Decided to start an adult games night (this may be a flash in the pan idea Grin) and need some ideas of awesome games that you can have a chat and a drink over, don’t take hours and hours (monopoly I’m looking at you!) and are fun!

Cluedo
Tension
Scotland Yard

Card games:
The Chameleon
Shot in the Dark
Just One
Codenames
Skyjo

Do you mean pen and paper type games you can do today or stuff you can buy for the future? (Can suggest some of the former if you like but the below are games you can buy)

Cards against humanity is fun if you enjoy silly/rude/offensive humour :o (there’s a family version too)

We love dobble for all ages as it gets very silly and loud - there are various branded versions too like Harry Potter

Sushi Go is good and very cute

Ticket to ride if you like longer games (nowhere near as long as monopoly and much more interesting!)

Bounce Off is another fun silly one

SingToTheSleigh · 25/12/2021 09:13

Two that I’ve had for a while and hope to finally play this Christmas - Just One (pleased to see you’ve mentioned it five :o) and A fake artist goes to New York

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 25/12/2021 09:19

Stuff I can buy for the future Smile

It’s just me and the dog today and she beat me at noughts and crosses last week so I don’t fancy my chances again!

Awesome thank you, didn’t think of dibble as a grown up game but that could be good!

Awkward Guests
Azul
Forbidden Desert if you want a cooperative game

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 25/12/2021 10:00

Articulate

Cards Against Humanity (bit crude so you have to know if your guests would find it funny)

SingToTheSleigh · 25/12/2021 10:30

:o at the dog playing noughts and crosses! Would probably beat me too tbf.

At least the games that don’t have actual writing on like cards etc, you can usually get PDFs of instructions online so a danish version shouldn’t be a problem really.

Pentago and patchwork are good but only two players

If anyone is a science/English fan Frenetic is a good twist on scrabble

KeflavikAirport · 25/12/2021 10:34

Twister

SpookyScarySkeletons · 25/12/2021 10:41

Santa brought us the Now That's What I Call music board game. We will crack it out after dinner. It looks really good so far!

JuneOsborne · 25/12/2021 10:45

Secret Hitler is good!

My dsis loves articulate.

Dixit also good.

tiredmummy1991 · 25/12/2021 10:47

Taskmaster is one of our favourites.

Dilbertian · 25/12/2021 10:54

The Taskmaster game is genius! But unless your friends have seen and enjoyed the programme - or are already irreverent, uninhibited nutters with a bonkers sense of humour - they may not get into it.

Forbidden Island is an excellent co-operative game. Labyrinth is another of our favourites. No language involved (other than players swearing Grin) do you could easily get a local version and download instructions in English.

Cardboardeaux · 25/12/2021 11:23

Exploding Kittens

TenPenceMix · 25/12/2021 11:58

Obama Llama is really good

Throughabushbackwards · 25/12/2021 12:01

Balderdash is our go-to favourite.

ajandjjmum · 25/12/2021 12:03

Articulate and Five Second Rule are favourites with us.

Frustration is also a Christmas tradition here!

DearFrutti · 25/12/2021 12:37

Avalon

NinaProudman2022 · 25/12/2021 12:54

Scrabble
Articulate
Pictionary
Charades
Cards
Or our personal favourite ‘homemade guess who’ if you have post it notes. Write the name
of someone on a post it i.e. Hitler, Lady Gaga, Mother Theresa, Elvis, SpongeBob Square Pants, Peppa Pig, Maradonna, Boris Johnston, me etc (depending on audience). Stick it on someones head and they ask am I still alive, am I on Tv, am I a footballer etc etc etc.
Pandemic

pappajonessecretchild · 25/12/2021 14:36

we are big board game players, for adults/teens our fav is 221 Baker Street, much better than cluedo but able to natter over it whilst playing. Secret Hitler is a bit complicated when you first play it but very good when you get going.

MistyElla · 25/12/2021 14:43

Settlers of Catan and Ticket to Ride are our favourites.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 25/12/2021 14:55

Azul
Splendor
Ezploding kittens (fætter br has this)
Tokaido
I like those 4 because they dont take so long. There is something about azul that I find very relaxing. The illustrations on tokaido are lovely.

Are the other adults Danish? My Danes love
Partners
Danmark - the one where you travel round and hope you dont get Bornholm.
Settlers
Labrynth
Ticket to ride

I find hyggeonkel.dk a good place to buy games.

IHopeYouStepOnALegPiece · 25/12/2021 23:06

Amazing, thank you all. This is super useful!

StrictlyAFemaleFemale thank you for that site! Some are Danes some not so love the list that your Danes like!

We played Richard Osman’s House of Games and Taskmaster today and they were both great.
