Programming the TV to record on VHS..

Ipods..

Renting a dvd from the shop..

Decorating a room and having one colour at the bottom with a paler version at the top separated with a pretty boarder..

What are yours?

We were served loose leaf tea in a national trust caff the other day. Im astonished anyone can be arsed with that.....performance!

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 18:01

I use loose leaf tea at home. It is not a big deal at all. Loose leaf tea is better quality for the same price in tea bags.

@ginslinger

I can't imagine every become weary of contactless payments - I love it especially now that I have the cards in my phone wallet and just have to use a fingerprint to pay. It's brilliant.
I changed my card to a non wireless one a few years ago. Payments all used to come out 3-4 days after I'd used it and it would mess all my bills up. My DH has had it years abs days it now comes out straight away?

I feel daft putting in my pin these days so I might order a new card.

How though? Surely it's exactly the same product in a different container.
pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:08

I stand corrected. Dm has just texted me back saying dgm banned tea bags from the house when she was alive because they are common. As you were.....😂

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 18:16

@pastypirate there isn't much loose leaf tea available in supermarkets. Usually just an own-brand version and maybe a more expensive one. They don't tend to match the equivalent ones in tea bags. Obviously, the same tea will be being used to put in tea bags. But at the same price point, the teabags are worse quality than loose tea.

In reality I think loose leaf tea is an old persons thing.

I used to work there. With that ridiculous rule that you had to pay for the catalogue if you didn't buy anything!

I'm thinking of getting the physical book for dd1 to peruse since every item of clothing I buy her is wrong!!

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:26

Meanwhile we phone and collect for takeaways quite often and I live in Plymouth - not the sticks!

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:27

50ps for the meter was totally normal when I was growing up in the 80's. I assume that's no longer a thing?

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:28

Also buying sweets by weight, I found a stall in the pannier market the other day that sold sweets by weight I was really excited and bought loads then some nice glass jars in home bargains to put them in. I know the dds will love it!

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:29

Straight cigarettes - I know they still exist but you don't see them much especially with young people.

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:30

@Rosewaterblossom

The last time I called Virgin Media for my broadband deal I recall kicking off a bit because "deals" were cheaper if you had a landline too. I said who has a household landline nowadays and why should I have one when I won't use it! Think I got a good deal anyway but definitely wouldn't ever get a landline. What's the point when I have a mobile with all I need?
I won't have a connected landline because people will call it and then complain you don't answer (fil!!!!!!)
Sorka · 24/12/2021 18:30

Taking photos on cameras that used a film you had to develop. I worked in a high street photo lab for a while and it’s odd to think that I’ve worked in a field that pretty much no longer exists.

Also getting your photos back and getting a bunch of thumb shots, blurry photos and over or under exposed images with a sticker saying what’s gone wrong.

No! Loose leaf herbal tea is amazing. You can blend different leaves and make your own flavours.

I'm a convert.

pastypirate · 24/12/2021 18:31

I'll add being asked for a landline number on forms. Ridiculous now.

Going to McDonalds as a treat.

Younger me would have been mind blown at this. Grin

RoyalFamilyFan · 24/12/2021 18:42

I can remember reading about drive-thrus in America. We were boggled by the laziness of Americans that they didn't even get out of their car to buy food. Now I love a drive-thru.

ProfessionalWeirdo · 24/12/2021 18:46

my car doesn't have USB (it's a 2009 model)

Mine is a 2003 model and has a cassette player!

AngryWithH · 24/12/2021 18:52

in fact they use their phones for every purpose except for what they were originally designed for, ie making phone calls!
Interesting! Hadn’t thought about this, but I only very rarely actually phone someone on my phone!!!

I was once having coffee with my cousin and my phone rang.

"I thought you'd have a fancy ring-tone," she said.

"Call me old-fashioned and boring," I replied, "but I like my phone to sound like... a phone..."
