Saw one the other day-

‘Guys, where can I donate food to? I really want to help’ To me it just smacks of virtue signalling and wanting praise. My view is that if they’ve got FB then presumably they could Google this and have they never seen the food bank bins at the door of every supermarket?

Phew rant over!

Any gushing crap about partners when you know they fight like cat and dog.

I disagree. Any gushing crap about partners regardless. Even if they're the perfect couple.

Pythian · 04/12/2021 21:00

Also some of my lefty friends who post endless "Tories are all eeevvill", like a load of budget versions of Rik from the Young Ones. For supposedly moral, liberal people, they sure are intolerant of others' views.

WheelieBinPrincess · 04/12/2021 21:37

Woman on my local Facebook group just now-

‘Anyone found £250 in cash either outside the Shell garage, on the floor in Tesco or any point along Southsea Ave? It was all our money for Christmas, now we have nothing :( ‘

I mean call me cynical….Hmm

thickthighs73 · 04/12/2021 21:39

@copernicium

Checking in at the hospital Hun My 🌎 Be kind
God this one gets on my tits lol
Tinsellittis · 04/12/2021 21:47

Adults posting photos of their dinner with the caption ‘yummy’. IMHO no one over the age of 10 should say ‘yummy’, but even this isn’t as bad as ‘nom nom nom’ which gives me the rage.

Another ‘favourite’ is folk posting about living at the Seaside ‘my daily dose of vitamin sea’, oh do p*ss off 🤢

foodiscomplicated · 04/12/2021 21:50

Ooo @Tinsellittis you've reminded me.. our local (seaside) village has a group of ladies who swim all year round. I really am tired of seeing their 'vitamin sea' posts. All year round. Yes we know you're part of a sisterhood who swims. You tell us almost daily

YouokHun · 04/12/2021 22:02

@sqirrelfriends

There's one lady on the local Facebook page who exclusively virtue signals:

"The chuggers are out in force today, we signed up for a direct debit, I suggest you do to"

"We just donated a weeks shopping to the food bank, it such a good cause if you have the money to give them please do" (includes pictures of shopping)

Etc etc.

She seems lovely but really?!

@sqirrelfriends For you and all the other recipients of others’ virtue signalling. Stay strong.

I recently saw someone post on a large Facebook group sharing a random act of kindness someone had done for them and asking for other people’s experiences of similar.

Quite a large number of the comments were people replying sharing acts of kindness they themselves had done.

You get that on here a lot too.

People make a post saying 'AIBU, I did X good deed, but someone looked at me a bit funny afterwards so I was just wondering if the wonderful thing I did could be misconstrued as awful', they 100% do it just so people will tell them they are a generous and caring human being.

123Suprise · 04/12/2021 22:53

People recommending their own partners on posts asking for personal recommendations for a particular tradesperson.

I would immediately avoid them on that basis.

I know someone who gets her family members to review the candles that she makes. Her Mum, Aunt and MIL all recommended the candles. I nearly left a review saying the above reviews are from family😂

I routinely unfriend people who post "unfriend me if you don't agree with xxx" Many times I actually did agree with their mainly political opinions but the "I won't be your friend unless you agree with me" line feels a bit too much like secondary school to me.
Beafaith · 05/12/2021 08:13

How about the ones that say they're having a friends clearout and then a couple hours later...they announce that if we can see this post then we are one of the lucky ones Xmas Grin

grafittiartist · 05/12/2021 08:27

Beafaith- I was about to post the exact same thing!
I mean- how rude is it?!

This. When the ‘ice bucket challenge’ was in full flow it really gave me the rage. Mostly because of people saying it was ‘for ALS’. ALS is an American term for what is known in Britain as motor neurone disease. I didn’t see a single person linking to the MND society or collecting any actual donations when they posted their videos having a bucket of water poured over them, or saying anything that would have raised awareness of the condition . 100% virtue signaling with some added attention seeking. Disgraceful.
HaaaaaveyoumetTed · 05/12/2021 09:09

"be kind"

Only ever posted by bitchy twats. Genuinely kind people don't need to bother.

Larryyourwaiter · 05/12/2021 09:45

My BIL harassed me for weeks about doing this and complained I was ‘no fun’ (I have a medical condition that would be exasperated by freezing cold water). He won’t given a fucking penny to anyone.

PoppyWoods · 05/12/2021 10:19

"and just like that... My baby is going to school / we've been married for 2 years / the weekend is over"

You're not some bloody magician Barbara, time passes for everyone 🙄

Romeiswheretheheartis · 05/12/2021 10:40

"Happy 2nd Birthday to my baby girl. Love you to the moon and back"

I doubt baby girl is reading this on Facebook Hmm

Agree about all the "At the hospital/feeling terrible" posts. And then you scroll through the comments to find out why but they never say!

ParkheadParadise · 05/12/2021 10:53
