Am I the only one up worrying?

Hi
Is anyone else awake and worrying? My 5 year old has woken up with a bit of tummy ache, been to the toilet and now asleep with my husband. I’m not panic stricken that they’ve got a bug, they’re going to be really ill etc 🙁
Worrying at night seems so much worse? Why are you awake?

I am sure they will be fine and if its a bug, it going to pass quickly. Worrying at night does seem worse. I hope you get some sleep.

I am not worrying but been to sleep. Had a nightmare, woke up and can't sleep. Mum died 2 weeks today (thursday) so just sat feeling shit. Not worrying but missing her.

Try to rest, if you can. Flowers

I’m sorry, worrying about a bug seems so silly compared to what you’re going through. How are you? Have you got any support in real life? X

What’s making you worry so much though?

It’s not silly btw. I think we all worry when our children are ill x

I'm awake for the same reason. My DS came down with a stomach bug last night and I'm waiting for my DD to catch it too. An emetophobes nightmare isn't it?

I hope you get some rest too

I worry because I have covid at the moment and wake in the night and check my obs.
I worry about DC behaviour.
I worry this with be the last Xmas with my mum.
I worry I won’t get to spend Xmas with my mum if DC catch covid off me over next few days.
But I’ve never slept particularly well and I don’t let these worries consume me too much.

squashyhat · 16/12/2021 00:53

I'm worrying whether I should get a PCR test. I've had a cough for 3 days. I wouldn't say it's continuous but it isn't improving.

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/12/2021 00:56

I’m an emetophobe and I really struggle with my children being sick. At work we’re really affected by Covid at the moment (like everyone else) so I’m finding it hard to sleep anyway.
Sorry to everyone else who is awake!

I’m up worrying too and I’m not much of a worrier. The news about omicron is really scaring me and I feel like we are just about to be hit by this huge wave. I don’t know what is best to do, we have all sorts planned for the next two weeks and I don’t want DC or family to miss out but also I think this is going to be bad. Weirdly enough although I am theoretically the most vulnerable in the family to Covid due to autoimmune conditions, I’m not that worried about having it myself, I’m more worried about my DDs. But also about passing it onto vulnerable family members and also worried that the health system is about to be completely overloaded.
Sorry I’m sure that hasn’t really helped you 😂 but you are not alone tonight x

Its not silly. I would be doing the same. Thank you. I am ok. Just processing.
Darkpheonix · 16/12/2021 00:59

@sleighbellsjiggling thank you

toomuchlaundry · 16/12/2021 01:02

@squashyhat (love the name) if it is a new cough you should get a PCR, think it is treated as a symptom if you have had a coughing bout 3 times in 24 hours

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/12/2021 01:03

I hope you’re ok x
Sleigh bells oh no 🙁 I had a stomach bug a few weeks ago (caught from work, had fine everything to avoid getting it!) and no one else caught it.
Sorry to everyone with Covid related worries. It’s such a uncertain time at the moment and with Christmas thrown in as well!

Flowers OP. I do hope you manage to get some rest

Floralnomad · 16/12/2021 01:05

I’m always awake at this time , not worrying about anything . @1AngelicFruitCake it may be worth getting your child a covid test as a friends 8 yo currently has it and he started with a stomach ache and diarrhoea. Hope you get off to sleep soon .

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/12/2021 01:09

Thanks both. Ok will do. I’m hoping it’s not Covid! They had party food at school this afternoon and I’m hoping it’s the richness of that as she has quite a sensitive stomach if she eats rich food.

Will keep fingers crossed for you

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/12/2021 01:12

Thank you! I’m watching Netflix. Hope everyone else gets to sleep x

What a sweet post. Yes I hope its too much party food. It often is!

I'm worrying about how to get my brother and sister to call my Dad more (visits seem impossible for them) without nagging!

But at least there is no puke involved...

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/12/2021 01:22

😄 yummy pumpkin I have this problem with my brother. He will happily spend hours/days with his wife’s family but not our parents.
Yes I’m hoping that’s all it is. She’s been back asleep for over an hour so fingers crossed. Doesn’t help my husband moves around so much and I’m in the living room under our bedroom, listening out for every noise!

I remember myself the days of eating jelly, neoploutan ice cream, party rings and cocktail sausages until I was sick...I always thought it a price worth paying...but horrid for a concerned mum.

1AngelicFruitCake · 16/12/2021 01:38

😄 I did that once and never again! She won’t have eaten loads but she said she had quite a bit of juice so it’ll be that. Wish I had all my Christmas presents down here as I could do some wrapping!

Sorry to hear your little one is poorly, hopefully it’s something and nothing and over before it’s really got a hold.

I’m awake because one of my 2 year old twins woke for a feed 2+ hours ago and I find it next to impossible to go back to sleep once they’ve woken me up.

I’m also worrying a bit about the fact we have to move house in 7 weeks time (landlord is selling the house we live in and served us notice) and there is nothing coming up in our price range without moving 20-30 miles away in a semi rural county with poor transport links, being much further away from DH family who we moved to the area to be near, and moving down a bedroom to stay in an affordable rent bracket. Today we have a homelessness assessment by the council and I’m worried (with no basis at this point in time) that they will tell us they have no duty to ensure we don’t end up homeless and that we’ll be advised that they will only help us once bailiffs are on the doorstep to evict us (which would also generate costs to both us and our lovely landlord who has no choice but to sell and was genuinely upset to be asking us to leave).

SallyOMalley · 16/12/2021 04:22

My worry head is screwed on a bit too tightly tonight!

I woke up because I was overheating (thanks perimenopause), and now I'm thinking about covid, kids being in schools, impact on Christmas, whether I've bought everything I need without having to brave the town centre, everything that needs finishing at work before Xmas. Oh, and that bit of damp by the front door!

Gah. All pretty ridiculous in the overall scheme of things. I need to switch my brain off.
