Social media posts that make you cringe

Saw one the other day-

‘Guys, where can I donate food to? I really want to help’ To me it just smacks of virtue signalling and wanting praise. My view is that if they’ve got FB then presumably they could Google this and have they never seen the food bank bins at the door of every supermarket?

Phew rant over!

"Has anyone got the number for OOH GP / Urgent care" for fucks sake you absolute eejiy, everyone knows you want them to ask what the matter is. I LOVE it when nobody does.

LadyDanburysHat · 03/12/2021 12:17

@BearSoFair

'Another deposit into the most important bank account in the world...the memory bank' Used to have someone who would post that at least twice a week...I muted her in the end!
Oh my goodness, that makes me want to vomit!
PunchedTit4ASoul · 03/12/2021 12:23

Let the middle button complete this sentence posts. I saw one that said "I fell over in the middle of a cemetery because...I told Donald Trump to go suck a limp ass eggplant!" The posts after were an even split of "tee hee hee omg so funny" or "yeah sure that was so obviously made up". Grin

In the end ? Grin

Fuck me that would've been muted by week 1.

One such post just appeared! A friend shared it, I don’t know the original poster who’s name I have blanked out.

What a load of crap. No one likes bragging or boasting but to make a post like this is absolutely pathetic and condescending.

My friend shares posts about lost dogs in Liverpool (everyone look out for it) we live in Glasgow 😂😂 She does it all the bloody time.

BigYellowHat · 03/12/2021 12:32

I saw someone the other day filming themselves buying someone else a coffee and a cake in Starbucks. I was dying a little bit inside both for the filmer and the recipient. Luckily I was able to delete as they were just an acquaintance.

People who write
"Wishing my beautiful child a happy 5th birthday".

Your child isn't on social media just tell them.

fedup078 · 03/12/2021 12:32

@ParkheadParadise oh yeah I seen people sharing posts about dogs in America 😂😂

AtlasPine · 03/12/2021 12:34

@Levithian

"Today I was feeling down, and my eighteen month old came up to me, hugged me and said, "Mummy, remember than even when your soul is shrouded in the mists of unhappiness, a fresh breeze will come and you will once again see the sun." So blessed to have my wise little man."

jpbee · 03/12/2021 12:47

For me it's the lists:

"House cleaned, tea in the oven, kids in bed, fresh pyjamas on"

Mate, you've just listed the basic things everyone does every day, congratulations?

@BleuJay Yes! These are possibly more annoying than the bragging posts themselves!
mindutopia · 03/12/2021 12:50

My mum, posting constantly about how much she loves her daughter and grandchildren and how blessed she is for family. She is furious with me because I don't want a relationship with her (abusive) partner, has barely spoken to me for almost 2 years, hasn't acknowledged any of our birthdays in this time, and has completely ignored any attempts to reach her since the summer. I'm (and my dc) are her only living biological family. Hmm

She finally blocked me on Facebook about 2 months ago, so at least I don't need to see them anymore, but people do periodically tell me she still does it.

Oh gosh yes this lol one of my friends gives her daily list of jobs she's done. I'm like ok....

I am annoyingly addicted to Facebook but have deleted recently and am trying to give it up completely.

I have a friend who is a great person but her fb posts make me irrationally hate her. She literally shares everything, it’s cringey. She also overshares personal problems but the sharing doesn’t make it any better. It makes me think she is incapable of actually dealing with her problems. People treat social media like it’s therapy and that really troubles me.

MeredithGreyishblue · 03/12/2021 12:55

People who went missing 3 years ago in Portsmouth and were found within 20 mins but the post still gets shared by Auntie Betty in Oldham.

See also dogs in Colorado.

Aw, my Granny eould have been 156 today.
"that's amazing, hun!"

Manky looking mini cheesecakes with Kinder bars wedged on top

jpbee · 03/12/2021 12:56

@AlternativePerspective Going off topic, but the bride in hospital receiption does kind of make sense (pre-covid) as I've heard of people visiting unwell relatives in hospital on their wedding day so relative could see them in their dress etc. Not sure how often it happens mind.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/12/2021 12:57

So proud of my little angel child. She used all her pocket money to buy stuff for the food bank, then cleared the canal of litter before rowing rescue boats across the Channel. Taking her for a simple treat of a shopping spree in New York to show how proud I am of her.

That might be a slight exaggeration...

Eileen101 · 03/12/2021 12:59

Check ins at the GP/a&e.
People giving out all the answers to their security questions Hmm first pet's name/mother's maiden name and similar.
'i bet my friends won't repost this...' etc. You think right. Lovely step mum does these ones though so I feel bad being irritated Grin
Attention seeking messages, with "inbox me Hun" replies.

I need to delete Facebook...

I have friends who I love to bits in real life but I can't bear online-them!

Those game apps on Facebook -

‘What kind of dog are you?’

Picture of a dog followed by some crap about your ‘wonderful‘ personality.

Anna is a retriever. Brave and daring but a loyal companion. 🙄
