I’m only talking about the quiz - and responding to people saying how bad that is in terms of ‘breaking the rules’

If it’s all the stuff that is mounting up for them then it’s more understandable

I think whoever’s next might be further in line with MPs who don’t want restrictions so actually if he goes then so be it

Unescorted · 12/12/2021 12:01

Does the lying in Parliament about not bother you? He stood up in the House of Commons and said he did not know of any parties in number 10. Yet there is a picture of him at a party in Number 10. He did not say actually sorry people we did have a bit of an afterwork shin dig & I read out some quiz questions... Soz xxxx He said that he did not know.

The lying this week shows he has no integrity.

StrongSunglasses · 12/12/2021 12:04

The opposition that is needed is a party/potential leader who scraps the blanket rules and facilitates those who are vulnerable or scared, not someone stricter ffs. It’s like a choice between dumb and dumber out there, and if “dumb” is more relaxed with personal freedom than “dumber” stripping us of our rights, then it’s not a good choice - but is an easy decision.

Romeiswheretheheartis · 12/12/2021 12:15

But it isn’t just the quiz is it?
We had the Barnard Castle debacle, the lies about the decorating funds, the Johnson’s having guests over Christmas, the numerous parties being hinted at, the missed COBRA meetings. The lies followed by lies & more lies.
Anyone defending all of that either has a vested interest or is a fool.

Exactly. He's getting away with things because people treat them as isolated incidents, when in reality it's a never ending tsunami of blatant lying and disregard for the people of this country.

OhWhyNot · 12/12/2021 12:19

Does his lying bother me. Boris Johnson lying - yes it’s always bothered me that everything is smokescreens and contrived I have always known he is a liar we have all known this

Do I expect better from our PM absolutely but this is who many voted for

Catching him out lying/pushing the boundaries isn’t enough it’s needs to be something bigger than this quiz and it needs to not look like Cummings getting his revenge

The government has very big decisions to make in the comings weeks (maybe even days) this will start to look irrelevant when bigger issues need dealing with

Either the press come out with something that voters will not accept (what that is I’m not sure)

I feel the answer to get rid of Johnson is to have a stronger opposition, this is about the next election now and who will win not integrity (Johnson has never been a man described as having integrity)

KittenCatcher · 12/12/2021 12:41

Not defending him at all but presumably the person who just happened to have screenshot this, kept it for a year, sold it to the rags at the same time as all the other leaks was also there at the quiz. Are they and everyone else who took part all going to resign too. They must of all known what the rules were. Where are the photos of the other staff huddled around their computers in groups of six. They are all as bad as each other.

Not really. The other people involved should be held to account, but they're not as bad as him. He's the actual PM, breaking the rules that he himself has made.
Unescorted · 12/12/2021 13:24

Lying to the HoC contravenes the Ministerial Code. It is a sacking offence. It doesn't matter what the lie pertains to it is the act of lying.

ChristmasPlanning · 12/12/2021 15:13

@Hospedia

He's hardly St Boris but I just can't get excited about a meeting of people who had already spent the day working together. 12 months ago.

Twelve months ago when roughly 500 people a day were dying and upwards of 30,000 were being infected. Twelve months ago when people care home were unable to see their loved ones. Twelve months ago when people were dying alone without the comfort of their families around them. Twelve months ago when funeral numbers were restricted, weddings were cancelled, people were facing spending Christmas alone, jobs were being lost due to the economy nosediving, mental health was taking a battering, whole schools of children were being sent home for ten days at a time due to the spread of cases, and we were hurtling towards another lockdown while the government kept constantly reminding us "we're all in this together" and "follow the rules so that we can beat this thing"? That twelve months ago?

Their behaviour was morally - and legally - wrong.

Absolutely this.

Boris and his cronies are disgusting. The rest of us made sacrifices- of money, education, mental health, relationships etc. May many people lost their lives, some frontline workers with no PPE. Yet BoJo thought a Christmas quiz was acceptable? Many of us worked with colleagues but I don't know of anyone last year who would have considered an in office quiz acceptable!

LadyWithLapdog · 12/12/2021 15:15

It's easy to be flippant and clever now, a year later. But at the time we'd barely started vaccinating and there was still a lot of death around.

Maybe it was someone sat at home doing the quiz who was horrified to see Boris and the other two sat there. Maybe he thought it was irresponsible to leak it last year when vaccinations were only just starting or maybe nobody wanted to buy it off him. Doesn't really matter as Boris shouldn't have done it should he.
Hbh17 · 12/12/2021 15:27

I honestly don't care about any of this, and I'm happy that all those who had parties did so. But the really interesting questions are who is leaking all of this and why has it come out now? That part is fascinating.

Frazzled2207 · 12/12/2021 15:33

Regardless of a zoom party or not the Labour Party are making the point that the actual day it took place was the day they called for a 4 nations cobra meeting to decide what to do with the worsening covid situation at the time. It proves that their eyes were not on the ball at the most critical time.

KittenCatcher · 12/12/2021 15:55

Are there photos of all,the other participants crowded around their computers flanked by their colleagues or is this the only one

Forion · 12/12/2021 17:07

news.sky.com/story/dominic-cummings-says-pictures-of-downing-street-parties-exist-and-will-inevitably-get-out-12491785

Photos of other parties held at Number 10 definitely exist.

OP posts:
KittenCatcher · 12/12/2021 17:26

Hadnt DC already been booted out before any of these parties took place unless they were earlier and he was there, not that he is the most honest and trustworthy person to be believed. There is a press conference tonight 8pm so maybe we will learn more.

Forion · 12/12/2021 17:37

Perhaps Cummings has little weasely friends inside Downing Street that he gets info and pictures off.

OP posts:
KittenCatcher · 12/12/2021 17:43

Someone did try to resign over the party debacle this week (BJ didn't accept the resignation) so it would appear some people involved do have slightly more integrity than BJ. Not that that says much...
Unescorted · 12/12/2021 18:38

He stupidity threw a member of his press / Comms team under the bus .... Of all the teams you don't want to piss off I would put the people whose job it is to record events top of the lust.

Unescorted · 12/12/2021 18:38

List not lust. My vag clamped shut at the thought.

Didn’t they back Cummings in the whole B Castle debacle?

Which actually was infuriating

Forion · 12/12/2021 18:49

What a treat it would be if he resigned tonight and there was a general election and we finally got rid of these arseholes.

Well, I can dream 🙄

OP posts:
MarshaBradyo · 12/12/2021 18:53

Wouldn’t we just have harsher restrictions then?

Not keen on that

nancy75 · 12/12/2021 18:55

Sadly him stepping down won’t trigger a general ejection - he will just be replaced with one of the other awful options.
If we end up with JRM we’re emigrating
