Have seen a Jack Wills gym bag/ smelliest set for a 16 year old boy. Being the wrong side of 40 I've no idea if this is cool or not Grin but do remember the absolute horror of having something with the wrong label!
Could anyone with a teenage boy please check this vital information for me please :)

I'm still bearing the scars of Gola trainers in the early 90s when all my friends had pump tongue Rebooks Grin

Ohhhh those gloves look good 👍

Haha I also had Gola trainers and was MERCILESSLY trashed for it!

Agree with others: Adidas or Nike are the safest of safe bets.

fairlygoodmother · 06/12/2021 17:17

North face is cool? I thought that was the kind of thing I wear to go for a walk.
I am obviously clueless, I do have a teenage boy but he is clueless too.

ILoveHuskies · 06/12/2021 17:19

Ds is almost 16, no to jack wills 😬

Him and his mates are into Nike, CK, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas originals if that helps

SoupDragon · 06/12/2021 17:20

@Youaremypenguin

Nike or Addis are pretty safe. The rest are very dependant on friendship groups!
I know it's a typo but not Addis! No teen boy wants a washing up bowl. 😂
hellosunshineagainx · 06/12/2021 17:21

It so funny, North Face was so uncool when I was a teen. It's what dads wore 🤣

Yep!

It's nuts. DS has the big puffa jacket by them , cost me a bloody fortune

I remember when north face was seriously uncool

JaninesEyePatch · 06/12/2021 17:23

@Squashpocket

Jack wills was cool about 10-15 years ago when it was a fairly expensive, exclusive preppy brand favoured by public school types. Since then it's been bought by Mike Ashley who sells it at a discount in Sports Direct. To say it's lost something along the way is an understatement! So, definitely not cool, sorry.
Was trying to think how to describe it and this is perfect 👍🏼
bloodyhoodedeyes · 06/12/2021 17:23

Carhart, route one, vans white socks or ASOS vouchers all win in this house proud owner of a 14 & 17 year old.

If you want smellies the bulldog brand in all supermarkets is good, lovely shower gel and face scrubs.

But Xbox, vinyls and CK aftershaves are also OK.. but then mine also love nice candles and fluffy throws for their beds.

Jack wills and smelly gift sets are ok from grandma, they forgive her and it all gets used.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 06/12/2021 17:23

My teenager wouldn't be seen dead in north face. Says it is for wannabe roadmen.
It really is down to the teenager!

DSGR · 06/12/2021 17:24

North Face t shirt would be much better received

JaninesEyePatch · 06/12/2021 17:25

Under Armour is popular with teens round this way.

shreddies · 06/12/2021 17:28

I wouldn't risk. Do vouchers or cash, honestly (I have three teen ds's)

shreddies · 06/12/2021 17:28

Risk it

Builtthiscityonsausagerolls · 06/12/2021 17:29

'OK from Grandma's Sad
But I'm cool Auntie Grin

Under Armour, North Face, Nike. Basically anything for sale in JD Sports. Not anything for sale in Sports Direct, Superdry or Jack Wills.
Mine has asked for white Nike ankle socks this year. Teens are weird.

alrightfella · 06/12/2021 17:36

DS likes under armour and Nike, PlayStation vouchers, and food.

Thesearmsofmine · 06/12/2021 17:41

This thread is so funny. DH has a north Face coat, he will be delighted to hear that he is cool again!

caringcarer · 06/12/2021 17:41

My 15 year old likes No Fear. You can get that at JD sports. You could try a T shirt.

bestbefore · 06/12/2021 17:48

For those horrified/fascinated about north face being 'in' again - Berghaus is also back - now stocked/ owned by the guys at JD so expect to see that on a teen near you soon Grin www.jdsports.co.uk/men/brand/berghaus/

I had a lovely Berghaus rucksack 30 years ago...! Grin

If you're cool aunty, what about asking him for a few suggestions? He'd probably appreciate you showing an interest in him and what he actually wants/ needs. Teens can be so tribal that what's popular with the 'popular kids' is looked down on by other groups/ they all have their signature "things".

I asked him. I quote: 'Dunno food mby' However I suspect he'll be disappointed with a bag of carrots and some cabbage... tempting as that is. I've got him chocolate. Only other food he apparently likes is burgers Hmm

I have to ask, what is a roadman?
