Yes
Are you sure that's an accurate reading?

Yes very! Ring 111 and put an extra layer on baby plus a hat and lots of cuddles whilst you are on the phone. Monitor closely and call 999 if they seem floppy/unresponsive. I’d be worried if that is an accurate reading.

Mangozesty · 27/12/2021 17:25

If that is accurate, which seems unlikely, you need to get to hospital now.

dementedpixie · 27/12/2021 17:27

What sort of thermometer?
That's counts as hypothermia which is why I'm asking if it's accurate

amiafreakofnature · 27/12/2021 17:29

You need to be using an underarm thermometer. What does she feel like under her neck/back of neck- cold/clammy? Warm?

mumtobee22 · 27/12/2021 17:30

I don't think it's accurate because we checked it again and it was 35.6 thank god!!

Always check a thermometer against yourself. Use common sense too, it the baby feels cool to touch I would be concerned, but if pink and feels normal warmth and the room is normal temperature, then the thermometer is likely wrong.

Snow1n · 27/12/2021 17:34

35.6 is still low although just out of the hypothermia range. Is baby ill otherwise, shivering etc?

santaclothes · 27/12/2021 17:37

Have you checked your temp?

Holothane · 27/12/2021 17:39

Goodness if that’s correct hospital that’s very low hugs.

morechocolateneededtoday · 27/12/2021 17:39

Sounds like the thermometer is not reliable. Unlikely would be alive with temp of 34.6 and 35.6 is also extremely low

ofwarren · 27/12/2021 17:41

What's your temperature?

GraceJonesBiggestFan · 27/12/2021 17:41

35.6 is too low. You need to call 111.

MrMistoffee · 27/12/2021 17:42

My daughters normal temp is 35.9 and has been since she was a baby (ten years now). But be aware that a drop in temp can indicate a severe infection in a baby as much as a high temp can.

NotVictorianHonestly · 27/12/2021 17:44

A low temperature can be a symptom of sepsis. If baby is unwell in themselves please seek urgent medical advice. I had no idea about this until it happened to us.

mumtobee22 · 27/12/2021 17:49

He's very grumpy. He's not finishing his feeds, he's sleeping a lot. Is 35.6 low?? We checked again there now and it was 36.3. He's going hot and cold..

You've been told enough times, call 111.

Recycledblonde · 27/12/2021 17:55

Just go up to A&E. .Knowing how busy 111 are you'll wait ages for a call back. If he's sleepy with reduced feeding then they'll want him seen anyway.

I think your thermometer is crap.

pannikin · 27/12/2021 17:56

35.6 is still low, if he's not himself, is sleeping lots and has had two readings of such low temps you need to get medical attention ASAP.

nadgersbadgers · 27/12/2021 17:57

What does the thermometer read on you? On others on the house? Is the child unwell in any way?

santaclothes · 27/12/2021 17:57

I would never tell someone not to go to A&E, however 3 different readings like this without a test against anyone else wouldn't have me running to A&E.

OP can you check yourself and the baby a few times? Call 111 meantime

mumtobee22 · 27/12/2021 17:58

We rang the out of hours doctor and he needs to be checked out just to be on the safe side.Daffodil
