I love our cordless vacuum, I was never that bothered about getting one, but it makes it so much easier. Especially when you have a crumb generating child!

@GoodnightGrandma

I wouldn’t be without my hot water tank and immersion heater, in my airing cupboard. When our electric went off one year, between Xmas and new year, we were having hot showers while the neighbours had cold showers in cold houses. And it’s great for drying washing.
How did your immersion heater keep going if the power was off?

This thread is great! It's making me look at everything in my house to see if I love it. Today I love: my toaster, which is a massive ancient 6 slice commercial beast that I bought on ebay 15 years ago because I was sick of toasters not lasting; the table and chairs I inherited from my grandma; and milk in milk bottles from the milkman instead of plastic from the supermarket.

Immersion blender. We eat so much soup

Splodgerbodgerbadger · 24/12/2021 10:18

@OooPourUsACupLove I love our toaster too. My Parents got us it for a wedding present over 21 years ago and it’s still going strong it’s a Dualit one.

Ooh yes to the immersion heater. Years ago we lived in Scotland and had gone home for a couple of weeks over Christmas. When got back the heating had broken it was so cold in the house that the oil in the kitchen had started to solidify! We had an immersion heater so we could have a hot bath to stay warm.

As a kid I remember my Mum saying ‘your Dads home quick turn the immersion heater off’. Grin

I just got a cordless vacuum (I say I got it because it’s a Dyson and I won’t let ham-fisted DH touch it Blush) in the black friday sales and I love it.

My heated throw from Aldi last winter. £35 and worth every penny - it’s so warm and cheap to run.

The dishwasher. Neither of us had ever used a dishwasher before we moved into this house in 2019 and it’s a revelation. I still can’t get over having clean dishes but dry hands Grin

Our radio alarm. I've had it since the 1980s, have used it virtually every day since then.

Garden rather than house but my grandmother's secateurs, the knife sharpener says he has never seen such good quality, they don't make them like that now.

Tinylittlecabbages · 24/12/2021 11:11

I love my tumble dryer an irrational amount. After the DC broke the last one I won't even let them touch it. It gives me palpitations. I spend a lot of time on it maintenance as well.

Ditto the dishwasher tbh Blush

GameofPhones · 24/12/2021 11:14

Yes the tumble dryer. If you put clothes in at just the right degree of dampness, they don't need ironing (not that I would anyway).

Loving reading this thread ( currently sitting in car in car wash -captive audience)

NMC2022 · 24/12/2021 11:22

@GameofPhones I'm guessing the hot water tank stayed hot so still had hot water

My kitchen aid

fussychica · 24/12/2021 15:24

Dishwasher - tidy kitchen, sparkling crockery
Window vac - goodbye condensation in minutes
Lavazza milk frother - makes a coffee extra special
My brilliant ancient AEG washing machine. I want it to last forever as I hate the thought of having to put up with a washing cycle that takes several hours.

I never use my tumble dryer but love my Lakeland heated airer.
