Terrified

I'm terrified of getting my first vaccine. What side effects did people have with each vaccine?

3xpfizer.

Felt a bit tired, and had a slight temp but all gone by the next day.

Never had covid but I imagine it's not as quick a recovery!

thaegumathteth · 19/12/2021 01:10

Had 3 Pfizer. Not a single side effect.

Loo87 · 19/12/2021 10:54

I'm currently on maternity leave and I want them done by the time I go back. I work in retail

AZ no side effects and not even a sore arm.

DH had Pfizer and had a sore arm and a bit of a headache but gone in a couple of days.

OliveOyster · 19/12/2021 11:08

I have severe anxiety so I understand where you are coming from. I won't even take my prescribed anxiety medication because I'm anxious of the side effects. I'm also a single full time carer so if I go down it has serious consequences for my cared for.

1st vaccine (Astrazeneca): Sore arm and flu like symptoms for 24 hours but could still function.

2nd vaccine (Astrazeneca): Nothing

Booster (Pfizer): Sore arm and flu like symptoms for 24 hours but still able to power through the day.

TroysMammy · 19/12/2021 11:10

Pfizer x 3, slight sore arm. I always have vaccines in the arm opposite to the side I sleep on. I like my sleep more than I like writing.

HarrietOh · 19/12/2021 11:11

Moderna all 3.
Ill for nearly 2 days after all 3. First dose was the worst. Aches, fever, chills, sore arm, sore armpit and a general unwell feeling and no energy to do much.

I’ve had covid and only had a headache, so far the jabs have made me feel far more ill Grin

Shedmistress · 19/12/2021 11:13

Terrified.

Honestly this is totally ridiculous.

Blueuggboots · 19/12/2021 11:13

Sore arm, swollen glands In my armpit with the first. Nothing else. Carried on as normal.

dustandfluf · 19/12/2021 11:13

I had no side effects for either jabs nor my booster. Neither did my husband.

Wizzbangfizz · 19/12/2021 11:15

Sore arm no other effects.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 19/12/2021 11:22

I’ve had 2 Pfizer and moderna booster a couple of days ago. Had nothing but a sore arm with the 2 Pfizer. With the moderna booster I’ve had a very slight headache, chills, fatigue and muscle aches. Slightly unpleasant but much better than catching Covid and only lasted 24 hours.

lljkk · 19/12/2021 11:22

None of my American relatives & friends ever report any side effects. None whatsoever.

Frankii · 19/12/2021 11:23

I had my booster yesterday. Just like the previous ones, it made me a bit sleepy on and off, and has given me a temporary sore arm.

No one I know (friends, family, work) has reacted badly to it.

OP, I'm autistic and really sensitive to pain, terrified of queues and injections - I literally had a panic attack while queuing and then sat sobbing through the shot itself (which is especially hard when you're wearing a mask!) But the staff were really kind and quick, it's done and it's good.

I'm saying this because if I can manage it, you can too! I just wish I'd told the staff I was so nervous, they fast-tracked me the moment they realised I was losing it. So try talking to them when you get there?

Newbabynewhouse · 19/12/2021 11:24

Pfizer here.... sore arm on both and that was it x

Loo87 · 19/12/2021 11:28

She'd mistress... Total ridiculous. How do you know what people with anxiety go through?

The thought of dying not giving you anxiety though?

Polio, measles, rubella, flu, COVID...anti vaxers don't ever seem worried about the damage they cause by not being vaxxed and potentially letting these things back into the population.

So yes, totally ridiculous.

Od130990 · 19/12/2021 11:40

1st jab Pfizer put me off getting the 2nd & booster! 4 days of not being able to move the left side of my body. Heart felt like it was gonna beat out of my chest. Pins & needles in my head really weird sensations. Obviously not everyone is the same & it appears to be different side effects for everyone but it's a no thanks to the 2nd & booster from me!

Loo87 · 19/12/2021 11:45

Yeah the thought of catching covid terrifies me like everyone. But I'm just explaining how scared I am. I'm not anti vax!

Frankii · 19/12/2021 12:38

Take it step by step OP, that's how I managed it.

Book it for now. On the day, aim to get to the chair and talk to the nurses and helpers. You might feel by then it's easier to go through with it?

whitewashing · 19/12/2021 13:58

None.

CapitanSandy · 19/12/2021 14:43

Pfizer 1 sore arm and shingles a few days later
Pfizer 2 Sore arm bit warm and tired for a day
Pfizer 3 slightly sore arm.

mrsfollowill · 19/12/2021 22:14

Had our family trip out for boosters today.
DH, DS (19) and me. We all had Pfizer jabs- whole process was very quick and both DS and I didn't feel a thing- DS was startled and asked if that was it! No side effects at all not even a sore arm- not expecting any if the previous jabs are anything to go on.

Pluck up your courage - It has given me a real sense of relief and calm knowing we are all as protected as possible. Flowers

MMAMPWGHAP · 19/12/2021 22:49

I’m a volunteer vaccinator OP.
When you get to the vaccination centre please tell everyone you meet there that you are very nervous. They will all try to help you, but won’t know how you’re feeling unless you speak up for yourself.
Also make sure you have something to eat before you go.
Last week I had a shift and met a number of people having first jabs. There are plenty of people out there just like you who are overcoming their anxieties and being vaccinated.
You can do this, just make a booking.
