So many threads getting pulled recently

Maybe 5 that I have posted on this past few days.
What's going on?

OP posts:
CodenameEgg · 28/12/2021 23:22

Holidays isn’t it. Kids and adults not at work so more time to flex those hairy hands.

youdontnome · 28/12/2021 23:23

I posted on one last week that seemed perfectly reasonable. Went to look at it the next day and it had gone. No idea why.

givethatbabyaname · 28/12/2021 23:29

I’ve noticed a lot of threads being pulled where people tell the OP they’re being a CF/ rude/ ridiculous/ outrageous/ whatever when they really have been those things.

Usually there are accusations of “piling on”, “what happened to Be Kind”, and “this thread is really bad for my mental health”, then a totally meaningless deleted message from MNHQ.

HQ can’t be bothered, they just press delete. Posters can’t take anything other than fawning. Such a waste of time.

dooooooo1234 · 28/12/2021 23:32

Yeah I noticed the one about the sil and covid has been pulled - what happened there?

chinabumps · 28/12/2021 23:35

I agree with @youdontnome and @givethatbabyaname
So many threads I've read and/or commented on which are perfectly fine but ends up getting deleted because the OP clearly doesn't like the responses. I agree that HQ just press delete as it's probably easier for them but it annoys me when people have actually posted helpful things or are having meaningful conversations on certain topics in the comments! So annoying

ToffeeNotCoffee · 28/12/2021 23:38

There was a reasonably amiable chat about Paddy McGuinness which got pulled.

I think it was all a tall tale.

Yes, I was halfway through reading that when it was pulled.

I agree, quite a lot of threads seem to be being deleted lately.

givethatbabyaname · 28/12/2021 23:51

Wait, the one with the farming family and SIL who tested negative then positive?

givethatbabyaname · 28/12/2021 23:53

And of course, every single Meghan Markle thread gets deleted 🙄. Absolutely impossible to say anything remotely unflattering about her.

Claudethecat · 28/12/2021 23:54

No, the one where the MIL was due to have surgery in the new year.

Claudethecat · 28/12/2021 23:55

This thread will probably be pulled too!

It's frustrating when I go onto 'Threads I'm On' to find a thread that has just been deleted and there is no message as to why.

Grandmotherschina · 28/12/2021 23:58

Yes OP, completely agree. I was around in 2007 when MN was like the Wild West, threads very very very rarely got pulled

MN seems to have a trigger finger these days. Also the “we have suspicions” deletion messages!

BurntO · 29/12/2021 00:00

No free speech here anymore. In addition OPs can request any thread removed.. that used to be rare

Guess Admin care less about active users these days

Bunnyfuller · 29/12/2021 00:04

There are a couple of mods who give their personal preferences away very obviously. And delete at will. MN don’t give a shit because adverts.

This will get pulled because it’s dissing the state.

There was one the other day where the majority thought the poster was BU, and several suggested she post somewhere more appropriate than AIBU. Surprise surprise, it was just for attention, the thread got pulled, and not moved as was the suggestion.

HeddaGarbled · 29/12/2021 00:08

If someone posts a thread about something that’s supposedly happened to them or the way they’ve been supposedly treated by someone, and you think ‘OMG, I can’t believe that!’, don’t believe it - it’s likely a troll.

If someone posts a thread with a highly controversial and offensive opinion, or which attracts highly controversial and offensive posts, don’t waste your outrage - it’s likely a goady fucker.

You’ll start to recognise the ones that are heading for deletion when you’ve been here for a while.

You’d hope, but there is always a staggering number of familiar names who pull out the Pom poms and cheer on the sidelines isn’t there?

MIL COVID one wasn’t the sharpest though, always best to change a username if trolling so your past posts can’t trip you up.

Yep I had one pulled - was expecting an email from @mnhq but got no explanation at all

eagerlywaitingfor · 29/12/2021 00:20

I've only seen one lately. Maybe I usually read more boring threads than you lot!

Meadowbreeze · 29/12/2021 00:29

There was a thread about this recently but it's getting worse week on week. There seems to be a common theme of threads being deleted with the explanation 'this thread is not I'm the spirit of mumsnet'.
Maybe they plan to add an FAQ explaining what the spirit of mumsnet is because I'm very confused. Mumsnet has been getting less and less active and this is just pushing people away more. Unless you post in aibu, it's difficult to get any traction on a question, whereas that wasn't the case before.

Jobseeker19 · 29/12/2021 00:48

I'm seeing a lot of were taking this down to look behind the scenes. The poof, no explanation.

Agree with this, there are far fewer threads that ‘take off’ and put that with so many threads being pulled it all seems a bit lame now.
