Anyone else given up on pre-Christmas healthy eating?

DH and I generally follow SW and have had good results. Since December started though, it's just felt like there is no point in even trying anymore. It's almost Christmas, we're currently self isolating due to Covid and all I want to do is eat ALL the chocolate and crisps because 'I deserve it.' Anyone else just letting themselves go until the new year? Grin

NO NO NO!! don't do that

you know how hard it is to get the weight off again, and harder still to get back into a good mindset

DariaMorgendorffer · 14/12/2021 21:43

I usually do, but I am staying strong this year! Gonna keep it strict until Xmas eve, bar a day off this Saturday. Don't want to fall back on my work as I seem to pile it on so easily and quickly Xmas Hmm

SoSickOfItNow · 14/12/2021 21:44

No.

Once you give up trying it’s a slippery slope!

No, we don't buy it in the first place. It really isn't worth it.

GalesThisMorning · 14/12/2021 22:01

I've given up. I am eating everything. Meh.

Hippywannabe · 14/12/2021 22:12

No! At the beginning of September, I was firmly over 18 stones, today I am just 3lbs away from the 13s. I am absolutely determined to hit that before Xmas Day.

ApolloandDaphne · 14/12/2021 22:15

Gosh @Hippywannabe well done. I've lost a stone in that same time and felt I was doing well! You have been outstanding. How have you done it?

MarleneDietrichsSmile · 14/12/2021 22:16

Eat what you like, but a famine-or-feast mindset does not help for weight loss

m1shap3 · 14/12/2021 22:21

Nope, as I don't want to look like a Christmas pudding. I'm exercising even more to be honest, to counter what I am likely to be eating over this month

m1shap3 · 14/12/2021 22:23

To be fair though, I don't particularly 'healthy eat' anyway as it's boring and plans like SW I would end up giving up as they are too restrictive. I'd rather eat what I want, within reason, and burn it off

FallonCarringtonWannabe · 14/12/2021 22:23

What on earth is pre-christmas healthy eating? Sounds dreadful.

PurpleDaisies · 14/12/2021 22:26

There isn’t “no point”. Everything that goes on will be something you might have to lose again after Christmas if you’re going back on SW. SW gives you a lot of flexibility. Why don’t you just do a more relaxed version of normal rather than totally throwing healthy eating in the bin?

No one actually even said those words. Some people are trying to lose weight all year round for many reasons: health, vanity, conception etc. It is particularly hard around Christmas. Why is it hard to understand why people might want support with this?
MistySkiesAfterRain · 14/12/2021 22:30

I was thinking about this...99% of the year I don't want stilton, Baileys, canapes, chocolate shaped reindeer, or copious smoked salmon because it was a third off. Mid-December it's like Give Me Everything.

I've gotten round it by having a treat meal followed by soup n salad. All I want for Christmas is to be the same weight I was at the start of December at the end of it.

Also the thought that this is the sneaky effects of advertising helps.

TheHolyPotato · 14/12/2021 22:30

No!
I have started eating mince pies.
However for everything else I'm waiting til the day!

ApolloandDaphne · 14/12/2021 22:32

Actually I see that was the thread title. My post still stands!

Ginger1982 · 14/12/2021 22:49

You all make very valid points. I'm just finding it so hard not to reach for all the snacks! I'm an emotional eater, always have been.

Ok, I will pick it up again tomorrow and try to choose more wisely!

Also meant to be following SW and was doing OK but isolating and christmas chocolates don't mix. To be fair I think its just being stuck at home, boredom eating as lockdown wasn't good either.
Have now finished the chocolates and biscuits intended for Christmas time so trying to be good again and have realised that I didn't actually need to buy them into first place so will not be replacing.

As previous poster have said don't start on the slippery slope you'll only have to work harder again in January. As my consultant says take a few days off and then get back on it and go back to group ASAP.

You've lost 5 stone in 3 months? That's incredible! Well done you!

Really? I could happily chug a litre of Baileys done any time of year TBH.

December just makes it easier cos its half price.

Nibblypiggotonabus · 14/12/2021 23:09

@Hippywannabe wow, that is astonishing, bloody well done! Fast 800?

Somebodylikeyew · 14/12/2021 23:15

No, but i was you a month ago, ill and lurching from carb to carb!

I’ve doubled down now and I’m being extra strict till Christmas. I had lost four stone, but I gained a few lbs whilst ill. They’re nearly back off and I don’t want to face them again in Jan!

GoodTid · 14/12/2021 23:18

I don't really get the need to over eat at Christmas. I'll be eating Xmas Dinner (without the potatoes) but apart from a turkey I haven't purchased anything different to any other week.

Nsky · 14/12/2021 23:25

Don’t waste your money, buy something else, nice nail varnish save up for something?
You’ll end regretting it

I'm the only one in the house who doesn't have Covid but having to isolate under Nicola's rules so feeling even more hard done to! Grin I literally have no excuse though other than sheer greed.
