DD wears lingerie as a shirt

She's 18 and wanted a lingerie inspired camisole and thought she found one at a thrift store. We told her it was actual lingerie and not a shirt, but she wouldn't listen to us. But she posted a video on social media that was taken down as adult content because of her "shirt." The internet has spoken. That's not a shirt.

I wish I had had that kind of confidence when I was young .,.

I still have my fishnet top made out of fishnets. A mate in uni taught me how to do it.

I used to buy my going out bras from Ann summers cos they came in pvc and, on one memorable occasion, a sparkly silver one. I was well stacked in those days. I must have looked like a glitter encrusted dalek on the dance floor.

To be that young and confident again ( sigh)

This thread brings back memories.

I bought a gorgeous 1940s cream silk and lace slip in a flea market in Buenos Aires when I was about 22, and wore it to my friend’s wedding. A wedding. I did team it with a rose coloured jacket and shoes, but it was still cream satin and lace. And very much underwear. Looking back I’m a bit horrified, but it was the height of the ‘underwear as outerwear’ fashion moment, and the bride luckily wasn’t the sort to give a shit.

I did look bloody good in it

I know! At 18 I was wearing checked lumberjack shirts, a waistcoat and a duffle coat and reading Proust.

I was no Madonna Ciccarone.

I remember going out in a black wonder bra with a totally see through neon blue top over and fake fur hot pants. I also remember going round in an all in one body suit that was underwear, shoe string straps. There is a photo somewhere of me in that bodysuit.

I was reading Proust and medieval poetry in my purple wonderbra, it definitely wasn't an either or scenario.

Reading medieval poetry and Simone de Beauvoir by (beeswax) candlelight while listening to Gregorian chant/Palestrina/Gesualdo cassettes copied from CDs borrowed from the library. I was so pretentious, but I loved it, and look back on Kate teens with a great deal if fondness. I wish I had more confidence in my taste. I also had a fabulous autumnal highwayman outfit, with knee high boots,brown leggings, a billowy, puffy sleeved shirt and a green and brown patterned waistcoat. I hat a fabulously swishy winter coat, too.

And in later years, I used to go clubbing with a friend who wore black tape over her nipples under a sheer top.

I remember my GPs being scandalised c. 1978 when my aunt (who is not much older than me and would have been c. 19yo) went to a black tie do in a nightdress.

These youngsters have no new ideas 😆
