I'm reading some really sad posts on another thread and I feel very downhearted and hopeless too..

I would like to try and find some light amongst the darkness, maybe distract from the news and the current situation that is dominating many of our families' lives.

I will start. I'm feeding the birds in my garden and we have a very friendly female blackbird who sits and waits for me to put seeds out every day. It warms my heart to know that I'm making a difference to her life. She is super brave and lets me get quite close to her before flying away ❤

Also, Baileys is on special at Sainsburys. Smile

After insisting that a client get herself checked out even though she thought it was OTT and her GP fobbed her off 4 times, she was diagnosed with very very easily endometrial cancer. It’s easily treatable at this point and we’re both really relieved.

If your healthcare provider is fobbing you off, advocate for yourself or find another healthcare professional to advocate for you.

We have our Christmas tree up, lights on, presents underneath, fire lit and there's only 12 days to go. I'm probably more excited than the kids!

VoyageInTheDark · 13/12/2021 16:54

Managed to book my booster after trying all day!

I hope she puts in a complaint about her GP, some of them are a bit too keen to fob people off.

There was a real possibility DH might have to work on Christmas day, but luckily, we found out that he won't have to.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 13/12/2021 16:57

I’m watching the repair shop.

I wouldn’t care if my only job there was to sweep or make brews - it seems like a place of love and care.

It is my go to when I want my cockles warmed.

The birds in our garden are slightly less polite. If they aren’t fed at an hour that suits, they start chapping on the windows. ☺️

DS(3yo) took Christmas cards into nursery today and he so proudly handed them all out to all of his friends it was just the cutest thing ever.

DD1 had her nativity today. Outdoors in the playground and the weather was fine & the children had a wonderful time. Many a weepy eye in the parent's audience - very proud and cockles thoroughly toasty

Just booked a weekend away at Easter with extended family and am already thinking about fun stuff l can plan for the kids who are all different ages

TroysMammy · 13/12/2021 17:03

A patient rang me this morning just to say thank you for being able to fit him in to have a consultation with a GP and get antibiotics last Friday. Another one gave me chocolates, a handmade Christmas decoration and a request for another cucumber plant next year. She had loads from the plant I gave her earlier this year.

@bananasinchristmaspyjamas picturing your ds with his cards brought a lump to my throat Smile. I wish my teen was little again!

SingingSands · 13/12/2021 17:11

Got my booster today, administered by an absolutely charming soldier. Gave this old bird something to smile about Smile

Hen2018 · 13/12/2021 17:15

Teenager’s first vaccine done today.

SpikyHatePotato · 13/12/2021 17:23

We've opened panto and done 6 performances. 6 theatres-full of happy people. And I was a cog in the wheel that made it happen, when I thought after this long I'd forgotten how to do it

bananasinchristmaspyjamas · 13/12/2021 17:29

@Romeiswheretheheartis I could cry thinking about it! He was SO proud because he'd 'written' them Xmas Grin I think I'll remember those ten minutes this morning forever

ChequerBoard · 13/12/2021 17:40

Also had my booster today. I was worried about going because I've damaged my right knee so standing and walking are really painful right now. Didn't want to make a fuss whilst queuing up.

The staff manning the vaccination centre were so lovely and helpful, they took me through a shortcut route so I didn't have to queue - I almost cried!

Thanks to everyone helping organise and deliver the vaccination programme across the country.

BirdyBee · 13/12/2021 17:41

My almost 20 month old said mummy today for the first time and my 3 year old ran over to him and said "you go dude hi five" and they did a hi five!

redtshirt50 · 13/12/2021 17:51

My small business had its best day ever today!

And my new jeans I got delivered fit perfectly - which is a rarity for me

notawittyname1954 · 13/12/2021 18:02

My favourite band has released a new video, which makes me smile.

Riverlee · 13/12/2021 18:04

Since lockdown, we’ve explored the countryside on our doorstep. Lots of lovely towns and resorts.

AlfonsoTheUnrepentant · 13/12/2021 18:04

I didn't let loose on my annoying co-worker. Any day that I manage to retain my self-control around that person is a good day.

pastypirate · 13/12/2021 18:06

The dds are at the kitchen table making resin jewellery it's their new hobby. We are listening to they might be giants and laughing. Covid can't take this away from us.

MarmaladeToastAndAMarmaladeCat · 13/12/2021 18:06

I got to watch my sweet boy in his first nativity this morning. His little face lit up when he saw up and was smiling and waving throughout the whole thing.

Hippychickster · 13/12/2021 18:06

It's my birthday on Wednesday and my DD's on Friday. She lives in London and is coming home for both and I can't wait!

pastypirate · 13/12/2021 18:07

Also I'm having cbt on the nhs. Face to face. My therapist is quite you g but she's bloody amazing and I doubt she knows what an impact she's had on my sanity.
