But it took me a while into the day to even remember tomorrow is Xmas eve! As in I knew but the significance didn't connect iyswim?

I know when Xmas day comes and we are heading to my parents I'll get to about an 8. I love it but I try and not get to a 10 because then if things aren't perfect it doesn't feel a big deal!

ExpectoPresentsOnCrimbo25 · 23/12/2021 21:04

Sorry to everyone who isn't feeling in the festive mood due to illness or general stressful times. If anyone needs an ear feel free to PM me.
I'm about a 7/8 at the moment. Had a deep clean today and everything is sorted really. I don't have kids but presents got delivered to the nieces and nephews today.
Just watching twister at the mo- not a very christmassy film I know Grin

AutumnAnn · 23/12/2021 21:20

10, it's my daughters 1st Christmas and I've found her an adorable festive sleepsuit for Christmas day, my toddler is just old enough to get excited about it and both me and my partner are off work from tomorrow, I'm not back in until the 3rd, we've got everything prepared, our trees are beautiful and I got all new decorations for the bedroom one so that's brought me a lot of joy, I've found some wonderful gifts for people so I'm excited for them to open them, my physical and mental health is in a good place for a change and I finally feel like my life is organised and calm.

Davros · 23/12/2021 21:22

8 - there's two days to go

DirtyDancing · 23/12/2021 21:23

I feel like I have tried really hard to 'save' this Christmas. Lived like a nun since the kids finished school & not been anywhere so we could be with CEV DMIL, so she isn't on her own yet again.

We've got her here & it's gone to plan so far. But all I want to do is curl up in a ball and sleep.

I've gone through the motions making my Xmas pudding, presents and food.. only to be about a 2 on the Christmas scale.

Cissyandflora · 23/12/2021 21:29

I’ve moved house and I’ve got covid. I’m a single mum. I’ll still pull it off though. I’m feeling a bit Christmassy because I’ve got great gifts ready. No food yet because I’m in isolation. Hoping I’ll be able to go out and get Christmas food tomorrow. Good luck to others struggling at this time.

TheRealHousewife · 23/12/2021 21:31

@Thurlow

Barely! We moved house ten days ago, I've just managed to get the kids stockings sorted (hello B&M!) but we have no tree, a couple of sad decorations, and a LOT of boxes...

I know it's a good reason not to feel too Christmassy but I am occasionally feeling a bit shit about it.

I’m envious … I’m feeling unchristmassy partly due to not yet being moved (or even found an house).

All I want for Christmas is to be moving. Hopefully next year.

Enjoy your new home 🎄

  1. I've been wearing my Bah! Humbug hat all day in work. I've got presents to wrap and feeling meh about doing it. I've just delivered the neighbour's cards but haven't put the ones I have received up.
I've got no tree and have put up one decoration and that is only because I bought it on a whim as it's cat shaped. Oh and I bought an apple and cinnamon candle from Home Bargains which I sure caused my scratchy throat resulting in a PCR test which thankfully was negative.
Whattheduck · 23/12/2021 21:37

About a 2 and that’s being generous
Dh has gone to do the food shop I’m sitting on the sofa eating quality street when I should be wrapping the last few presents
Dd has a water infection and is on antibiotics
I’m working tomorrow Dh is working Christmas Day and Boxing Day
Just not feeling it this year at all

FMSucks · 23/12/2021 21:38
  1. Had to put my DDog to sleep suddenly last week. I am broken.
Thurlow · 23/12/2021 21:38

TheRealHousewife, I really hope it happens for you next year 🤞 It's taken is since April to do this, it just somehow sucks some of the joy out of it all, but I do need to focus on how lucky we are to have finally managed it.

christmascovid7356 · 23/12/2021 21:45

Isolating with covid.

Thoroughly miserable.

Wrapped presents earlier and just felt sad.

Going to try my best to put on the show tomorrow for DS

ChevreChase · 23/12/2021 21:45

3 or 4

Christmas day isn't going to be that different to normal here, as the families are far apart, so it's nothing to do with not having a big, extended family Christmas as we never do. But I usually love Christmas, and I'm just not feeling it this year.

Dumbledoresgirl · 23/12/2021 21:49

2 maybe. Found out today a minor op I had on Monday was not successful so I have to have another in January. (3rd in total.) I am hopeful I will feel more Christmassy this time tomorrow when I see my extended family for the first time in 2 years.

Titsywoo · 23/12/2021 21:56

Zero.

Got covid so had to cancel everything and loss my sense of taste so eating all the food isn't going to make me feel better.

WildRosie · 23/12/2021 22:10

I shall give myself a very generous 7. For the first time in 27 years - over half my life - I'm not nearly as contemptuous or dispirited about Christmas as I have been. I've accepted and decided that I shall from now on take the few parts of the season that I enjoy and disregard the rest. Or look the other way, if you will. Life is way too short to be getting wound up over crap Christmas records, television repeats and supermarket queues. They, and many other Christmas negatives, have been with us for decades and probably always will be. I'm fortunate in that living alone largely absolves me from the traditional family obligations that distress these forums year in, year out. So, I can perhaps more easily take the smooth and reject the rough and, in that respect, I am fortunate. I realise that many individuals and families won't have it quite as easy as I, so who could blame them for not feeling very Christmassy ? It's what you make it or how you can best manage it.

Here endeth the lesson. Have a peaceful New Year all Smile.

Hoolihan · 23/12/2021 22:15

About a 3. Feel a bit despondent really, no particular reason, I just don't seem to have any Christmas spirit in me this year. I'm trying my best for my 9yo but I actually can't wait for it to be over.

cushioncovers · 24/12/2021 10:22

FMsucks im so sorry for your loss Thanks
