Horse puncher sacked

I just read that Sarah Moulds that dreadful woman who was caught on video kicking and punching a horse has been sacked from her job as a teacher. Can't say I'm sorry.

OP posts:

How bizarre that anyone should defend her? Giving the benefit of the doubt here, perhaps the pp can't reconcile the persona she presents in the 'community' with her behaviour when she thinks she isn't being watched? Many people who abuse seem completely normal and pleasant on the surface.

IfOnlyOurEyesSawSouls · 20/12/2021 23:32

@Megan2018 . Rationally this woman is not fit to be a role model for children.

Personally I would be pleased that my children had dodged her.

We NEED to spotlight cases like this so that as a society we are retaining morals and compassion.

Actions have consequences and it is much healthier for our children to see this outcome than feel sorry / sad about her job.

Megan2018 · 20/12/2021 23:34

@MrsSanteClaws

your horse.

Furthermore, your comment on this forum doesn’t point you in a good light. Are you perhaps Sarah Moulds trying to minimise her abhorrent actions? 🙄

I literally couldn’t give a flying fuck about being seen in a good light. I post my own photo on mumsnet, I don’t fanny about name changing. I stand by my opinions on everything I post.

My point is, the rejoicing on mumsnet about an outcome that doesn’t impact them directly is not shared by the community that is.

I support the Cottesmore in their actions, it’s entirely appropriate that she cannot follow them as her actions have damaged their reputation even though it had nothing to do with them.
I don’t support the school or the trust. I don’t think it is necessary to lose an excellent teacher permanently.

For the record, I used to hunt, I don’t anymore as my horse is semiretired. I likely will again in the future when all my cash stops going on childcare. This is not about a hunting debate. Most of the village and surrounding areas are pro hunting, we are a small farming/equestrian community. We are happy that the pub serves pheasant shot in the parish, we are happy that the children are taught by someone that hunts or shoots etc.

I’ve said what I wanted to say. You can all carry on with your internet bullying and wallow in your self righteousness in suburbia.

Bortles · 20/12/2021 23:34

Sorry, being watched by anyone who'd hold her accountable, I mean.
How awful to have been taught by someone behaving in that way.

Magnited · 20/12/2021 23:35

Very good point.

It made me think about meat though. I am a meat eater yet I do know what goes on in abattoirs and what animals go through.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 20/12/2021 23:39

@Megan2018

I’m very sad for her. She would’ve been DD’s teacher soon. The community here is very sad about it all. Her behaviour was unacceptable but the witch hunt unnecessary. It’s our children that are suffering- not the trolls online that have rejoiced in it all.
Do you really set the bar that low for who teaches your child? Personally I would not want my child in the class of someone who abuses animals, let alone hunts.

Born and bred in the country - utterly reject clinging to outdated and cruel practices. Undiluted utilitarian attitudes to animals have no place any more. Fox-hunting relevant as a signifier of lack of empathy and participation in a niche, out-of-touch environment that made her think she was behaving normally.
We had a RADA drama teacher who was fired for relationships with (recently) former pupils. Aside from sizing up potential future dates, as a teacher he was fun and inspiring. Still not keen to keep him for his teaching skills.

Queeen · 20/12/2021 23:50

Megan, the fact that you are a hunter, explains your position completely. Cruel to animals, both of you. Of course you don't care about what she did.

@MrsTerryPratchett

There is no place in this world got people who abuse.

But they are in the world. Sacking them doesn't mean they fell off the side of the earth. And they were filmed, which is why they're sacked. Not because they did it. Not exactly justice, is it?

I'm not defending horse punching, I mean really. But sacking people as well as any appropriate sentencing or relevant consequences? I just don't see how that is likely to work.

That is warped logic.

If she had not repeatedly punched, slapped and kicked that poor pony (whilst holding tightly to his reigns so he couldn't turn his head away) she could not have been filmed doing it.

There is no doubt she did it.

IhateBoswell · 20/12/2021 23:58

Can't muster any sympathy 🤷🏼‍♀️

When is Boris losing his job was my first thought on reading this news.

JeffThePilot · 21/12/2021 00:16

@Boxerine

You can see people inflicting "savage violence" on horses at every racecourse up and down the country though. Unless you think that those whips are for tickling
Not even slightly the same thing.
Boxerine · 21/12/2021 00:21

So whipping is painless?

Phrenologistsfinger · 21/12/2021 00:23

Good riddance! Hunt scum.

GreenClock · 21/12/2021 00:27

I suppose she could pose a risk to children too, if she flew off the handle. This is probably the right call.

Boxerine · 21/12/2021 00:27

Look, I'm not saying what she did was great. But there's loads of perfectly legal things horrible people do to animals that aren't just accepted but also monetised, televised and glamorized. So it seems a bit nutso to make such a fuss about this.

Also I don't think braying all over the internet for someone to be shamed and lose their livelihood just because everyone else is doing it is either fair or compassionate. It's medieval. Twitter shaming is the modern equivalent of the stocks.

Sorry that should say "lots of perfectly legal horrible things people do to animals"

blameless · 21/12/2021 00:30

I've never been a country person and know nothing about managing a quarter-tonne pony. I do think I know a little about human nature.
To those for whom unemployment isn't enough of a punishment, I would just ask if you think the publicity has extended the pony's life-chances or possibly dramatically shortened its life?
