We might as well stop with this pretense and just let them get on with shafting us from behind in peace

Haha brilliant!

This gets further beyond the realms of satire with every passing day.

WoodenReindeer · 17/12/2021 22:33

You couldn't make it up!

It does make you wonder if they wanted to put restrictions in but can't due to obvious noncompliance if the leaders cant do it.

Loved chris wittys comment about being a leader and settign an example 😁

This!

It's just unbelievable.

I went to zero parties last year I'm happy to step up and investigate!

WeeHaggisFace · 17/12/2021 22:38

I laughed out loud when this pinged on my bbc mews app earlier.

If sums up the whole shit show perfectly Grin I don't even think I'm mad anymore.

How could he have taken on the investigation knowing that he was just as bad? And why was he asked to? So much corruption going on in Number 10 it seems.

WeeHaggisFace · 17/12/2021 22:41

Please excuse my typos, I dropped my phone earlier and cracked my screen and it keeps jumping Sad

EatSleepRantRepeat · 17/12/2021 22:42

I think there would be very few office based people last year who didn't sneak in a party or two. I think this was around the time that we were only allowed over 6 people if it was a business function - square mile restaurants were taking "business meeting" bookings that were anything but.

I'm not excusing them, they are the law setters, but I'm furious that it's this that is sinking the ship rather than the starvation of the working poor or the 100,000+ deaths because of their incompetence.

Because he was always going to find no evidence of any parties. The government always mark their own homework and give themselves an A*

It's like living in North Korea at this point

You should see this video twitter.com/BorisJohnson_MP/status/1471840201144209414?t=24N1fWEOn04kWCtaUYTktA&s=19
Or even more excruciating is the full length version!!

It was being discussed on Twitter on the 8th of December that Simon Case was at the parties. I thought it was just gossip

It really is nothing like North Korea. Don’t be so ridiculous.

WeeHaggisFace · 17/12/2021 23:26

That video is wonderful

Yes this was highly predictable from a week ago.

You're the ridiculous one.

The current government can pass any legislation it wants due to its large majority. They are accountable to nobody. They can do what they want with impunity. Even the bloody Met police has washed their hands of this party thing, for example, so they are literally above the law.

Tell me how it's different to North Korea then

I thought the whole point of living in a so-called civilized society it that this kind of bullshit doesn't happen, and if it's found out it's clamped down on. We've got the people at the top of society, the elites, openly breaking the law and we just stand by and let them

Excuse my ignorance but is the Cabinet Secretary a Civil servant or is he a politician?

Also Johnson is constantly saying “I was informed no rules were broken” so has no his Cabinet Secretary lied to the PM or are they all in it tougher?! (I expect it’s the second!).

LizzieSiddal · 17/12/2021 23:55

*all in it together

GrazingSheep · 17/12/2021 23:58

@GreenLunchBox
Did you read the report today about executions in North Korea and the mutilation of bodies? That a father was forced to watch his son’s corpse being burned by a flame thrower ?

SilverRingahBells · 17/12/2021 23:59

I'm pretty sure Kim Jong Un doesn't wake up to see every daily paper sticking the knife in, that if he makes a tactical error trying to protect a colleague from a corruption charge that it doesn't result in him losing safe seats, that he doesn't have one hundred members of his own party voting against him.

This government is full of deplorable people who could do with kicking out of office and/or prosecuting, and the state of civic morals is in a lamentable state but this is not what it's like in actual dictatorships.

MalingeringMary · 18/12/2021 00:02

If you read in to this further, 6 people in an office had an hour of nibbles and drinks with 6 other people virtually joining in. In my office, that's lunchtime, not a party. I fear the 'goverment had a party, fucking bastards' rhetoric is being taken too far in this case.

LizzieSiddal · 18/12/2021 00:03

I’ve just heard on the news that he’s the “top civil servant”. So here’s THE top public servant, lying through his teeth!
