I am not sure how long things are supposed to stay on was all very rushed at end but feeling fine and can move normally. I am just staying in recliner but it moves with you so I have to keep moving with it and to reach things and doing some leg exercises and arm ones. I think they said compression stockings on until move normally. I was very impressed by the 25ish year old having breast cancer surgery there, poor thing, who managed to make them look sexy by wearing black tights over them. I can check on Monday. Also didnt get a softie but I am not that big and in a mastectomy padded bra and a massive fleece onesie so its fine.

Silkieschickens · 19/12/2021 08:36

I think one thing was 5 days, maybe the bandage and one two weeks maybe the stiches

Lemonsandlemonade · 19/12/2021 09:16

@Silkieschickens glad you are doing as ok as you can and are keeping things in perspective I’m not sure I could. I really think it would have helped for you to have information written down for you. 😬

I'm so glad you're feeking not so bad Silkies and that you're being looked after. Ikea meatballs and mash is a great meal, one I must get once my car is fixed (can't drive it 'cos I'm worried the water pump will fall off).

In exciting news, I woke up this morning and checked my Twitter notifications and J.K.Rowling had liked one of my tweets. Made my day. :o

HildaTablet · 19/12/2021 13:01

Ooh, that’s enough to prompt a quiet glow of satisfaction, DoctorTwo, well done. I gave a similar inner cheer when Mary Beard once liked one of mine

We got everything packed up and we’re on the road. In fact we’re almost at our destination and have had a good drive (almost 4 hours) until this very moment when we’ve hit the first delay. Hopefully it won’t last too long.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/12/2021 13:40

DH is cooking pörkölt (we used to call it goulash but a Hungarian friend corrected us), we'll eat any minute now.
Then DD and I will hoover and dust, move some furniture around to make space for the tree. Then we'll bake again. And I have finally persuaded DS's mobile to download the CovidPass app he needs for public transport.

Silkieschickens · 19/12/2021 15:39

Well done Dr2

I bought some Christmas seat cushions and within 30 seconds of dh putting one on this happened.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/12/2021 15:48

Well, it is obviously her job to make sure all the cushions are fit for purpose!

Furniture moving has been completed.
It is windy and raining - my empty flower boxes tried to escape from the balcony.

MissConductUS · 19/12/2021 16:06

Welcome back, @RhubarbFairy, it's lovely to see you again dear. New recycling bins are perfect for Christmas.

Welcome, @thismeansnothing, and thanks for sharing your disappointing shopping news. What is TU? Sorry, I'm a Yank. Smile

Silkie, I'm glad you are recovering so well. Still take care not to overdo it. If you can get by with just ibuprofen that's good.

I went to church this morning, made my Christmas offering and had a chat with the rector. She reminded me that it's my third Christmas attending this church and said how glad they were to have me. She's also roped me in to serve on the Finance Committee in January. She's lovely and I'm glad to do it.

I stopped by the supermarket on the way home and got some things to take to my brother's house the day after Christmas. Brie cheese, shrimp, sweet Italian hard sausage, posh crackers and a few things for Christmas dinner as well.

Tuesday is DD's birthday. I've ordered her favorite cake from our local bakery. It's strawberry with a vanilla custard filling. They do a beautiful, delicious cake.

I’ve done the last Christmas shopping bits (bar food) and have cleaned the kitchen and done the ironing. I really do need to start some wrapping but am listening to the Archers omnibus instead.

IWanderedLonely · 19/12/2021 17:17

The workmen never turned up yesterday so no hi-vis news to report. Why are tradespeople so unreliable? DH does most of our DIY but doesn't want to go on the roof (60 feet high so I can't blame him.).
We went to our church's outdoor Carol singing this afternoon. It was foggy and cold but really lovely even hough the violinist goes far too slowly Xmas Smile

Silkieschickens · 19/12/2021 19:36

Thanks MissC hope your DD has a lovely birthday. Silkiecat is currently furious with DH as he has been lying in bed upstairs and now on the phone, he sees her every 5 minutes but this service level is totally unacceptable plus he gave all the roast turkey to humans, pure evil move.

