I was in London seeing a musical aftet dinner and then having a few drinks. We live quite far from London so though we went a few times a year it was always exciting and a big deal! One of my friends I was with has severe OCD and it seems unlikely we will ever have a trip like that again.

We were also santa-training two years ago. It's strange looking back at the pictures with no social distancing or masks! They managed to run them last year thankfully, and we're off again this year too. I hope it's something we can do for years to come Xmas Smile

LittleRoundRobin · 14/12/2021 15:38

I was in Lapland this time 2 years ago, with DH, and our DC. It was so magical. Loved every minute. Can't believe we were only a few weeks away from the pandemic at the time.

BlooBagoo · 14/12/2021 15:38

I was stuck in the house waiting for deliveries and decorating our tree. It was our first Christmas in our new house.

ZittiEBuoni · 14/12/2021 15:40

We put the Christmas tree up and I had an argument (not serious) with dd2 about whether to put the traditional angel at the top or her newly acquired David Bowie bauble that we'd got in Selfridge's the weekend before.

It would have been the Christmas presentation at her musical theatre group that day too - something she absolutely loved but didn't go back to after lockdown as she had a serious eating disorder by then Sad.

(She's much better now btw.)

itssquidstella · 14/12/2021 15:43

I was skiing in Canada 🍁

YodaiamsaidI · 14/12/2021 15:44

Going to my dds christmas concert, unknown to me,was the last one my dds would be in.

Treez21 · 14/12/2021 15:45

Working at two schools where a horrible virus was sweeping through and the schools actually had to close. It was norovirus. If only we knew what was to come!

Oldhabitsarehardtobreak · 14/12/2021 15:46

I would have been halfway down a bottle of Cava, Christmas songs playing, decorating the tree and planning a family movie -with more drink-once it was all decorated.

This weekend was my second year decorating a Christmas tree sober.

BettyfromBristol · 14/12/2021 15:52

Working, much as today, although I'm a bit more online this year.

Numbertime · 14/12/2021 15:54

My almost 1 year old had a very gunky eye and a cough, my father had just had the worse ‘flu’ he’s ever had, still wonder if they could have had something else.

BogRollBOGOF · 14/12/2021 15:55

At a winter-wonderland with the DCs.

DS1 had looked like he was over the worst of a bad cold, but quickly floundered mid-morning and ran out of energy. Ended up rather poorly again the next day, on the Monday morning I tried phoning the GP but gave up after it rang out 38 times. He had post-viral fatigue for the next 2-3 months.
We hadn't heard of the C word then!

grooveonthemove · 14/12/2021 15:57

I was packing my case getting ready to fly to the UK; making plans to see my family and friends. Now I've got a sick feeling in my stomach, preparing to call my parents to say 'Sorry, I don't think I'll make it next week'. My mum is going to be so upset, she'll say she understands but that call is going to break my heart Xmas Sad

WeKnowFrogsGoShaLaLaLaLa · 14/12/2021 15:57

Having reconstructive surgery!

fedup078 · 14/12/2021 16:01

I was heavily pregnant , I think we'd just had our works night out . Little did we know it would be the last for the foreseeable
Is it weird I get this strange pang of jealously of my past self not having to worry about all this shit? 😂

Nsky · 14/12/2021 16:02

Getting through severe hormonal depression wondering when I’d get the right drugs, I did in March’20, oh and working

DrCoconut · 14/12/2021 16:04

Watching DS's year 4 Christmas concert, little realising that it would be the last time 😭

ChloeCrocodile · 14/12/2021 16:08

I was planning a school trip scheduled for April 2020. Spent ages getting all of the finance, permission slips, staffing in place and was really quite excited about it because it was the first one I'd properly planned myself. Obviously that trip never went ahead.

Redcrayons · 14/12/2021 16:08

Google images just reminded me it was my works Christmas party. I think it was my last normal Christmas night out.

Crabwoman · 14/12/2021 16:10

I had been to a concert in Leeds and was about to come down with a horrendous cold which then turned into a virul chest infection which lasted for months...

Went to the doctor mid Jan who said,

"Yeah it's this really weird intense viral thing going round".

Hmmmmm 🧐

SingingSands · 14/12/2021 16:10

Went to see Bjorn Again with friends and sang and danced all night, then we went for a McDonald's afterwards and sat at a table chatting with random drunk strangers in Christmas jumpers.

ChloeCrocodile · 14/12/2021 16:11

Is it weird I get this strange pang of jealously of my past self not having to worry about all this shit?

Completely normal! I'm quite annoyed at my past self for not realising how easy life was at the time (compared to now obviously).

Dollywilde · 14/12/2021 16:11

I'd found out I was pregnant the previous weekend and was very excited about everything that was about to come - I hear you @mistermagpie and @PinkWaferBiscuit.

Anyway, I took the car for it's MOT in the morning and in the evening DH and I went out for a pizza. So not exactly seminal but have fond memories of that time.

(I'm now pregnant again and it feels like a million years since I had a 'normal' Christmas - having done two pregnant and one in lockdown with a 4 month old, Christmas 2018 is a distant memory!)

onetwothreeadventure · 14/12/2021 16:13

4 months into a 6 month family holiday. The grandparents had just flown in to spend Christmas with us and everything was so carefree and magical. We flew home in February blissfully unaware of what was ahead.

PinkWaferBiscuit · 14/12/2021 16:13

Is it weird I get this strange pang of jealously of my past self not having to worry about all this shit?

I'd think it odder if someone didn't feel jealous of their past self to be honest. I think it's totally normal to be envious that past you didn't have to think over everything and plan stuff with military precision. I'm certainly jealous of how spontaneous past me could be.

nannybeach · 14/12/2021 16:14

Frantically packing! Moved on the 16th December, couldn't get time off work,so worked 12.5 hour night shift (nursing) spent all day packing. DH had gone away on a work course. Suddenly contracts exchanged and completion 4days time.
