How Christmassy are you feeling out of 10?

I'm struggling to get to a one. Never felt as unChrsitmassy as this year

Nothing this year just not into it.

1. It's going to be a very low key Christmas for us.

Can I be minus? Dad died yesterday.

I’m so sorry @iklboodolphrednosedpaindear. My dad died at Christmas 28 years ago. Yesterday DM was diagnosed with a lymphoma, today we met the cancer care team, chemo starts next week.

I know it’ll be little comfort, but I can relate a little bit to how you’re feeling and can not find the emotional reserves for Christmas cheer at all.

1. Really trying for the kids but I just don't feel any excitement this year, I don't know why. Wish it was all over and all back to normal tbh

Not very. Working all Xmas and new year (care home). Youngest DS has just tested positive. Now his abusive wanker of a father has started kicking off telling anybody who'll listen I'm lying/I've done it on purpose just to ruin Christmas for him. Brilliant.

Jeff Foster , author, has just written a lovely piece on facebook about giving yourself permission to not feel christmassy. Well worth a read.

Seven. It’s been a bit of struggle this year though. We just opened a small present each to get the mood going.

I get that completely. It's a duty I've performed five times - three dogs and two cats. One just after Christmas in 1992. I suppose it's the last act of kindness you show an animal. That's how I dealt with it all those times.

And I normally love Christmas. I felt more Christmassy last year in spite of the restrictions.

1. Kids are excited but I'm just feeling flat and tired.

2.. me and dp had an argument yesterday that's ongoing.. and house isnt as tidy as id like.. alot of my family have covid, mums not well at all...i went to asda earlier for some last bits and it was packed, i felt stressed and was wondering if everyone else in there was in the same boat or if they were genuinely excited about xmas and had some lovely plans...
