Let's all post some small positives, to help in these sad times

I'm reading some really sad posts on another thread and I feel very downhearted and hopeless too..

I would like to try and find some light amongst the darkness, maybe distract from the news and the current situation that is dominating many of our families' lives.

I will start. I'm feeding the birds in my garden and we have a very friendly female blackbird who sits and waits for me to put seeds out every day. It warms my heart to know that I'm making a difference to her life. She is super brave and lets me get quite close to her before flying away ❤

Also, Baileys is on special at Sainsburys. Smile

It’s not much but if I hadn’t seen this thread I’d never have thought - I’m being vaccinated this week at my doctors - I’ll be taking them/staff a card.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 13/12/2021 18:09

Got boosted today and they gave me a sticker! I haven’t managed to get a sticker before so obviously this was very exciting.
Then dh and I sat by the sea and had a bacon sandwich.

Dh is a Dr but at home recovering from a hip replacement, today he got a get well card in the post from one of his patients. The patient had sent it to the hospital who forwarded it to our house. Dh was really touched that the patient had thought about him. It was a small thing but very appreciated.

My DD hung some tiny penguin Christmas decorations on the tree with me today.

BettyfromBristol · 13/12/2021 18:35

A seventeen year old was telling me she's making plans to look after and entertain her younger siblings on Christmas afternoon. Her mum is single but has booked a shift to give booster jabs. Teenage girl says that she is very happy to do her bit to help the vaccination programme, she's not at all resentful. Most teenagers are fantastic.

I was given an amaryllis bulb by a client on Wednesday and it has started to shoot already.

Love the image of the tiny postman.

PCR test confirmed I just had a cold, not COVID, so was able to see oldest sing with their choir last night and it was beautiful. They've been fortunate to get into a really exceptional ensemble, the choir works sometimes with professional adult choirs and records stuff for film and TV.

DS has come back from uni, bringing loads of hugs, endless appreciation of home, some Trappist monk beers and Godiva chocs. He helped me make a macaroni cheese and we chatted all afternoon. He admired all the redecorating we'd done in his absence. I haven't had this many hugs in an afternoon since i was first dating DH.

Inclinedtochatter · 13/12/2021 18:51

Proud mum boast! DS passed his driving test first time today! He is 18 two days before Christmas and has been with a fantastic local company since August doing an apprenticeship in plumbing and heating. He has never given us any problems and I'm so proud of him and the young man he is becoming.

Someone this weekend moved heaven and earth to change work schedules to do something to help me.

ponkydonkey · 13/12/2021 19:57

I made beautiful mince pies today
Turned out perfectly 😀

Littleoakhorn · 13/12/2021 20:10

I donated some of my kids’ warmest, nicest clothes to the local baby bank and then had a really productive day at work on a report I’d struggled with previously.

SpanielsAreMyLife · 13/12/2021 20:14

I made the most epic vegetable soup today.

Even DD said "wow Mum, you outdid yourself there". Normally she just moans about the amount of chili and garlic I've used Grin

musicalfrog · 13/12/2021 22:20

These are lovely! Just what I needed to read 🥰

@LadyCampanulaTottington

What where the symptoms?

Op covid has been good for us in many ways. Obviously not good in many others but..

It's taken huge pressure off us with the in laws, the pushiest strangest people I've ever had the displeasure to meet. Dh working from home has been hugely helpful to me and school runs with youngest dd.
All the little appt he's managed that would have been a huge pain for me.

Anomelettefortheroad · 13/12/2021 23:24

I got a beautiful little rescue dog a few weeks ago, and i honestly don't know who has rescued who. I didn't know how much i needed her until she arrived in my life. She's the best dog.

vipersputpaidtomylastusername · 14/12/2021 00:03

It's threads like these you wish there was a 'like' button. Lovely thread OP, so many heartwarming posts.
I received my booster this afternoon (booked a while ago), and so far so good, no reaction yet.....

MintyCedric · 14/12/2021 00:13

DD17 is in the happiest, most confident place she's ever been and is totally winning at life right now, despite Covid and losing her grandpa (my dad) this year, and all down to her own incredible hard work and self motivation.

My best friend since we were 4yo is joining us for Christmas Day...she's been the most amazing support for the last couple of years and is so like family it will be wonderful to have her there.

...and my cats are adorable Smile

My brother got out of hospital today, been in nearly 3 weeks for covid, including time in ICU.

sadeyedladyofthelowlandsea · 14/12/2021 00:43

Laughing and laughing and laughing with the DC this evening over something so ridiculous it wouldn't make sense to anyone else. DD (13) ran in to show us a photo on her phone but she was laughing so hard she couldn't speak. DS (16) slid down onto his bum on the kitchen floor with his head in his arms. I ended up on my hands & knees.

After about three minutes DS wheezed 'I'm actually CRYING' and that set us all off again. It was such a stupid, silly moment, but the three of us on the kitchen floor absolutely incapable with laughter was just brilliant.

Mydogisagentleman · 14/12/2021 07:38

Probably less interesting than the previous posts, but my dog gets his stitches out in and hour and a half and he is cancer free!
He has had them in for two weeks and has been such a good boy despite the baby vests and cone.

IggyAce · 14/12/2021 07:43

My ds came out of school with the cutest wooden snowman that he had made in class, since he’s year 6 I accept that it’s probably the last cute make I will receive.

That's gorgeous @IggyAce

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 14/12/2021 08:13

mydog

In my time I’ve seen enough ‘cones of shame’ and the grumpiness they cause! Not to mention bump injuries to the backs of legs!

Best wishes to you and your lad going forward 🐾 🐾 ☺️

AllThatFancyPaintsAsFair · 14/12/2021 08:15

These are all nice, I'm sure I remember similar type stories during the initial lockdown, was that on here?

I finlly managed to finish some work that I wasn't enjoying and so putting off Always a good feeling he it's done.

falleninlove · 14/12/2021 08:18
