Dinner tonight

What are people having?

We have finished off our leftovers almost completely (except for a stray parsnip or two) and I am desperate for some leafy greens and something other than gammon! (We did not have turkey or chicken this year).

So I am making a creamy tomato and chicken casserole with parsnip and potato mash, broccoli and cavalo nero. I am really looking forward to it.

3 days of a lovely Christmas period, but I am happy to get back to normal now!

Curry (not turkey btw)
we menu plan for ease and this is what is on for tonight.

Pegasussnail · 27/12/2021 09:59

I made the last of our turkey into a fajita mix (peppers, onions) going to have with salad and a packet of Mexican rice. Also trifle that hasn't been opened.

More buffet style food! DH made a great veg soup from the leftovers yesterday so that's for lunch.
I love eating like this - no planning, cooking etc. Everyone can just help themselves. Smoked salmon, turkey, ham, pickles, cheese etc. Yum!

Roasted vegetables (peppers, tomatoes, garlic, red onion, aubergine) stirred through cous cous, green salad and some fried halloumi and falafels.

MargosKaftan · 27/12/2021 10:33

We have more visitors today ! Doing a buffet lunch (again) and spag bol bubbling away now for dinner - if it looks like guests are staying ill turn it into a lasagne to look like I've made effort.

RagzReturnedUnwrapped · 27/12/2021 10:37

Either shepherd's pie made with leftover roast lamb and topped with bubble and squeak, or a turkey, leek and gammon pie made with leftover meat, leftover cheesy leeks and leftover turkey gravy as the sauce.
Also have planned fajitas as PP, using leftover turkey, but not sure how well that will work.
Probably have macaroni cheese with chopped up gammon in at some point.
Don't fancy curry for some reason, I do usually make one.

mbosnz · 27/12/2021 10:53

Spaghetti and meatballs - DD the elder's request. I'll whack some spinach in the sauce, much to their disgust. . .

KurtWildesChristmasNamechange · 27/12/2021 11:09

Older DC and their partners have gone back to their homes now, so it's just me and the younger ones for food. I'll hoover up what's left of the leftovers (not much after having had a house full for 3 days!) and they can have whatever they fancy. Which will likely be something in the air fryer like Turkey dinosaurs. Lots of tidying to do, and an easy day of food.

IcedAbstinente · 27/12/2021 11:16

Oh God I have loads of tidying too. :( I am feeling grumpy about it. I like the idea of putting spinach in a pasta sauce.

We are still buffet-ing (is that a word?)
It will be every man for himself and we will just help ourselves as and when we get hungry during the afternoon/evening.

MonicaGellerBing · 27/12/2021 12:47

Pork steaks and chunky chips

HelloCanYouHearMe · 27/12/2021 12:49

Turkey ham and leek pie with mash tonight, from then on in it's back on with the healthy eating!

SnowdropSally · 27/12/2021 12:51

We’re meeting with some friends and going for an Italian. I’m looking quite forward to —lots of Italian wine— see our friends.

Marmite27 · 27/12/2021 12:54

Usernamenotavailabletryanother · 27/12/2021 12:55

Yum 😋
Doublechins · 27/12/2021 13:50

I'm making some of the cheeses into cheese pasties for lunch which we'll have will proper chips and beans.

Dinner tonight will be turkey curry if DH ever strips the turkey. I know I could do it but I've done everything else for the past 2 days so I don't feel this is a big ask 🙄

GTAlogic · 27/12/2021 13:52

Xmas leftovers. Basically another roast dinner.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 27/12/2021 15:00

Romany dinner, basically anything left roamin around 😂
Actually its going to be home made tomato soup with crusty bread and DH avocado speciality which is chopped avocado, cottage cheese and salmon mixed into a dish topped in cheese and grilled. Tomorrow gammon egg and chips yum.

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 27/12/2021 15:10

Romany dinner, I love that!

TheChosenTwo · 27/12/2021 15:38

No idea, probably a carbonara as we have a lot of cheese and pancetta in the fridge and a pot of garlic butter we made and didn’t use for some reason, along with some part bake bread we bought and didn’t eat.
I am going to make an enormous salad to go with it, a nice sharp lemon dressing, lots of cucumber and avocado. Well, dh will probably make it to be honest, I’ve been a bit noodle the last couple of days but we’ve had a houseful two days on the trot and I haven’t slept much so I’m having a resting day (as is he, he overdid the booze on Christmas Day and still suffering today!!) - need something quick, easy, not too messy, no shopping and everything can go in the dishwasher afterwards!

BelleNoir · 27/12/2021 15:39

Gammon, egg and home made chips

Shedmistress · 27/12/2021 15:41

We've had no guests, I only cooked a basic roast so no leftovers and we've both been ill so I'm doing a really basic onion, pepper and courgette pasta.

We're an hour ahead of the UK and it's nearly half time on the football so serving it in 10 mins.

I only had weetabix yesterday so I'm starving today.
