness that's insane. Get your db to cook for himself or order a takeaway
