Would you go to the theatre in London tomorrow

With DH - triple jabbed, recently had Covid. Me - triple jabbed. DS - no jabs. In the cheap seats so will probably be unable to distance. I really want to go as it'll be a great show and DS has been really excited but very nervy about the obvious.

What's the fear? Isolating over Christmas or catching? If the latter, I'd say go go go.

ReeseWitherfork · 21/12/2021 13:08

Oh wait, how old is DS?

valerianroot · 21/12/2021 13:09

Meant to be travelling on 28th to visit family and managed to avoid so far! Feels like we might be tempting fate.

DS is 12

What is it? Maybe we can tell you if it’s worth the trip 😂

Montecristocount · 21/12/2021 13:12

I would go knowing there’s a strong chance I’d catch covid. Depends on your plans over the next 10 days really. Worth missing seeing people over Christmas or not 🤔

Haus1234 · 21/12/2021 13:12

Is it definitely still on? There have been loads of cancellations.

mugglenutmeg · 21/12/2021 13:12

High probability DS will catch it, he'll probably be fine though, but will it ruin your Christmas? Are you planning on seeing relatives?
Catching it isn't the worst thing - he'll develop some natural immunity but over Christmas time isn't a good time to be isolating.

Montecristocount · 21/12/2021 13:13

My comment looks like I’m being sarcastic. I genuinely would go if it was a show I’d had booked for ages. But testing positive after a real possibility.

Lokdok · 21/12/2021 13:14

1 in 4 have covid in London at the moment and there's a good chance it will be cancelled as so many actors will be in isolation. Shows aren't great at the moment because a lot of the actors and crew are isolating. No chance I'd risk it.

mugglenutmeg · 21/12/2021 13:14

A recent show we weee going to was cancelled - I was relieved I didn't have to make that decision and I've had a full refund.

Are you sure your show is still on?

Jabbawasarollingstone · 21/12/2021 13:14

Please come. We'd love your custom.

valerianroot · 21/12/2021 13:15

We've all had Covid before and DS was asymptomatic and bouncing off the walls so it's not the health aspect, it's more I'm meant to be going to visit my family on 28th and need to be Covid free.

It's def still on, one of the few that hasn't been cancelled it seems.

I'm probably answering my own question here!

I work in a concert hall (not London, but a big city), and was on duty for a nearly sold out concert last night. I was surprised how few No Shows we had, it was really busy. However, a few people did leave part way through due to feeling uncomfortable around others coughing etc.

I would weigh up how much all 3 of you will enjoy the outing against how stressful it feels.

ReeseWitherfork · 21/12/2021 13:21

I'd definitely be worried about the chance of family plans being cancelled. Luckily at the very least if you did catch it tomorrow then you'd definitely know by the 28th so no chance of accidentally giving it to someone.

It really depends how desperate you are not to miss out on family. Such a shame though, these types of things make nice memories.

LaurieFairyCake · 21/12/2021 13:24

God yeah, trying to book something now !

Halloaten · 21/12/2021 13:26

I'd go. I wouldnt test for covid afterwards though

Empressofthemundane · 21/12/2021 13:27

We are going to the ballet tomorrow. DH and i are triple jabbed, DD1 is double jabbed, DD2 is single jabbed.

limitedperiodonly · 21/12/2021 13:27

Yes. But my situation is different to yours.

I went on Thursday to the London Palladium to see Pantoland with Julian Clary and Donny Osmond. That was just as the news of increased Omicron infections was breaking but if I had tickets for tonight and it was on I'd still go.

I saw The Rat Pack At Christmas on Saturday (another thing I'd booked a while ago) and by that time there were lots of gaps in the audience from no-shows.

I understand people's reluctance especially as many are saving themselves for family gatherings. But we are triple-jabbed, not especially vulnerable (I am a bit but as DH comes into contact with lots of people for work there's a limit to how much I can protect myself), not mixing with anyone we know to be vulnerable and will be spending Christmas alone together. We're not ill yet but who knows? We have food and plenty of films to watch.

I'd be concerned about DS not being vaccinated but you know his general state of health so it's up to you.

The Rat Pack was good and Pantoland was excellent - oh yes it was. I hope you have a Merry Christmas whatever you decide.

Imdreamingofapeacefulxmas · 21/12/2021 13:29

Op definitely go.
I had this dilemma last week and we decided to go.
Similar situation in that dc already had it so they will have some % of immune responses even if it's low!

minimoomoo1711 · 21/12/2021 13:29

I’d go. Got as much chance of catching it anywhere else.

Newgirls · 21/12/2021 13:31

Yes!! You’ll have a brilliant time. Everyone wears masks.

limitedperiodonly · 21/12/2021 13:31

Didn't see that you were visiting people on the 28th. I'd behave as if DS and possibly the rest of us were going to catch it and have to cancel and weigh up what was more important to me.

mumofEandE · 21/12/2021 13:33

Yes I would go - but I am not buying tickets as presents this year as in the first lockdown I ended up with x6 lots of show tickets that I had to reschedule.
So I think I will just try and get tickets on the day.
What's the show? Enjoy!
