Have you cancelled restaurant bookings

Reading just now that restaurants, hotels are losing bookings because of covid threat who's cancelling these bookings I wondered. Had a lovely lunch yesterday on Anglesey it was quiet but it is Tuesday. I'm off again next week for lunch again on 30th. No plans to cancel. But wondered if that's the norm

Absolutely not! If they're open, I'm going!

Flowertailbird · 15/12/2021 14:47

No, if they are open I am going too!

TheGriffle · 15/12/2021 14:49

We’ve just booked lunch for this Friday but it’s just Dh and I, no big group. We’ll sanatise our hands, wear masks and we’re triple jabbed and have had covid. We’re as safe as we can ever be and I want steak!

BernardsBum · 15/12/2021 14:52

I've just cancelled a birthday lunch booked for Friday at a nice restaurant, and that I was really looking forward to - the birthday girl has got Covid Sad

weebarra · 15/12/2021 14:56

Yes, but that was for convenience as the times didn't work for us. DF and I are having our annual Xmas lunch as usual on Saturday.

CovidCorvid · 15/12/2021 14:57

I’ve been cancelled. The restaurant has had to close due to staff having covid.

Iamblossom · 15/12/2021 15:00

Yes, I have cancelled a lunch on the 30th in Selfridges in London for DH and I, as I don't see the point in going into London and risk catching Covid when we can stay local instead. Wouldn't have cancelled if it was a local restaurant, indeed have bookings next week that I am not cancelling...

JustLyra · 15/12/2021 15:01

We’ve had a booking cancelled by the restaurant. They are going back to limiting group size and limiting tables as they’re struggling with staff.

KirkstallAbbess · 15/12/2021 15:03

God no. In fact I've bagged a couple of bookings due to others cancelling.

OompaLumpaLabrador · 15/12/2021 15:03

No, I'm making hay while the sun shines, as January and February are set to be grim. I rather hoped a few people had, but I still can't get lunch at the Wolesley for DD and I on Friday. If anyone is booked to go there for a Christmas treat and fancies cancelling, feel free.....

justasking111 · 15/12/2021 15:05

Ah glad you're all going bar the covid positive folk that's disappointing. I recall one year out area was decimated by the flu half the village spent NYE in bed. There's always winter bugs that scupper the best laid plans.

I'm not cancelling any plans

29ac · 15/12/2021 15:09

I have. Live in London, currently know 9 separate people all with covid. All unrelated from each other. This is the highest proportion of my friends with covid I’ve had since the pandemic started. I want to see family this Christmas rather than catch it and be stuck in isolation so have cancelled two reservations. If it wasn’t Christmas I would carry on as normal but not worth the risk for me at the moment.

Angelton · 15/12/2021 15:12

They are definitely losing bookings for big events. DH’s work party would have had a few hundred attendees so they’ve cancelled. Most of the staff have rebooked their Xmas party as a private dinner with half a dozen people in a small individual room or pod.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 15/12/2021 15:12

Nope. I'm going for meals on the 18th, 22nd and 24th then away on a UK break on the 27th where we will mostly eat out.

NMC2022 · 15/12/2021 15:13

Yep cancelled Christmas Day Sad

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 15/12/2021 15:14

My DH cancelled his works night out at a restaurant as it was part of a large group. We did go there for lunch instead as we both fancied the menu, but obvs that doesn't make up for all his coworkers no longer spending money there.

He had to cancel on advice from his bosses. Also, DH would not have been going anyway as I'm likely to be giving birth in the next 2 weeks and really don't want to go through it alone of DH catches covid or has to isolate!

NigellaBangBangTurkey · 15/12/2021 15:14

Absolutely not. Favourite places need my business. Not traveling for Xmas, no visitors.

Doidontimmm · 15/12/2021 15:16

Yes as we are travelling to see family on 27th so want to minimise risk

Quail15 · 15/12/2021 15:20

No, I'm going away for the week between Christmas and New year's with a large family group - Lots of meals out booked. We are all really looking forward to it.

SophieHatterPendragon · 15/12/2021 15:23

My DHs work drinks have just been cancelled and he thinks the curry they had booked for the weekend (hobby Xmas do) is about to be cancelled too.

He said lots of people don’t want to risk their Christmas so have decided to cancel instead

justasking111 · 15/12/2021 15:37

Having endured working dos three hundred people in a hotel function room, drunks, and scraps from other firms who had also booked tables. I don't miss that one bit

FrownedUpon · 15/12/2021 15:57

Yes we’ve cancelled 3 meals out. Covid is absolutely rife here & I’m not risking missing a family Christmas.

MeanderingGently · 15/12/2021 16:10

No, I intend to go to everything. We had the works Christmas lunch last Monday and I'm off to a restaurant this weekend and a family meal out next Monday.
I'm hoping everything goes ahead OK and nothing gets cancelled/locked down or whatever. This weekend is my "Christmas" anyway as I'm working over Christmas itself....and as others have said, I suspect January will be pretty grim.

Madickenxx · 15/12/2021 16:15

Not cancelled but decided to not eat out again until after Christmas. I'm flying out to see my family for Christmas so am limiting contacts in the hope that I don't catch Covid before I go. Haven't seen my family for 2 years so that takes priority over going out.
