I'm desperately trying to stay awake but I keep nodding off and falling off my chair!
Ds has fallen asleep and is peaceful after being in terrible pain prior to coming to a&e.
He has suspected appendicitis Sad

@Unescorted

Could they not let you have a blanket or 2?
The room we're in is very warm so ds & I had one each of his blankets!

Hospitals are so hot & stifling aren't they. I guess they want to keep patients comfortable, but they are not a pleasant place for the perimenopausal.

I hope things start speeding up for you and you get answers soon x

skaknalposiey · 19/12/2021 08:12

I hope they get the scan sorted today OP. I have spent quite a while in hospital recently and everything does feel like it moves at a snails pace. I also spent quite a lot of time fasting for procedures to be postponed and cancelled, it's incredibly frustrating.

peridito · 19/12/2021 08:46

Oh that sounds tough OP .Please try to keep yourself as well hydrated as you can .Flowers

sm40 · 19/12/2021 08:47

My ds didn't have a scan. They went on blood tests and symptoms. Better out than in and having a scan added time when it could go pop! Hope it's done soon.

Benjispruce5 · 19/12/2021 08:53

Op I can’t because he’s not had the op. Surely it can’t be his appendix as he’s be very ill by now. Hopefully that’s a good sign and he’ll be scanned and you’ll be home soon Fingers crossed. Oh and can you get Wifi? Christmas shop online to fill the time xx

Benjispruce5 · 19/12/2021 08:53

Believe not because

Tulipomania · 19/12/2021 08:58

gosh OP so sorry this is taking so long for you to go through the process.

I now realise how lucky DS was to be operated on within 12 hours of getting to the hospital.

This was my thought? He's not deteriorated at all since we've been here and is sleeping quite peacefully with no recent pain relief.

Does appendicitis always move quickly? I don't know much about it and didn't want to google in case I scare myself!

I can only speak for my DC who had it very young(5) and was I’ll Saturday night, admitted Sunday lunchtime, operation on Monday morning 7am. By that time she was quite poorly and the appendix was sitting in pus. A colleague’s DD had it last week((17) and had op within 24 hrs.

Benjispruce5 · 19/12/2021 09:04

The pain normally gets more severe and constant but morphine would zap that. DD’s heart rate was very high too due to the infection.

littleowls83 · 19/12/2021 09:12

Dh had appendicitis, went to work fine in the morning, ate breakfast from Greg's and thought be had indigestion, by about 11am was feeling ill so drove himself home, by mid afternoon was being given morphine by injection in A&E and was put on urgent surgical list operated on overnight about 1am, texted me by 6am to say he was awake and fine. He didn't have a scan. He was in for maybe 3 days after as they couldn't find the right antibiotics. So in his case it was sudden and moved very fast.

anotherdaynotanotherdollar · 19/12/2021 18:34

How you getting on OP?

crosbystillsandmash · 19/12/2021 19:16

He's had a scan and we're waiting to hear the outcome now. It's been about an hour and I've got no concept of how long it might be before someone will talk to us?!

Ds is ok, comfortable and sat up watching stuff on his iPad.
I feel like I've been here for ages now, days pass by very slowly!

I hope you get the results soon. It's been an awful long time to get to this point.

comfortablyfrumpy · 19/12/2021 22:30

I hope you get the scan results soon. It's been a long wait, hasn't it. Good that your son has slept. You must be shattered.

Snog · 20/12/2021 12:49

Hope you are both ok today

crosbystillsandmash · 20/12/2021 13:03

Finally some good news, it was appendicitis, he had his surgery first thing and is doing ok!
Thanks so much to everyone who held my hand and offered support & advice Thanks

Glad he's doing ok and I'm sure they'll evict him pdq!

Benjispruce5 · 20/12/2021 13:13

Ah glad it’s done, finally! Hope you get home soon. Sounds like your son has a high pain threshold or the morphine was good stuff.Smile

comfortablyfrumpy · 20/12/2021 13:19

That must be such a relief. Hope he's home soon x

Ulysses · 20/12/2021 13:45
