How long have you known your oldest online friends

I've been talking to one for 21 years now but we've never met. I talk to them almost every day.

17 years. I love them all. A couple have fallen into the trans rights rabbit hole and no longer speak to me which is sad, but on the whole, we are strong group.

They are my real friends.

I met my online friend aged 13. I'm 36 now. 23 years and we still talk most days. Never met in real life but he's been a tower of strength to me via phone calls and face time over the years.

I met DH online and we have been together 21 yrs now. I have an ex I met through messaging on the college system - that was 1987!!! We are still in touch. I also have crafting friends I met circa 1996 and are still in touch

I don't have any online friends I didn't know it was a thing 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ I don't know anyone who has.

I've got plenty friends in real life.

24 years. Met in an online game Room. Never met at they live in America but we WhatsApp pretty regularly and have spoken on the phone. Sent things via post etc.

I think about 12 years? We met in person after about a year and I have been close friends ever since with one or two and friends generally on a more casual group meet up basis with about ten of them.

20 odd years, have met several times in our younger years. Both married now and not seen each other in years, but absolutely adore each other. My mum who has never met him is his Facebook pal and honestly you would think she knows him like family.

About 15 years. Found out by chance she lived near me so we met up and although I now live abroad we still talk.

Love her to bits.

DH teased me it was a fat bloke grooming me for sex for weeks before we met up. Only met once but she's a rock for me.

About 16 years I think, and there's a few of them. Started on a ski and snowboard forum, have met many of them in real life first at related events and then privately. Now years after the forum ceased to exist the core few of us have a private Facebook group to stay in touch.

I have a bunch of online friends who I've known for 25+ years. Some of us have been to eachothers weddings. Some of us buy gifts for eachothers children. Good people.

A whole group of us 'met' via a film-fan email list in 1995, and first of all maintained an email friendship, but then moved to Facebook. I've met several of them, but sadly a couple of them have died too.

15 years, met when I was 17 online on a gaming forum. We've met in person but message everyday and phone/video chat occasionally too, send gifts. Another two friends I've known 10 years and met online through an interest when we were early 20s, we talk most days and we've been to each others weddings.

23 years. We all posted on a message board about Friends (the TV show), we’re all over the world and a few years ago I happened to be in LA when one of the Australians in our group was there so we finally met.

I met one online friend on Habbo Hotel in 2003, I was 13.

More recently I’ve made a few online friends through a closed facebook group, I think I joined in 2015. We talk most days, we know each other inside and out, they even clubbed together and absolutely spoiled me when my 30th birthday fell not long after the first lockdown started and all of my plans had been cancelled. We had a weekend in London booked earlier this year but it didn’t go ahead, hopefully we’ll finally meet next year.
