I saw there was a negative thread and didn’t want to go onto it with positive news and there might hopefully be others with a positive outlook for the coming year.

So what are you going to achieve, do, experience etc etc?

For myself I’m hopeful we’ll buy a house and I’m also getting married - a small ceremony but should be a good day.

Good idea for a thread op Smile

I'm going to give my little business 6 more months of hard work then decide if it's viable. I said I would give it a year initially, but I've learned so much this first year and made so many mistakes that I feel it would be a shame to throw it all away now.

It's also the year I get my body into shape! Yoga and calisthenics. Lots of meditation and healthy eating. I'm quite looking forward to it.

Littlewhiteballs · 29/12/2021 09:23

Oh and congratulations on your upcoming wedding Flowers

MrsRubyMonday · 29/12/2021 09:25

We're going to be buying our first house at the end of April, and then our first baby is due 8th May 🤣 it's going to be hectic but we've been working towards both for a long time, hopefully this is the start of lots of good things for us.

ShippingNews · 29/12/2021 09:27

My DC are adults, and for the last four years my DD and her husband and children have been living over 1,000 km away. With Covid in the mix, we have seen very little of each other.

Next week ( Yay !) they are coming back to live near us. They bought a house without even seeing it, and will be living so close, it's wonderful. This morning my grandson told me on the phone " Grandma, in 7 days we will be leaving here to come to you.....and in 8 days I will be hugging you so tight !"

I'm counting the minutes now. Lots of plans for our lives together, we're so close, it's a dream come true. 2022 promises to be wonderful.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 29/12/2021 09:30

Great thread idea!

My close family member is due a baby in February, I'm looking forward to that lots. My DS is the only child in our family at the moment so it will be nice to have another.

Hopefully we'll be going on our first foreign holiday since 2019 after so many Covid cancellations!

I'm determined to get fitter and lose a bit of weight too.

Tayegete · 29/12/2021 09:44

That’s so lovely shipping news. So pleased for all those with exciting adventures planned for 2022. I’ve been feeling quite negative about the year ahead but I’m going to try and work through how I can make my life more positive this coming year.

Bellafrenum · 29/12/2021 10:26

DH is going to learn to drive, I am going to pay off the car and therefore we will be debt free (not counting mortgage). I want a few grand in the savings account as well, and all the odd bits and bobs done around the house. Then we will go on the market early 2023.

We are planning our first holiday abroad in summer as a family of 4, to attend a wedding. Lots of other lovely bits planned for when the weather is nice.

I want to continue to completely plateau at work, I have managed a work/life balance for the first time in years and want to maintain it!

Youngest DS starts school in September which will be a big milestone.

I'm hoping we begin to truly come through the other side of the pandemic. I feel like this will be the year.

Finally, I am beginning to remember who I am now I am on the right medication. It has only been 3 months and I am looking forward to a full year of being alright.

firstimemamma · 29/12/2021 10:28

A baby in March Smile

MimiDaisy11 · 29/12/2021 11:45

Sounds good 😊

I forgot to add that I’m hoping to get a new job. I’ve got an interview in a week.

I'm hoping to completely renovate the kitchen. New cupboards that actually work for us, new floors. I'm looking forward to that.

I'm also starting a new job sometime in February which should be good.

I need to get fit and healthy this year. I've spent a lot of these past few months feeling poorly and sluggish.

LaughingLobster · 29/12/2021 16:47

We're moving country! We've been expats for many years but I've never felt so ready for a fresh new start!

Champagneforeveryone · 29/12/2021 16:54

We're buying our first house (I'm mid 40's so it's really time!)

DS will be going to uni in the autumn.

After several years of lassitude it feels like 2022 might actually be quite exciting Xmas Smile

Agadorsparticus · 29/12/2021 16:58

A new house, we've been homeless for the last 4 months and hope to be in our new home asap.

kleew1 · 29/12/2021 17:00

I'm going to be graduating with my first degree as a mature student and starting a graduate position. My little one will also be starting school! A year of firsts.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 29/12/2021 17:05

I’m going to beat this shitty cancer I was diagnosed with back in October 👊🏼
I’m going to continue with counselling to beat my anxiety and demons.
I’m going to resume my degree studies that I’ve had to suspend (only one year left…so I intend to get ahead on my dissertation and hit the ground running when I pick it back up in October 2022).
I’m going to put myself first for the first time in 48 years.

SerenTarot · 29/12/2021 17:08

I' ve been watching loads of wild camping videos on YouTube and I really want to give it a go.

Just heading off into the wild (or as near as you can get to the wild in the UK) with a backpack and a tent and pitching up for the night.

I'm fascinated by all the gear - the care they take to carry minimal weight but every single thing they do carry serves a purpose. Then there's the durability of the tents - these little shelters than can endure the most horrific weather conditions, and just the freedom and solitude it brings.

I've got no plans to deliberately go storm camping (which many of them do!) It will be strictly spring/summer for me and I'm not quite up to taking on the Cape Wrath trail just yet, but maybe I could manage a night or two on Exmoor?

Olliesocks · 29/12/2021 17:11

Hopefully finish (and pass) my work related Masters degree. 🤞

ExPatHereForAChat · 29/12/2021 17:14

Such a feel good thread!

I strongly feel 2022 is the year we "heal" from COVID, as soppy as that sounds.
Planning on lots of travel to see family and enjoy some much needed sun.
Eager to bring DS1 to lots of things he's missed out on like museums and other days out.
Another nephew on the way.
All going well, we'll have baby number 2 in August.
Life's looking good!

ImInStealthMode · 29/12/2021 17:19

Are you me OP? Getting married and hopefully selling my flat and buying a bigger one Smile.

Also determined to drop 6-8 lockdown kilos before the wedding, cross the threshold of the gym that I pay a fortune for more than once a month, and finally start looking after my skin. Ask me again in February about these things

Also looking forward to (or at least hoping that) my industry will start to get back to normal and I can actually do the job I was promoted to in 2021 rather than just fire-fighting disasters.

Figgyboa · 29/12/2021 17:20

Same OP! Moving states, live in the US, with a view to buying either late 2022 or early 2023. Got engaged on Xmas day, probably wont get married until we've brought a house but looking forward to doing some research and being a fiancee.

Sunsetsupernova · 29/12/2021 17:25

Really hoping we get to buy our first house in 2022. We’ve been saving for a long time but DP is self-employed and the fact he couldn’t work during lockdowns means that getting a mortgage has been impossible.

I started working for a very exciting start up this year and looking forward to seeing it scaling internationally in 2022 which will hopefully mean lots of opportunity for my role

Getting engaged would also be nice Grin

mumofEandE · 29/12/2021 17:26

My first grandchild Grin in a week's time!
Also (hopefully) will pass my QTS

SickAndTiredAgain · 29/12/2021 17:27

DD2 is due in May!

cptartapp · 29/12/2021 17:30

I'm 50 next week. Hoping Boris lets me celebrate as have a few things planned.
A holiday in February all, being well, and a holiday in August delayed since 2020, fingers crossed.
After having two exam year DC last year and all the stress and uncertainty they had to go through, I can't imagine anything will be as bad in 2022.

MrsT84 · 29/12/2021 17:30

My son is getting promoted to "Big Brother" in April. He is very excited and can't wait(he is 7)!
