I was in London seeing a musical aftet dinner and then having a few drinks. We live quite far from London so though we went a few times a year it was always exciting and a big deal! One of my friends I was with has severe OCD and it seems unlikely we will ever have a trip like that again.

Getting ready to go to New York on the 16th for a 5-day break. I was so excited and had a wonderful time, but it was absolutely freezing cold. Strangely I was looking at some NYC stuff today and was overcome by a weird sort of longing to be there again, knowing I can't and how long it might be before we will ever get a 'normal' holiday again.

Cottonheadedninymuggins · 14/12/2021 17:01

@JuergenSchwarzwald

Blimey cottonhead - 25 years caring for your grandfather and now you're caring for your mother? Will you ever get any time for you?
Bless you, this has touched me. Thank you :)

Unfortunately, the answer is as expected... not a chance :( Everything on pause until the time comes for mum.

Not meaning to bring it down further - sorry all!

MrsDThomas · 14/12/2021 17:07

No idea. How do you all remember?!

MsBubbles85 · 14/12/2021 17:07

I was having a Christmas lunch with my in laws and some family friends, my husband and I had gotten married a couple of months before and it was our first Xmas a married couple.
This Christmas, I am pregnant with our first child.

Kiwi93 · 14/12/2021 17:08

Packing for a 3 week trip to Thailand over Christmas, feels like a million years ago now!

daisyjgrey · 14/12/2021 17:09

In Poland, doing a uni residency.

ninnynonny · 14/12/2021 17:12

Waiting for my mum to die :( She had been in a care home for a few weeks after being in hospital after a brain haemorrhage and stroke and was hanging on for dear life. She hung on for another two months. It was a pretty stressful time

cobblers123 · 14/12/2021 17:15

I'd literally just retired. Full of what I would be doing the following year.

The reality was I was in and out of hospital, having one op delayed due to Covid until September.

No exactly a great start ... Grin

Bananarice · 14/12/2021 17:23

I was saying no to Christmas holiday getaway. I didn't to go anywhere while pregnant. Told him to pack his own bag if he wants to go. He managed to hold on until January before he left for a week in Egypt (he likes to go once a year minimum and I'm very happy to be home). It was a happy compromise.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/12/2021 17:23

I went to the cinema with DS to watch Abominable! Not long got back from New York City, that was the last trip abroad I took.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 14/12/2021 17:24

@MrsDThomas

No idea. How do you all remember?!
Facebook memories for me Grin
MrsDThomas · 14/12/2021 17:38

Oh nothing then! No memory 😒

PermanentTemporary · 14/12/2021 17:47

Oh blimey! Not sure it was exactly today but 2 weeks ago this week I finally dumped my lover because I'd stalked him so egregiously that I was afraid of what I might do next. I think by the end of the week I was back on a hookup site making new assignations. I wonder now how I had the energy for it all.

PermanentTemporary · 14/12/2021 17:47

2 years ago not 2 weeks ago!

Wrongaddress · 14/12/2021 17:50

Literally no idea! Working probably, the same as I was today

SophieHatterPendragon · 14/12/2021 17:53

We went out for lunch at our fave little cafe with our newborn daughter and our 15 month old.
Put up the Christmas tree that evening once DS1 got home from school

ALightThatNeverGoesOut · 14/12/2021 17:59

Had a really horrendous cold/flu that went on for weeks with a terrible cough even after a dose of antibiotics.

Of course a few months later I was convinced it had been the Covid but a couple of months after that I had a negative antibody test. So it was just cold/flu but Jesus I felt rough for ages with it.

soughsigh · 14/12/2021 18:03

My phone calendar tells me I was at my husband's work Christmas party. Our 15mo was still sleeping appaulingly and I was knackered, FIL came and picked us up at about 11pm.

Glad that it's been cancelled again this year 😂

Crabwoman · 14/12/2021 18:07

@eurochick

I was recovering from what seemed to be flu. Whatever it was made me the illest I have been in my adult life. I was just starting to turn the corner after about a week and then suddenly went downhill and was diagnosed with bronchitis due to my hacking cough and difficulty catching my breath. Hmmm.
Exactly the same. Hmmmm again!
Scarby9 · 14/12/2021 18:08

Clearly not making enough of the freedom we the had!
There is a gap in my photos from 6 Dec to 19 Dec so I assume I was just working and doing nothing specisl.
What a waste.

labazslovesliving · 14/12/2021 18:10

DP and I ran a dog walking and home sitting business so usually spent Christmas apart our first Christmas was spent 35 miles apart and due to the weather would not be able to meet up as planned. That was our last crazy Christmas as due to covid our business folded; people were walking their own dogs.

witsendeverytime · 14/12/2021 18:17

Packing for our trip to visit family in the USA! We left on Dec 16th for two weeks. Oh blissful, ignorant times....
A friend had been on a cruise to the Caribbean over oct/November half term and came back saying she had a cough she just couldn't shake and had never felt so exhausted...

justaddcandlelight · 14/12/2021 18:20

I was in the very first few days of pregnancy. I was so happy and due to get engaged. I had no idea. Neither worked out.

ShanghaiDiva · 14/12/2021 18:21

On holiday in Vietnam.

MintyCedric · 14/12/2021 18:21

@cottonheadedninymuggins

Huge respect to you and best wishes for a much improved 2022.

I've been caring for my Olds for 3 years and am already at the end of my rope so can't imagine how you do it.
