Anyone else awake super early?

I was going to get up early today (6.30ish) to crack on with a bit of Christmas prep, mainly to do with food, bit of cleaning etc. Also we’re going for dinner later so wanted to start the day at a normal time so the baby can get her naps in before we go out.

DD (7) helpfully came in to our room at 4am to let us know her duvet had fallen off but she’d picked it up again so it was fine Confused and I’ve been WIDE BLOODY AWAKE ever since. I’m now sat in the chair in the babies room as she’s just had a feed. There’s really no point going back to bed so there?!

Yep I'm awake, also have been since 4am.... not dc here as they are at their dads. Sooo tired but haven't been able to go back to sleep. Only have a few things to do but not sure I have the energy now!

FlamingGoat · 24/12/2021 06:04

Yes. Been awake since 5am.

Lying on the sofa with my headed throw. I'm still waiting for my PCR results to come through from Wednesday! I need to know if I can go to work today.

Mollymalone123 · 24/12/2021 06:05

The dog got me up at 5am- I have blood tests at 8.20am and I’m tired but can’t sleep-DH is snoring away-that man literally slept through a hurricane before 😂

@dizzygirl1 arghh it’s annoying isn’t it. Haven’t had this kind of inability to sleep since I was pregnant 😭

I’m up, going swimming in 1/2 hour. Then on to the gym, then last minute shopping. Come home and start on baking. I get up at 5 every morning.

FreeButtonBee · 24/12/2021 06:06

Also awake since 5am. Had a silly mistake in work yesterday- no damage done but annoying nonetheless and it’s revolving in my mind over and over. Once I woke at 5 there was no way I was getting back to sleep.

Am just sitting by the Christmas lights in my dressing gown waiting for the world to start.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 24/12/2021 06:07

Fingers crossed for you @Mollymalone123 and yes @FlamingGoat my DH is the same usually although to be fair he did take the brunt of ‘duvet news’ from DD at 4am 😂

So frustrating! I could have done with a decent sleep. It's not like there will be too much tonight!!!

Can you get anything done for the day? So that you can nap or rest later? When DH can have the DC ?

ImmutableSexQueen · 24/12/2021 06:08

Yep. 00:18.
It's going to be a hellish day, and I've got a three hour drive this afternoon. Hopefully, a nap before that.

bloodywhitecat · 24/12/2021 06:09

Yes, DH has an appointment with the oncologist today then the hospice are doing their first visit.

Hemlock2013 · 24/12/2021 06:10

Me! Just woke at 4:20 and am wide awake. This is fairly normal for me though. I’m just a lark and it’s becoming more pronounced as I get older. I’m not a productive park though. I’m still tired and just sit around reading and drinking coffee until the rest of the house wakes up.

GrandmasCat · 24/12/2021 06:12

What I don’t get is why you are not going through those Christmas preparations now, when you are awake and have no distractions as the kids/husband are asleep and therefore out of the way.

Get yourself out of bed to do whatever you can manage then get back to bed for a nap when you feel like it later.

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 24/12/2021 06:13

Yes! Been awake since 5.30. No idea why. Got work this morning and DD is singing at a Cathedral crib service this afternoon. I'll sleep on Boxing Day! Good luck out there!!!!

HettySunshine · 24/12/2021 06:15

Yup, I always wake ridiculously early. If I sleep past 5am I count it as a win. I am still in bed though.

Ds(5) came in to give me my advent chocolate a wee while ago and is now watching tv quietly downstairs. Dd x2 and dh will sleep for another hour or two.

I quite like the little bit of time that's just mine in the morning. It's the only time my house is quiet!

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 24/12/2021 06:15

I know, you’re all right. I’m going to make a cup of tea now and do a few jobs. Not much to do. I want to hoover but rest of the family probably wouldn’t appreciate that!

Good luck to anyone with a stressful day today especially @bloodywhitecat

Currently awake as DH has just gone to work, he's in food distribution so its a busy day! Fortunately I can fall back asleep so will do soon, its my first lie in of the holidays today so will get up about 9

Preg19 · 24/12/2021 06:18

Been awake on and off all night with chills and fever as I had the booster yesterday! Now I want to be awake before my 4 year so I can see him find what the elf left him 😂 I’m going to feel like crap but dh is off so hopefully I’ll have a nap later 😊

Allsorts1 · 24/12/2021 06:22

Yes I woke up at 5am - DP is away to his family for Xmas so the dog was up all night barking at every sound thinking it was him coming home. I hope she chills out tonight! And I had two glasses of red last night watching Xmas movies, red wine makes me sleep terribly!

rainbowstardrops · 24/12/2021 06:24

I always wake up ridiculously early and also count getting to 5am as a win!
DS went out Wednesday night for drinks with friends and told me he'd be home just after 10pm. Cue me waking up at 3.15am and him not home 🙄 Wide awake from then on.
Woke up again at 3.15am this morning, so I'm wrapping the presents that I didn't wrap yesterday!
Busy day ahead running on empty 😴

maddiemookins16mum · 24/12/2021 06:31

Yep, awake since 5am.
So much to do and people arriving at 3pm for 3 days - can’t wait to see them though, they are simply wonderful.
DH is on an early/late today (supported living home for young adults) so he’s leaving at 7am and won’t be back until about 11pm tonight.

Have to go shopping, the vets, sort stuff out here too.
I’m going to be exhausted come bedtime and know tonight will be a late one as DH will want to stay up and catch up with friends tonight.

Ohmych · 24/12/2021 06:35

I had an alarm set for 6 because I start work at 8 today. My faulty body clock woke me up at 5! I'm eating marmite on toast with a coffee. I do love these peaceful mornings when no one else is up.

RedRobin100 · 24/12/2021 06:36

Yes pregnant and also brat toddler seems to think 5:10 is an acceptable time to wake (and stay awake) these days

SuspiciousMind33 · 24/12/2021 06:37

I have covid and thought yesterday I was on the mend, but I've woken with a really sore throat I'm struggling to clear today

autieok · 24/12/2021 06:38

Always ☺️
