Extra deep fitted sheets - save me from more wasted purchases!

Please help save me from throwing more money away…

We have a king size bed but a very thick (and lovely) mattress topper that is making finding a good quality fitted sheet impossible. John Lewis and M&S sheets aren’t deep enough. Next extra deep sheets are just about fine but not great quality

Would super king be better? Or would they fit badly? Where are we missing for high quality sheets that fit?!!

Dunelm

I use tesco King size deep sheets. Bog standard ones, not sure if they do better ones.
Haven't had to fight with these and they stay on the corners.

gamerchick · 24/11/2021 20:33

I just buy the next size up. So yes a superking.

Another Dunelm vote

I'm in the same position! I have a few lovely deep ones, from memory they were from Debenhams (can't remember the actual brand though) and QVC. The secret is to either measure before buying or buy one and if it fits by several more identical ones

TellMeItsNotTrue · 24/11/2021 20:37

Deep sheet on the mattress, then a normal sheet for the topper

Makes life a lot easier when changing the bedding, and only need to change the top one regularly as the bottom one isn't touched

Honestly felt stupid the first time I did it, for not realising sooner how much sense it makes, and for making my life harder doing it the other way

hidetheicicles · 24/11/2021 20:37

I like my sheets tight on the bed so wouldn’t go super king. We have a similar set up and have some from Dusk that work well, the deep fitted ones.

FOJN · 24/11/2021 20:39

I've used super king flat sheets in the past. It takes more time to make the bed but a tight envelope corner means less wrinkles in the sheet than with fitted. My years as a nurse no doubt helped.

BruceAndNosh · 24/11/2021 20:41

I buy all my sheets and towels from Out of Eden. They mostly supply Guest Houses and Bed and Breakfast places so their stuff is made to last. Their deep sheets are really nice with generous tuck under.

NigelWithTheBrie79 · 24/11/2021 20:42

I highly recommend these. I have an extra deep mattress and with these the sheets never pop off.
They do wear out eventually (12-18 months usually) but I've never paid more than £5 to replace them.

Dunelm sheets have rendered my mattress elastics unnecessary!

Kaykay247 · 24/11/2021 20:44

I got mine from wilko. Very deep!

User260486 · 24/11/2021 20:45

White company sell extra deep fitted sheets.

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 24/11/2021 20:46

IKEA do deep ones. We got one with an elasticated strap too which goes under the mattress and velcros on one side, about a third of the way down the bed. Excellent.

CJCreggsGoldfish · 24/11/2021 20:47

Dunelm! I think we actually bought extra deep ones from there.

Oh my god...why have I never thought of this? Thank you! I also feel a bit stupid now Grin

When was the last time you bought John Lewis? We have a set bought about 3 years ago and one bought this year. The new ones seem much deeper for our mattress/memory foam topper/wool topper combo.

NavaniKholinRocks · 24/11/2021 20:50

Dunelm - definitely worth a look. We’ve got a really think mattress with built in topper and their deep fitted sheets are great. Second option is size up in normal sheets, but they don’t have quite as nice corners that way. Mind you, I don’t often sleep on the corners of my mattress so as long as I don’t put my feet right on the not-quite-right wrinkles then it works ok.

ifellintoarabbithole · 24/11/2021 20:51

Dunelm do 3 different depths on their fitted sheets (the Dorma 300 and 500TC sateen ones anyway).

I always do the research and check the the sides of the sheets are 50cm. My bed is a super queen with the very deep sides, so getting the 50cm sheets is worth it.

HoardingSamphireSaurus · 24/11/2021 21:01

I've tried the next size up, the deepest Dunelm stock and gave up.

I eventually found some 16" / 40cm deep ones on Amazon, good cotton.

Search Amazon for extra deep fitted sheets. They have quite a few

Hersetta427 · 24/11/2021 21:06

Got mine from finely- they fit perfectly.

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 24/11/2021 21:15

Dunelm were the only ones I found that fit over my deep mattress and topper. But you have to search even in there. They get mixed in with the normal depth sheets where I shopped.
