Shopping in Aldi for first time - very excited! What should I buy?

There's never been an Aldi near me but one has just opened that's a ten minute drive away.
I've heard really good things about Aldi - what's best to buy (and best avoided)?

The chocolate is very nice.

Aldi best tasty roast in a bag whole chicken, but take it out of the bag for the last 10 mins to crisp. I freeze the stock for risotto once it’s cooked and the fat has been removed.

The steaks are good
Thin crust pizza is good
Haven’t been to Aldi for so long!

Washing tablets, baby wipes, free range chicken, halloumi, smoothie mixes, cereal bars, oat milk... I prefer all these things from Aldi than from big supermarkets.

A power saw and a kettlebell . I like their brioche burger rolls, the rice trays and chicken en-croute.

The seeded bloomers are nice

Is the wine any good?

Peanut butter - tastes as good as the premium ones in the other supermarkets. 🌹

Is the wine any good?

Very good.

Do they have any special Christmas bits of food that are worth going for?

Avocados, seriously. Every other supermarket they're either too ripe or ones that never ever ripen. Aldi avocados are spot on, ready to eat then and still OK for a few days.

We also like the little ready to eat almost handbag size sushi boxes, we sometimes eat them in the car before we even get home lol.

Their rip-off Jo Malone candles are nice. I like the Blackberry and Bay one and the Fig and Cassis.

Oh yes the wine is nice. I tried a full bodied red Fitou Reserve Pierre Jaurant French wine 🍷 last night very very nice 😊

Posh mince pies are good.
A version of Toblerone. In fact lots of Christmas chocolate stuff

I second the brioche buns
Some of the cakes in tubs, a bit like the M&S ones

Cotes du Rhône red wine is fantastic value.

Their pulled pork is really good

Their steak is amazing, and all their salads/vegetables are fantastic and such good value.

Greek yogurt is lovely
Mature cheese is really good

And the middle aisle worth a rummage

Just got back. Very impressed and liked the prices! Was a small one though and I was disappointed that there didn't seem to be a middle aisle of crap 😢

I've got mixed views about Aldi. We've had a few disasters and they've gone in the bin so didn't save money there!

@WhatHoMarjorie - where in the country are you? The Aldi’s near me never have the blackberry and bay in store.
