Have seen a Jack Wills gym bag/ smelliest set for a 16 year old boy. Being the wrong side of 40 I've no idea if this is cool or not Grin but do remember the absolute horror of having something with the wrong label!
Could anyone with a teenage boy please check this vital information for me please :)

TNF here, JW not cool since it’s part of Sports Direct now Hmm but what’s cool varies from school to school. A voucher for Costa or Nando’s would be safe.

CiaoForDiNiaoSaur · 06/12/2021 17:57

If he likes burgers how about a burger maker thing? Do they still exist? My brother had one as a teen and we loved making our own burgers.

I've bought teen DSs a churro maker to share (£15 in Aldis aisle of wonder)

Knitter99 · 06/12/2021 17:58

I know it's a typo but not Addis! No teen boy wants a washing up bowl

Oh this thread is making me laugh.

On the food front, ds15 is getting a box of Doritos extra hot or firey hot or something like that, he's obsessed with them. He stinks. So I've got a pal to get an entire box from the cash and carry.

Op you need to drive by his school or hang out at the local chip shop at lunchtime and see which brands you can spot.

Bizarrely lots of older teens at my boys' school are buying leather shoes with really long, skinny toes. Ds is after a pair but I'm not convinced they're a fashion that's going to last.

The last thread I wanted to read after just ordering some JW for DS18 and DS13.

@ADialgaAteMyDog, not sure what age you are, but a ‘roadman’ is similar to what we used to call ‘townies’ when I was at school in the 90s. They’re the sort of lads that wear grey tracksuit trousers all the time and permanently seem to have one or both hands shoved down the front of them.

Knitter99 · 06/12/2021 18:00

what is a roadman?

A workman who works on roads? Grin

I dont actually know, it could have a whole different meaning to teenagers

shreddies · 06/12/2021 18:00

On the food thing mine like wierd Korean pot noodles, chilli sauces and the like. But not really proper present territory

waterlego · 06/12/2021 18:01

Delighted to find out that the ageing North Face hoodie I wear for dog walking might be vaguely fashionable 😆

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 06/12/2021 18:03

16yo DS says “no smellies. Please no smellies. I still have loads from last year”

He doesn’t use them.

LittleMy77 · 06/12/2021 18:03

Vouchers for Nandos or a good burger chain?

I’d avoid all gift sets at Boots etc; to be fair, even most of the adult gift sets are ‘meh’

WhatHaveIFound · 06/12/2021 18:05

I've just bought DS a pair of North Face etip gloves which he loves (and it stops him stealing mine). They were £35.

Other than that anything Northface, Under Armour or Hollister.

megletthesecond · 06/12/2021 18:05

best that's hilarious about Bergaus being trendy. My mum is in her 70's and wears it.

catchingzzzeds · 06/12/2021 18:06

I was reliably informed by a year 11 English class that the term 'roadman' is the new word for 'chav' Who knew 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ducksurprise · 06/12/2021 18:07

White, anything bloody white, socks, coats, tops but not trousers (apparently they are not cultivating the snowman look) I make them wash it.
Nike and not Addidas here and definitely not JW.

Roadman here is people trying to be hard, all dressed in tracksuits.

Fuuuuuckit · 06/12/2021 18:07

Ck socks or boxers would go down well here (especially on PE day at school). TK Maxx t shirt - Ralph Lauren in any colour. If you have an original Factory Shop they've got 2 Georgio Armani Tshirts for £30 at the moment. You would be a supremely amazing aunt if any of the above arrived under the tree for ds!

LadyLazarus40 · 06/12/2021 18:08

Don’t buy a gift set.

Supreme / Palace / FA socks / boxers would be 👍🏻

whatnumber · 06/12/2021 18:10

Vouchers are a pain. You can never spend them exactly to the value.
Cash is king Grin

greendiva · 06/12/2021 18:10

Maybe not for that age group.

HunkyPunk · 06/12/2021 18:11

Other than that anything Northface, Under Armour or Hollister.

Is Hollister ‘in’ again? I can’t keep up!

Puffalicious · 06/12/2021 18:13

DS17 says a roadman is a London gangster- not as in a geezer, but a modern day, dressed in sportswear gangster! This thread is funny.

YY to Northface/ Under Armour/ Adidas/ Nike/ Ellesse especially if it's retro in any way.

DS17 and DS15 here. No smellies as they have hundreds! Also he may have sensitive skin like my 2!

Mum0509 · 06/12/2021 18:14

What's cool for one, is not for another. I'd get a waffle maker or Amazon voucher.

MaryAndGerryLivingInDerry · 06/12/2021 18:15

@LittleMy77

Yep. Avoid boots gift sets. My MIL buys me a soap & glory set every single year. I havent the heart to tell her I don’t use them.
Puffalicious · 06/12/2021 18:16

And, yes, white sports socks! Typo always popular for teens' stationery.

Inastatus · 06/12/2021 18:17

Roadman is the evolution of the chav - most likely seen in gangs, dressed in track suits, speak using mainly slang words and finish every sentence with ‘init’ 😅

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 06/12/2021 18:17

Hollister do some good smellies

A bit preppie but Abercrombie and fitch
