How many jumpers/cardigans does your child have for school?

Dd4 has 2 cardigans and 1 sweatshirt. Cardigans get worn mostly. Just noticed one of her cardigans is starting to get a bit old from washing regularly (she's in reception).

DC each have 4 every day jumpers and one they only ever wear at home (no uniform).

TheSpanishApartment · 01/12/2021 10:17

Mine has three cardigans. They are doing ok, they do look pretty worn by the end of the year though.

TakeMeToYourLiar · 01/12/2021 10:18

Mine has 7, but they are all from the second hand shop.

  1. He gets it messy every day!
faithfulbird20 · 01/12/2021 10:18

Are the the logo ones or supermarket ones? I might pay a bit more and get the asda 8 quid for 2 ones...I bought the Aldi ones this year and they don't wash well...

1 of mine has 1 jumper that he wears when its cold (secondary school so usually just has short sleeve shirt and blazer) the other has 2 but he only wears one all week the other is a spare in case the first is dirty or lost. he only wears it to school in the morning then is in his bag, he runs hot and it still in shorts.

Xiaoxiong · 01/12/2021 10:21

Each DS has 1 long sleeve jumper, 1 fleece, 1 hat and 1 coat.

ALL are currently at school "somewhere". Drives me mad.

Marmite27 · 01/12/2021 10:21

3 and 2 hoody’s for her 2 PE days.

LBOCS2 · 01/12/2021 14:40

One for each day of the week (two hoodies/sweatshirts for PE days, three cardigans for the other days). I don't do mid-week laundry panics!

mogschristmascalamity · 01/12/2021 14:44

5 school cardigans. DD is out at school 7.30 to 6pm each day and comes home absolutely filthy. Shes year 3 but it was worse in reception.

CovoidOfAllHumanity · 01/12/2021 14:46

Only 2 in violation of my nana's one on, one off and one in the wash rule

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 01/12/2021 14:47

4 each (2 2packs each)

DD1 has that many as her original order was delayed, ad I found them elsewhere and then the other 2 arrived. But she'll pass them down. (Mid year school move so she had none)

DD2 has four as she leaves them at school. That was before I got her 3 says of PE kit timetable...

BlackRedGold · 01/12/2021 14:52

Teen has one - optional under blazer so hardly ever worn, but handy for very cold days.

Late primary Dc has 2 hand me downs in different sizes, and wears one daily.

They had 4 in Reception, as got mucky much more often!

Blahdyblahbla · 01/12/2021 15:02

Mine has about 8! I bought 5 then got a load of hand me downs from a friend. Reception, gets filthy every day.

MarmitesMyMate · 01/12/2021 15:05

Pre schooler does 3 days. =3 full sets of uniform.

Teen 3 trousers 5 t shirts. 3 hoody

MarmitesMyMate · 01/12/2021 15:08

When dc starts ft school. Will have 1 jumper and bottoms for each day.
T shirts I'll buy loads of packs. Because I'm Very fussy about stains or if go off white. And with experience when dss were all marked. Everywhere was out of stock.
So. I'll prob buy far too many packs of 2s.

ByGrabtharsHammerWhatASavings · 01/12/2021 15:09

My son is in reception and he has 3 tshirts, 3 pairs of trousers, and 2 fleeces. The fleece and tops are the branded ones but the trousers are asda (technically he's down to 2 pairs of trousers atm as a pair have just ripped 🙄)

Knitter99 · 01/12/2021 15:10
  1. I put it in his bag on the first day of term and it stays there till the last day. He never wears it, even in the depths of winter, but I feel obliged to provide it all the same.
MajorCarolDanvers · 01/12/2021 15:10

Son used to require 5 - a clean one each day as really mucky in primary school. Now he is a bit older and in high school we are managing on 3 per week.

Younger Daughter as a result has dozens as wears son's hand-me-downs.

MinnieMountain · 01/12/2021 15:13

One per day. And I’ve just had to buy more as he’s grown out of the age 7-8 despite being an average sized just 8yo Angry

TenoringBehind · 01/12/2021 15:24

Have 2 each, refuse to wear any, 🙄

BogRollBOGOF · 01/12/2021 15:32

Some.
When they used to wear them, we stored more on the cloakroom floor than in the uniform drawer.
DS2 wears them a few times a year.
Think it's about 3 or 4 years since DS1 wore them?

I now buy a couple to fit occasionally from our 50p PTA sales so there is an option avaliable, no point in buying new.

SallyWD · 01/12/2021 15:38

They have 3 each (and then a really old tatty one for emergencies). I find this enough. They can usually wear the same one 2 days in a row and if not I always do a load of washing mid-week.

Caterina99 · 01/12/2021 17:29

DC age 4 and 6 have 3 each. They usually get them filthy and need a clean one daily but I always do a load of washing on a Tuesday night/wed morning so it’s never an issue. They do have 5 polo shirts though

DinosApple · 01/12/2021 17:38

My girls had 5 each at primary. Not the logo ones, but I did used to get the M&S ones, especially for older DD as they lasted and could be handed down.
Both DDs used to get absolutely filthy from Reception to yr 4 or 5.