Champagneforeveryone · 19/12/2021 19:45

DS is home from work and is playing guitar. I've just realised that he's been playing for over two hours and how much I will actually miss it when he goes to uni. It seems a million miles from us constantly nagging him to practice and the stilted tones of "Smoke on the water" Grin

Lemonsandlemonade · 19/12/2021 20:41

@MissConductUS TU is a clothing range from a supermarket Sainsbury’s. They do lovely clothes particularly for babies and young children.

Love your Christmas cushion @Silkieschickens.

Having quite a time of it. Work person has made a totally unfounded complaint against me which made me cry. Said person is not renewing contract in January (their choice). Although unfounded it needs investigating. My bosses have backed me.

On up side DH made me roast beef dinner. Was yummy.

Prokupatuscrakedatus · 19/12/2021 21:28

DH is frugal and thinks carefully about every expense, but DD and I have found a gift for him. His floor lamp (? Deckenfluter) has stopped working after 15 years and he will get a new one. Something that is absolutely neccessary and therefore allowed. Grin

DS wants a plush triceratops from IKEA.

Diana8 · 19/12/2021 21:41

My chest is better today. I've had severe asthma for months.
My cat has been ill but looks happier.
I have got 5000 calories into my stick-thin husband today.
I made my 80 year old Mum cauliflower cheese with free-range hard boiled eggs, and she loved it.
Its It's been a good day here.

MissConductUS · 19/12/2021 21:52

Welcome, @Diana8, and thanks for sharing your news. Are you on medication for the asthma, and what's your cat suffering with? We adore cat pictures on this thread. Smile

Lemons, I'm so sorry you had to go through that at work. Your coworker is certainly leaving on a bad note.

Prok, A floor lamp is a lovely gift. I bought myself a new one last summer and enjoy it every day.

We had a nice zoom call with DS. He has exams on Tuesday and Wednesday, then drives home on Thursday. Thankfully the weather forecast looks good.

Took the DC to a local garden centre today for our traditional annual 'buy a decoration for the tree'. I've got rid of all generic baubles now and only have a collection of ones made for us by friends or the DC or ones we've chosen each year.

DS1 went for his usual blingy approach, DS2 bought a reindeer with his name on and I got a cute gnome.

Had my booster jab yesterday so feeling sore today.

RhubarbFairy · 20/12/2021 00:21

Forgot to add the garden centre photo

MissConductUS · 20/12/2021 00:39

Great picture, @RhubarbFairy. My garden center is nowhere near that festive. I think that garden centers here are more utilitarian than yours.

Are those your kids in the picture? DH has a winter parka in that same shade of blue.

This one puts on a fabulous Christmas shop every year. This is another of the displays. They are mine yes. DS1 is making a point of continuing to wear shorts. Yesterday and today I told him that I didn't want to hear it if he was cold, he could have dressed appropriately.

Come and tell me your dull and unexciting news 20: Calmly through the day
Lemonsandlemonade · 20/12/2021 01:04

@MissConductUS to be honest I’m so extremely worried by it it’s affecting my life.

@RhubarbFairy I love it

MissConductUS · 20/12/2021 01:14

@RhubarbFairy, boys wear shorts in the winter here too. It's inexplicable.

@Lemonsandlemonade, if this person is leaving, surely that lowers her credibility. Has she shown animus towards you before? Can her accusations be readily disproved?

OP posts:
Lemonsandlemonade · 20/12/2021 01:33

@MissConductUS yes the persons account can be disapproved I have followed everything within our policies and procedures and it’s very much sour grapes in my opinion.

I’m just gutted too coz the complaint is the opposite to how I am. I was telling a close friend and they were so shocked and said the comments are slanderous. My friend understands the situation but can’t explain further as it would be outing.
