Vital question 😆 - best after-dinner mints

Any recommendations welcomed - emphasis on dark chocolate and strong mint flavour, I think, rather than a Bendicks Bittermint type with fondant filling.

This is indeed an important question.

Divine are pretty good - similar style to After Eights, and fair trade.

Excellent suggestion to start, have a trip to F&M planned, definitely a contender.

Probably lovely, but a bit too After Eight-ish I think, might as well buy the originals for nostalgia’s sake. I’d like something that looks a bit posh (style over substance 🤣).

Has anyone tried the Prestat ones?

After eights!!! Nothing compares!

AuntieDolly · 18/11/2021 18:43

We like Bendicks

Whitney168 · 18/11/2021 18:43

Charbonnel et Walker seem to do some fancy looking ones too?

Think I am inclined towards just the flavoured chocolate ones, but they need to be punchy.

Only after 8's if you can put the wrappers back!

Jemimapuddleduk · 18/11/2021 18:47

The m&s dark chocolate and mint selection box is pretty good

Subbaxeo · 18/11/2021 18:49

Nothing can beat Bittermints, unfortunately after an expensive mistake.

Ridingthegravytrain · 18/11/2021 18:50

Green and blacks is nice. And the Aldi posh mint dark chocolate moser Roth

Candleabra · 18/11/2021 18:50

I like the Elizabeth shaw mint crisp ones

Whitney168 · 18/11/2021 18:50

Good Housekeeping taste test seems to firmly go for the cheaper ones 😆

Both the above come in individually wrapped smallish bars

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 18/11/2021 18:52

@Candleabra has beat me to recommending Elizabeth Shaw Mint Crisps...I bloody love those!

Whitney168 · 18/11/2021 18:53

Will look at all the suggestions. F&M Napolitains look purty too.

I love after eights, but I have to say I bought Morrison’s own ones in the past they were thicker, but really nice, chocolate and flavour. Quite a while ago though, I don’t live close to a Morrison’s now.

Whitney168 · 18/11/2021 18:56

I love Elizabeth Shaw too. And Bittermints, just want less fondant as they’ll come at the end of a multi-course meal.

Have no fear, I know I’m being daft, but I want ones that look lovely.

We were bought some summerdown dark chocolate mint thins last year and they were excellent. Looks like you can get them from a few different places online www.summerdown.com/shop/peppermint-chocolates/chocolate-mint-thins/

They’re really nice, I was happy to discover they’re vegan last year so ate a couple of boxes of them over Xmas.

Candleabra · 18/11/2021 19:11

The bendicks mint selection has a mint crisp style chocolate as one of the options inside (though the whole box is delicious)
Love mint chocolate, but has to be dark choc not milk

AtomHeartMotherOfGod · 18/11/2021 19:17

I have to avoid After Eight now because I realised they were Nestlé... a shame as they were always my go-to after dinner mint.

I have since found the Divine dark mint thins.... divine. The ginger thins in the same set are also luscious.

I don't really like any 'crunch' versions.

inflatableseahorses · 18/11/2021 19:22

If you'd like, you could send me a box of each of those recommended, I could sample them well, eat them all and let you know my opinion.

IhateBoswell · 18/11/2021 19:23

Also a vote for the Elizabeth Shaw ones.
