Does anyone miss Debenhams/BHS?

I had a catch up with a friend earlier who said she misses Debenhams a lot and misses the staples she’d buy from BHS. I forgot until just today that they ever existed . My local town centre never had a Debenhams or BHS so maybe that’s why!

Does anyone else miss them?

I really miss the Debenhams store in my local city centre.

I miss Debenhams. I liked being able to go to Topshop and Miss Selfridges and quiz all within a few steps.

I also miss Woolworths.

I miss BHS and C+A too.

Online Debenhams isn't as good as old online Debenhams either. I had a nightmare returning goods and have vowed never to buy from there again.

I think I've been to that one, did it have loads of criss cross escalators In the middle? Or was that Plymouth? If it's that one I wonder what they will do with that building.

I miss BHS for their reasonably priced longer length swimsuits. Also, their cotton high leg knickers that came in proper sizes, not 10-12, 14-16 etc.

I miss Debenhams so much! It was the flagship store in our local shopping Centre and it's not worth going there now it's gone. Also after many years out of the workforce i was delighted to get a part time job in Wallis a couple of years ago, then of course Covid happened and that was that.

I miss Debenhams, I Ioved that you could visit all the brands in one store (oasis, Warehouse and Dorothy Perkins in particular), I'd usually end up buying something from there. BHS was mostly shit tho so don't miss that one.

BHS used to sell soft leather boots at very reasonable prices. I miss those. Nobody else comes close.

I will miss Debehams when I need smart/ formal clothes.
I didn't find BHS very useful for clothes as they were cut too big for me.
Most of my nice clothes are from defunct brands. I don't want to buy clothes online. I want to feel them and try them first without the hassel of returns.

I miss Debenhams, it was great for me for Wallis and I got lots for DS from red herring. Also miss woolworths.

Yes, that was the one! Criss cross elevators.

I didn't miss BHS but I'll definitely miss Debenhams. I think many towns and small cities where that was the only department store will suffer from its demise - I'm not sure there will be much point in going into the town any more.

I still miss C&A.

Yes i miss both, and also Dorothy Perkins. We're losing M&S from central Bristol after christmas as well.

Me too. They're still in Europe and I like popping in to look around whenever I come across one.

Absolutely not, BHS full of old lady tat and Debenhams was just depressing. Give me JL, Harrods or Selfridges any day.
